  1. The problem is your NE410. It is not upload capable via USB. Your only option is to hook up via the headphone out to a line in on your computer and record it real time or hook up your deck to the computer and record real time. You would need a program like audacity to record the audio in wav format.
  2. The best quality your source can muster and your receiver (line in) can receive will be the best you can do unless you buy some better gear. Since they are old school recordings I am assuming they are SP? SP recording do not turn out bad when transferred to PC this way. Use a good shielded cable so you do not get stray hum from the cable. I have been doing it for a while with good results. Track breaks are another story. I think there are some programs like Roxio that will allow you to do track marks after the fact but I have never used them. I just record one song at a time.
  3. I see realtime wav recording in your future. Unfortunatley that would be the only way to get a usable file back on your system. Use Audacity (its free) to record the wave from your line out/headphone out to your line in on your sound card. You are going to need a 1/8th inch stereo plug cable.
  4. It depends on the unit. My R900 was my main location recorder. Now I am using an Aiwa AM-F80 for that. My Sharp MD-MT170 is used for recording CD's off the optical output on my XA1ES deck. The 600D is for playing music at work and exercising. That one is used at least 8 hours a day/ 5 times a week. I also use it to title tracks recorded on the Sharp and Aiwa. I alternate the 600D with my E80 player.
  5. I use a combination of SP and Hi-LP. I do have a lot of discs in LP2 though. I am all across the board in that respect. WAV on the computer, a little bit of MP3. For live recording it is SP mode for me.
  6. You do realize that an MZ-RH910 can be had for that price brand new?
  7. I am not an expert but are you using internal memory or a memory card? Some cards just write slower hence the extra time to register a picture.
  8. I like Sony MDR-EX71SL's and the Panasonic RP-HJE50's. I just got both and am having a hard time deciding which I like more. If I had to choose now I would probably go with the Sony's. I use them at work with just one bud in my ear too. :-D
  9. They are not going to provide the seperation that binaurals will, obviously. For my needs it performs just fine. The quality is actually very good. The housing capsule is aluminum and the electrets themselves are panasonic. The cable is durable and I have not had any problems. I don't actually clip the mic to myself because it makes for a muffled sound compared to just holding it. The cable also does not transmit sound while being handled that the recorder can pick up.
  10. I have used full sound tracks for my wife's singing. I used SP mode recorded on my R900. Worked out fine with the R900 set to "line-out" plugged into a Behringer (SP?) mixer running on some Nady amps and Yamaha reinforced loudspeaker/subwoofers. I don't know the wattage that was being run but it sounded very good.
  11. Not exactly. I purchased a capsule stereo electret mic from this guy (on ebay) and have found it to be decent: Capsule mic on eBay Keep in mind I record lectures and my neice's school band concerts. I have found it to be more than useful for what I do.
  12. If you have a firewall, make sure that gracenote has the right permissions.
  13. I think Steve Jobs has made it clear that you would not be able to replace the OS with a non-mac OS. I think it is going to be hardware locked to only accept Mac OS. Just my speculation. If so, maybe it will get hacked and we will see linux/XP macs.
  14. Hi, welcome to the board, you might want to take a look a this: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...tical+recording
  15. Hmmm, I can see where this would lead to confusing operation.
  16. I would say that LP4 is just below radio quality. I would not really use it for music listening. Lectures are good but stick with LP2 if you want a balance between quality and space.
  17. I would think you could adjust the jog dealy direction. The 600D lets you change the direction it responds to. Why would they not put it in the RH10?
  18. Welcome to the board. Translation for atrain: It sounds like your N505 is broken. It will cost you almost the same to repair it as getting a brand spankin' new generation unit. You are better off getting a new one or finding a suitable replacement on ebay for much less. Whoa!, your question was edited: As for the mic, I would use an extension cable to put some distance between the unit ant the mic.
  19. That or the disc is damaged. I had really bad luck with a batch of Fuji discs I bought at FYE. None of them worked on my 600D and only a few worked on my R900. My sharp would read them fine and one I formated them with the Sharp they would work in the other units.
  20. Well, you are going to have to record in "SP" mode in order for the E40 to play them. That will give you 80 minutes max on a disc.
  21. I think I may have mis communicated. The discs that I have from 1992 sound perfect. THey are in pristine condition and rarely see the light of day because I use my CD-R backups. It is the newer discs that I have purchased recently that sound awful. Only two of them though. NRen2k5: OPtical dubs do not solve the problem. The distortion is in the original recording. So, it shows up in the optical dubs.
  22. Then you are recording from the headphone out on a tv? That is not a very strong signal. You would be better off recording with a mic and the TV at normal volume, if your environment permits.
  23. Good info, I did not think to do this. I don't have very many CD's with this problem. A lot of my CD's are pre-1992. The one or two that do exhibit this behavior are almost impossible to listen to in my Sony ES and JVC CD decks. I am going to try this out in order to rescue those discs. Thanks!
