  1. I had the same problem and it turned out to be my USB cable the second time. The first time it was a problem with my windows installation. It did not resolve itself until I re-installed windows.
  2. My real first name is Ivan. I used to work at an EB Games (then Walden Software) and the game came out for the PS. My co-workers just started calling me that and I adopted it.
  3. I did a quicky, it came out okay but not exactly what I wanted.

    How to...

If I remember correctly he has a 600D so fake SP is possible. Since I do not use "fake" SP very often I will have to go home and actually go through the steps myself before I can write a detailed "how-to". If anyoone gets to it before I do please feel free to chime in.
  5. Okay. I am not really good at computer design but I can sketch. I'll have to scan in my sketch tonight. As far as specs, here goes: - Model Name: MZ-RHSD1 - Magnesium alloy body available in Blue, Black, Silver and Orange. - Li-ion user replaceable battery. - 2GB Hi-MD discs + SD memory card up to 1GB (most likely would be some MS based technology but this is my design, right?) - Line input/output, optical input/output, Mic in. - USB 2.0 Transfer to SD card - Ability to transfer between SD card and Hi-MD disc without a computer. - Drag-n-drop via Explorer or Mac equivalent - Slot load disc mechanism - Ability to record in PCM, Hi-MD, MDLP, Legacy, and MP3 (up to 320kbps) modes. - Gapless recording in any mode. - No DRM (well, actually, user selectable DRM to be compatible with download services.) - Full color EL (white) backlit high-res, color matched screen screen (user selectable) ie If the unit is black, the screen would have white text with a black background. User can change the colors. - Bluetooth enabled Remote with all functions available from the remote - Volume control is a "rocker" switch. If button is held down for more than two seconds it will ramp up the volume gradually. - "Play" button is also a scroll wheel. - 7 band user selectable EQ with memory for 5 user editable presets. - When in record mode the screen will switch to a red background with white lettering. - Full editing capabilities plus TOC cloning possible for all formats. - Ability to record in "linked" mode. If you run out of room on Hi-MD the unit will switch over to SD card automatically. It will also warn the user 5 minutes before space runs out by default. This is also user selectable (in 1 minute increments) as far as the lead time warning that the unit gives you. Okay here is mine. It's not a pretty drawing but you get the idea:
  6. Okay, I'll give you an "E" for effort. Now I know what to do with all those labels I have laying around.
  7. Found it: http://www.audiotstation.com/forum/showthr...3&highlight=an1
  8. ^^That is my only advice. I have WinXP Pro SP2. It did not work until I did a clean install. I might be able to dig up the thread at the T-Station I started on the same topic.
  9. No software or drivers are needed. The Xitel is supported natively by windows. I did have the problem you describe when first using the AN1 that came with my R500 and it did not resolve itself until I re-installed windows. *EDIT* It is worthwhile to note that I had a pretty mucked up install of Windows XP. It was upgraded from Win98. Once I did a clean install it alleviated a lot of problems I was having with USB devices in general.
  10. I personally never use my units to charge my batteries. Not because they do not charge them properly but because I have heard horro stories of batteries expanding and getting stuck inside the unit. My cousin has an Aiwa HX-30. He also uses an external charger. Recently he had a battery expand on him and it was a good thing it was not in the player.
  11. Is your turntable properly grounded?
  12. Just got an email from Photobucket. They removed the photo. It still looks like the thumbnail is showing up in the auction list view though.
  13. People who steal your photo's for their eBay auctions! Mine - http://forums.spodesabode.com/viewtopic.php?p=22803#22803 Theirs - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
  14. ARGH! People who use your video game system without you knowing and totally messup your saved games!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, and they were eating dorito's or something and left my controller all greasy. Where are my Clorox wipes!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I do this on a regular basis. I also have 4-6 mics plus the speaker's mic and a mixing board to do this. I hook up the line out on the mixing board to the line-in on my MD unit. I think with a single mic plugged directly into an MD unit you will find that you will need to be seated close to the speaker. You will also find that audience participation will be hard to pick up on traditional consumer mic's available. Unless you are willing to walk around with a mic in hand to capture the questions/comments you will probably not like your end product. Beleive me I have done it enough and that is why we have gone the mixer route. It does not have to be an expensive mixer. It just has to have a good number of inputs. I would go with a minimum of eight channel mixer. You can get some decent Shure mics for around $40-$50 a pop. I have also used some AKG mics that come in three packs for $99 I bought at Musician's Friend with a good level of success. If you go the Single MD/mic combo be prepared for any noise like HVAC systems or outside ambiant noise that is close to the mic to be readily apparent in the recording. I use this mic for general lecture recording: http://www.audiotstation.com/forum/showthr...&threadid=27122
  16. See my edit above^. Go into Sonic Stage and if you have the disc formated for Hi-MD you will need to reformat in NEtMD then change the settings (the setting button in the center) to transfer in SP mode. It will take longer to record since it is about 2X or 4X (I don't remember) transfer at that mode.
  17. What format are you recording in? I think the deck you have is an SP only player, so no HiMD/MDLP recorded disc will play in it. You need to record something in SP mode and try it. *EDIT* Yup, page 22 on your manual has a setting that allows you amaximum of 80 minutes of recording time. That means it is an SP only player and you need to record something in the 600D in "fake" SP/NEtMD mode for it to be playable in your deck.
  18. Due to the nature of my work I cannot go into details. What I can say is when you overdraw the USB bus strange things can happen like uninitiated reboots or lockups. In extreme cases I have seen motherboard USB headers burned, motherboard traces burned. Small fires started by overdrawing current from the USB bus. Think about it. Most every item that has some sort of USB cradle has a seperate AC charger that plugs into the base of the charger. Why? Because in most cases the USB bus is not capable of providing the current necessary to charge modern day devices. There are items that can charge via USB like cell phones but the current draw is minimal. Most devices that don't have an AC charger connected to the base do not charge the device. Some devices that come immediately to mind are PDA's. The USB dock always has a seperate AC charger. There are MD units that cannot be charged via USB even though they have a USB dock. I have to take back my comment that it "can't" be done. Maybe I should reword it to say "Be very very careful!" As long as you fall within the USB specs for current draw you should be okay. National Semiconductor has an interesting article that is relevant to this discussion. It pertains to Li-Ion charging but maybe some knowledge can be gained from looking at the schematic they have for the charger they propose: http://www.national.com/appbriefs/files/AppBrief101.pdf
  19. That is the problem, it can't. Best case scenario you will cause an instability and your system will reboot itself. Worst case scenario you will phisically damage the motherboard or yourself. Now if you tried this with a powered hub it may be a different story. I highly recommend not trying this from the motherboard USB header or any USB header directly on the computer itself. I am speaking from first hand knowledge.
  20. Mz-R900 - Link At the bottom of the page - Service Manual too: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-R900.html MZ-1, Same as above: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-1.html
  21. The MD2000's show up on eBay every once in a while. Still go for about $25 plus shipping- each.
  22. I am not sure I am following your line of thinking. Rip to sonic stage then to CD???? I think you are asking why we can't we record ATRAC3(LP2/LP4) on HI-MD formated discs. This is the way I understand it, simply put, ATRAC3 is not compatible with the Hi-MD data structure. Again, that is how I understand it. I base my stance on the Hi-MD FAQ which states:
  23. Agree. I would like to see Hi-MD discs along the line of the Bit-Clubs or HO series. Did anyone see the TDK Flower LE edition discs? Bland10000 was kind enought to get some for me. Similar to the HO design in green and orange.
