  1. 4 hours? how is that possible? what bitrate is ur music in? and how long have u had it?
  2. lol what? no mp3 please read carefully, its called the MP3 video walkma, and I mentioned in my post on the other page that it plays MP3s. yes price is rather expensive and that is a shame. the price will of course hinder sales as always. I guess sony is demanding hte extra for the video and headphones. more info here: http://generationmp3.com/index.php/2007/03...w-a800-officiel and on here http://www.dapreview.net/news.php menu is similar to old a series except, top 100 is gone and play mode is no longer on main menu.

  4. countdown is not gone lol, the walkman is to be shown in the morning on march 1st it is 5:30 pm pst time when i am writing this, therefore that is 2:30 am CET march 1st in germany, and the countdown clock on my pc says 6 hours and 28 min, so making it 9 am CET time or 8 am GMT for the reveal.
  5. if its under warrenty you will have to get it fixed, if its not, then you could try replacing the harddrive yourself since I believe it broke and has an error.
  6. I am showing 1 day and 11 hours on my end. :/
  7. the speed of transfer matters on 3 things 1. is your pc USB 2.0 or 1.0 2. is the device usb 2.0 or 1.0 3. are you encoding to atrac before transfer?
  8. here is the low down from what I can gather. again this is all assumption lol the unit has to play these format straight out of the box mp3, wma (prob no DRM), aac (no drm), atrac (a sony player with no atrac would create a hole in space and time), and Linear-PCM (otherwise wtf?) seeing as the unit is basically an evolution of the older A series, the following is prob going to be included. -a cheesy start up lol -6 band EQ -clock -screensavers (colour now) -9 language choices as in A1000 -bookmarks -top 100 -play history probably a calander and clock will be included, gimmicks, but I do use the clock occasionally since too lazy to take out cell phone what about video? well being sony, I hardly doubt they will allow divx or xvid, seriously come on. there would have to be some kind of a encoding process that would allow different video formats to play on the device. lol its like atrac all over again but for video. prob something along the lines the ipod or zune uses is my guess. Doesn't the PSP have this? according to a site the psp does use this, and converts the files to MPEG4 which is the format that the original A1000 chip supports. so I just hope the process is painless and easy. as well, I hope the screen on the A800 is a widescreen one and not 4:3. haha found this on a site regarding the program TOP TEN REASONS IMAGE CONVERTER 2 IS BUNK It is not free, and most bootleg solutions are. -It can't make full-frame MP4 video, and anything less (unless you're dealing with TV-sized clips) is a waste of pixels. -Its best framerate is supposed to be 30FPS, but it does not render all of those frames properly. -It has no settings to optimize quality for given clips -Its "Pictures" feature does nothing that a standard image editor can't, and isn't customized for PSP. -It produces file sizes nearly as big or even bigger as other programs can do with full-frame, clean-running equivalents -Its "To Be Transferred" queue still requires you to browse directories if you pre-compress, negating the point of having an easy-to-use application -It has no features for managing music -- this is just Image Converter software, and you have to get Connect software if you want the audio equivalent (Sony's Connect is also free.) -It is not in any way configured for making PSP use easy, so you can't transfer picture/movies folders, you can't transfer into the specific PSP Photo directory, and you can't be sure that you are transferring to your PSP unless you understand directory structure. -It has inspired nothing funny for this list, and Top Ten lists should always be funny ... the software's the joke here, folks. ouch. so perhaps in the near future, users will be able to make bootleg programs that will allow easier conversion and transfer to the A800. if sony goes the drm route with too many things on this device, it won't be such a huge hit as they want it to be. I really want sony to do well here, I am probably planing on buying this to replace my A1000 and the brick, aka the A3000. as a side track I recently saw this http://translate.google.com/translate?u=ht...=en&ie=UTF8 -2, 4 8 GB -plus 2 more gigs via microSD -colour LED -fm radio -recordings -pictures -video hmm I just hope sony adds fm radio, and recordings to the A800.
  9. cluttered? it has 3 buttons just like the A1000 and A3000. the extra text is for people who have never used a sony before prob, ie press and hold back to go to the main menu, and press and hold option to turn it off, simple. I take it you have no owned an A series before?
  10. yes and no, I can't elaborate further though hehe. but I currently own both the A3000 and A1000, and I hardly use the 20 gigger for anything, it is too large and cumbersome and the A1000 is so much better. I hardly even listen to more than 3-4 hours per day with the player so I don't need more than 10 gigs. 6 gigs is good, but I tend to use 320 mp3s and I make my own mixes which I tend to encode to 320 and they take up a lot of room. anyways, all I can say is sony ain;t done yet.
  11. looks like a march 1st intro date for the new 8 gigger than. looking forwards to it.
  12. lol you guys are taking the fact that it will be an ipod with sony logos way too seriously. this is sony, not whoever. lol
  13. Well one major issue was solved for me assuming the plans are still on, and thats to do with the type of storage used and how much of it is available. hold tight though for saturday.
  14. well sony is going a different route with the walkmans, was pleasently surprised when I heard it
  15. are you playing these in a cd player or mp3 player? since if your cd or mp3 player can suport mp3s don't convert.
  16. if you want a new mp3 player from sony, i'd say wait a bit
  17. only 3 places, london drugs, future shop or best buy since they might have some still in stock. But i believe sony pulled hte plug on the a series 1000 and 3000 since they were not selling very well, not sure on the numbers. I'd sell you mine but I still use it hehe. and ya ebay is expensive. tried craig's list?
  18. Looking forwards to this myself, it has prevented me from buying hte S700 series and wait for something better.
  19. well stay tuned, the news forthcoming from sony is rather interesting if all plans are still in order.
  20. If you searched the forum you would have found that out. http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1818 "As for the chip. There seem to be 3 versions of it. SCF5249 SCF5250 SCF5251 The A1000 uses the SCF5250 one (assuming A3000 uses the same one, no point for it to use a different one)."
  21. Is there something that needs fixing in the new series already? I haven't heard of any major issues as with the A series.
  22. i don't think sony is planning any more addons to the firmware on the a series.
