Just read Kurisu's post titled "Removing scratches from LCD screens?" He suggests using toothpaste. I may try this method as the scratch is visible but not very deep.

Thanks for looking Stuge, much appreciated! Maybe in time the part will become available. I did check with JR part search as recommended in an earlier post regarding the front panels for the NW-Exxx range, but they didn't stock them. WARNING! Never put your NW-Sxxx in your pocket with the supplied phones, the metal casing on the phones may scratch it like they did mine. Not one of my Sony devices has a scratch on them, I've only had the player for 2 weeks and it's scratched already.

Does anyone know where I can obtain a new front screen for my NW-S706F. I put the player in my pocket along with the earphones and I think the metal casing on the MDR-NC022's rubbed up against the player and left a lovely long scratch along the front of it. I know you can get the front covers for the NW-Exxx range. Also would anyone know how to remove the front cover?

1.Sound quality, 2.a decent pair of earphones, 3.noise cancelation, 4.it has a radio and 5, it's a Sony!!! and if you still have doubts take a look at Stuge's photos in his pictorial. They should give you enough justification lol.

Thanks for the review Stuge! A very good write up with some excellent pictures. The SQ on this walkman I think has surpassed previous models like the A3000/A1000 and the HD5. I tried my EX71's on the player and they really did sound good, The best I have ever heard them. Obviously not as good as the supplied phones though.

Zizone's NW-S706F/Black Review (edit: 2007/2/22)

Hi madleet3 It records with atrac 256 kbps; 128 kbps(Default setting) and 64 kbps. It also records with Linear-PCM 1,411 kbps. You can also transfer the tracks onto SonicStage to keep. -
Why not see if your local Sony shop have a copy lying about that they can let you have, or you could allways try ebay. Theres allways some scum bag trying to sell various versions of sonic stage if you don't mind paying for it.

Yep, picked up a pair of these recently and am quite impressed by them. Not a bad buy for £30.

Only with the hdd devices. There has never been a hack for any of the flash devices to date. To be honest I don't think the eu models of the new NW-S range need to be hacked, I find my one loud enough.

Thanks DSP I picked up a NW-S706FV yesterday and am quite pleased with it. The earphones sound good but on one ear they are a little uncomfortable. Even though the volume is capped I find it loud enough. I also tried the stock phones supplied with my A1200 and they sound good too. -
Thanks Debbie/Kerfuffle, I deleted the track and re-imported it. It's fine now! I thought the hard drive was on it's way out.

The sad thing is some poor muppet will end up buying them. Last year the mother in law bought me a fake sony cam-corder for christmas. I think she parted with over £100 for it. I didn't have the heart to tell her she was robbed. You should have seen this thing, it was a cheap digital camera disguised as a handy cam. The model no. was a bit of a give away. It used 2 normal AA batteries and they lasted about 5 minutes in total. My 5 year old son plays with it now.

On the commute in to work this morning my A1200 seemed to jump on one particular track, a bit like a scratched cd. I went back to the beginning of the track 3 times and it did it on exactly the same part of the track. What I am worried about is that about 2 or 3 weeks ago when I got home from work I took the player out of my pocket, put it on the table and as I took my coat off not realising I hadn't removed the headphones fully from my pocket it took a drop on to a wooden floor. It seemed to play fine and everything seemed to work when I checked it, until now. There isn't even a crack or scratch on it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Zizone's NW-S706F/Black Review (edit: 2007/2/22)

Hi DSP Is your player a European model, and if so how does it sound with the volume capped? -
Of course there is nothing I can do lol. Just thought I would share this poor looking specimen with you guys on this forum. Only an idiot would part cash for this piece of crap, and no doubt some one will.
-
Found this on ebay fake item?. Asked seller about the model number and proof of purchase, and was told he/she won them at a christmas party and he/she doesn't really need them. Apparently they are boxed and un-opened, but he/she can't tell me the model number? What a load of BS! Some poor fool will part with hard earned cash no doubt. They are the latest models apparently and only support USB 1.0; 1.1? Also a max of only 1 GB of internal memory? Just looking at them in the pictures they just look wrong. What do you guys think.

On the back of the unit there is a silver part that allows you to thread a wrist band through, it has a walkman logo on it. Somehow this part unscrews allowing the unit to be opened. I'm sure there is an earlier post regarding this.
-
Unfortunately I don't think there will ever be a volume hack for any of the flash players, going on past experience. Volume hacks only seem to apply to the hdd players like the hd-1-5 and a-1000/1200/3000 players, european models only.
-
If you are listening at higher volume levels once you have unlocked the volume, yes you will use more battery and it won't last as long.
-
A belated happy birthday Ishi! I hope it was a good one.
-
Incorrect! lol. AVLS has nothing to do with the reduced volume limit of European models which the volume hack will remedy.

Musicrooms.net is a download site that has been developed and is owned by a friend of mine and his business partner. It offers music downloads, news and interviews etc. I have provided a link for anyone who wishes to have a look. It's a relevantly new site that is just getting off the ground. Any criticism good or bad would be much appreciated. For any of you who are anti ipod, please ignore the offending advertisement on the homepage of this site. lol. musicrooms.net

Does anyone know if the European models volume level is as pitiful as the NW-EXXX models?
