  1. I ordered an EH1 from Audio Cubes 3 days ago... now I'll probably have to wait 3 WEEKS... oh, the pain.
  2. GOOD ONE!! (well... too Bad theEy're noT thAt smart)
  3. I started a similar thread at the T-board, if anyone is interested: MD history
  4. It's not ethics... its business. Well, as you pointed out, BAD business. But either way, my response was not really aimed at you; I'm just tired of everyone whining about MD dying, asking for petitions, what went wrong, blah-blah-blah. There's nothing we can do about what is happening, so either stick to the format and enjoy it while you can and with whatever you can get your hands on, or just leave & get something else.
  5. Look, it's 2005. Ipod will be discontinued in a few years as well... it's all relative. We're talking about disposable electronics in a day & age where your computer is obsolete a week after you buy it. Get over it. I have 4 hiMD machines, and love them - and they suit me TODAY perfectly.
  6. Yeah, well GOOD LUCK finding an RH710 anywhere. It certainly is a discontinued model, plus even if you Froogle it, there are 2 hits, and both are incorrect (Musician's Friend had a typo, and they're really selling the DH710).
  7. Most likely it's the pack that has them WITHOUT individual slip-sleeve (cases)... which to me is a waste, since I'll then have to buy the jewel cases for them.
  8. GREAT! ME TOO!!! This point got me thinking... it's possible they didn't MENTION it because it's not a PROMOTIONAL priority (like it ever WAS)... but they could still keep it going another 2 years, but just not have it in their spotlight as they're pushing the "better" things...
  9. Yeah.. SEE?? If "connect" doesn't interface w/ my HiMD... it will only be a matter of time... or matter of the next Windows operating system
  10. I seem to recall having some weird transfer issue w/ my RH10 when I first hooked it up to Sonic Stage... (maybe I was trying the native mp3 thing). So I went back to using my NH900 as my PC interface device exclusively.
  11. I thought I read a posting that said not only is 3.2 the last version, but next year Sony is ditching SS with the new itunes looking one (connect-something...).
  12. Oh, I'd never do real-time... I love the convenience of the automated tracklisting data of gracenote, etc. (and to answer your question - no)
  13. I joined MD LATE in the game (almost a year ago), so I'm a hiMD-only guy... I own 3 hiMD units, 1 more on the way, and I own tons of standard MD discs, all hiMD-formatted. So obviously I love this format, and what scares me is the thought that there will be no Sonic Stage support a few years from now, meaning should I need to upgrade my XP operating system... I'll have no way to transfer new CDs to my hiMDs??
  14. I did a lot of research on these, and found that the best one (and I have one now) is This iRiver AFT 100 Mobile FM Transmitter unit. Generally speaking it seems that FM transmitters are not that great, nor reliable, and NOT for audiophiles (nothing beats an AUX in)... however if you need one for the car and have no other solution this unit works best.
  15. Actually.. it may have been the T-board where I found it... the article talked about how Sony didn't market the RECORDING aspect of MD, rather they tried to compete w/ CDs.
  16. While browsing this forum the other night, someone posted a LINK to a long review on the NH1 model, and the article had a lengthy description of the history of MD, how it went wrong, what hiMD plans to do, etc... Can anyone help me? I'm pretty sure it was a big site like Cnet, but I did a search for NH1 there, and nothing really relevant comes up, so the page may be hidden somewhere... Please help!! It was a very well written article I want to save.
  17. I agree w/ everything you just posted... especially the quote above.
  18. Just contact the store you ordered it from and give them MY shipping address. I'd love a 2nd unit But seriously, and I believe I mentioned this in the T-board forum, you'll never buy the perfect electronic gizmo that will last over 10 years, even 5 sometimes, so use what's good NOW. Sony hiMD is the BEST now, in my opinion.
  19. YES!!! Excellent point! Let's go raid the warehouse now
  20. You all SEE that beautiful photo??!! See? THAT's what I've ALWAYS wanted; a hiMD player w/ a WINDOW to SEE the disc in side spinning! Too bad that was only a concept (not to mention a CAMERA).. get me an RH10 with half the body CLEAR, and thinner and... wait, production is done, what am I talking about? Oh yeah, this forum used to be a place of DREAMS and WISHES... now it's an obituary column.
  21. Yes, the blue hi-MD discs come in the small slip-sleeves.
  22. I've purchased those jewel case-like MD cases before... I just wish they sold the Sony "slip-in sleeves", if you will, that come with most Sony blanks. Those rule, but I've never seen them sold separately. Maybe next time someone gives up all their blanks on Ebay, I'll buy them for the sleeves, tho that could be more money than they're worth.
  23. I wish my job was so important that people were talking about my daily meeting schedule in an international forum.
  24. When the stakes are high, you might want to have a backup 2 MD recorders rolling! (so much for stealth? - or this not a bootleg operation?)
  25. I've recorded stuff on my RH10 using a mic, did the transfer to wav without any problems at all. Solid machine, solid format (MD). I agree with optimistic-pessimist, cannot expect 100%, but I've only had 2 dud-discs in the 100+ that I own, and who knows, it could have just been bad luck... one of the discs was 10 years old, too.
