What do you mean by accumulator as it can mean different things. Apple has always been adept at forced obsolescence. Thats how they've survived.

I don't see why you'd use the backup tool. myself. You can do it manually more reliably. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...8&hl=backup

Seems to sell more than not marketing them at all, re: HiMD.

Its not your spot its an open forum. The solution to that is if you don't want replies (and don't want me to reply) you get a mod to lock the thread and make it a sticky. Not tell people not to post. Thats unworkable. Theres no personal comments in what I said at all. I just pointed out that you posted a reply, which brought the thread to our attention, which in turn prompted others to post in response. I was simply stating the sequence of events. I don't see how that is "antagonistic, sarcastic , and insulting". The facts speak for themselves. You got a reply in 11 mins of your reply bumping the thread. Cause and effect. You caused people to reply as they did. Apologies if you took offense, but I'm abit baffled why you did tbh.

Did I miss something? Its not working for me, and theres no info in the original post to indicate you need to click on them. (firewall?), no matter. I was only giving you the decency of a response. Since you bumped this thread looking for a reply. I didn't expect in replying to your questions, and offering suggestions, when no one else has, to result in being insulted. Nice. Pity because I was interested in HiMD and Guitar stuff, I can't get here. Guess I'll have to struggle with ishibashi. Good luck with it anywayz.

You replied to this thread yourself. If you didn't want further posts on the thread get a mod to lock it. Though I think replies of any kind bump the post and it will then appear in "view new posts". Which is where I saw it. Otherwise it will go off the radar. Perhaps people would be interested if you posted up some decent pictures of the stuff you got. That animated photo thingy is too small. But I'm not interested in legacy MD stuff, so maybe I'm the wrong person to suggest anything. I'd only be interested in cheap HiMD gear.

Theres a lot of lurkers on MiniDisc.org...

Can happen with anything including a MD. I don't see whats the big deal.
-
My cassette walkman broke, and in looking for a replacement I noticed used MD's were very cheap.
-
He said you won't notice it. Not that it doesn't degrade the SQ. Because it does.

You'll have to convert them. The MZ-NH700 is a 1st generation HiMD and none of them support MP3's directly.
-
They might only have tiny levels of stock. Have to say I hardly ever see HiMDs. RH1 are very rare where I am.
-
What are the figures?

I haven't heard of it before. http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-1984197.php

Looks great. Where did you get it and how much was it? -
I can only agree with that.

One of my little un's keeps taking mine. He loses them all over the place. I like the Fender ones. Any ideas where I can buy them online. The selection in the local store is dire. (international del)

Quite a few MP3 players have reusable media. CDRW, SD cards etc. So its hardly exclusive.
-
I don't understand why Sony don't do this either.

I say you'll be able to source SonicStage devices for a a few years on ebay and 2nd hand stores.

NW-E016F seems to get a lot of favorable comments. I'm thinking of getting one now myself. Nice unit. 1) ATRAC Lossless isn't support on much (if any) portable units. 2) ATRAC Lossless contains two files, a) lossless part and lossy part. The idea is the Lossless is the archival format. The Lossy bit is for portable use. Hence you create a ATRAC Lossless The bug is if you decide you want a different lossy bitrate than you made the ATRAC Lossless file with. SonicStage should use the lossless part to make he new bitrate. Its doesn't it, uses the Lossy part which is results in transcoding and worse quality. Lossless 64K = Lossless + 64k. If you want a 256kps file it will use the 64kps part to build the 256k. Its a pity because for the ATRAC fan its would be fantastic if this worked properly. That said if you make a decision to stick with ATRAC Lossless and stick with say 256k files for everything. It works well enough. I decided I couldn't hear better than 192/256k on my portables so thats what I've stuck with. I can always recode should I end up with better equipment done the line. I didn't think there is property for albums of compilation. Its only a property of tracks in SonicStage. I generally select all tracks in SonicStage and tick compilations. Makes everything group correctly in my experience. I've moved away form ATRAC myself. Was too restrictive in the devices I could use. Pity because I really liked it.
-
What happens when you tags the tracks as compilation?
-
You could use WMA Lossless in SonicStage but you lose gapless. You could use Atrac Lossless if you were happy with its limitation of only one lossy bitrate. If you have the space you could use WAV but you lose ID tags.

I've older computers here that are 13yrs + and still perfect. Everything that ran on them 10yrs ago still runs fine today. Its the same with SonicStage. Its runs on so many OS'es that even in 10yrs time you'll still be able to find an old computer to run it on.

Interesting idea. Thanks for explaining it. Personally I find cover flow and searching music via album art little more than a gimmick. More fun that really useful. Some people obviously love it seeing how people rant about cover flow. I guess I'd be interested in trying it. Viewing album art in icon size is a feature I've never heard of. Have you seen that feature in any other manager/player? I generally use MediaMonkey. I see someones written a album art plug in for it. http://www.oiltinman.com/plugins/PrettyPictures/ But as it doesn't support ATRAC thats pretty useless for you. http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13505 What ones?
