Go to tools, then preferences. next choose internet at the bottom, and then deselect the 2 options there. That should fix your problem.

NW-A1000 and NW-A3000: Initial Impressions
Ascariss replied to Ascariss's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
high school students get their parents to buy their stuff for them here, at least that is how I know people got their stuff in high school. I just took a loan for my uni classes and for other payments I have like cell phone and internet, I made a few extra bucks on the side and sold both my MD and CD players so I had enough cash to get the NWA's. As for the dust, ya it is getting annoying, but I don't care. The surface of the unit doesn't scratch as easily as other products, but I do have some minor scratches and dings from dropping it twice now. -
Why afraid? I've used it on a few occasions and had no problems, and my brother uses it all the time fro ebay auctions and buying stuff off websites, so far we both had no problems or concerns with paypal.
-
very safe, I wouldn't worry about using it if I were you.

I didn't need a fast pc, all I do is listen to music, write up labs for school, do assignments on the pc for classes, email, chat, and as well webct from the uni, which doesn't need a fast pc. I had no need for a fast pc in truth since all that was easily done on the older pc.

As far as I know, atrac isn't supported in sound forge, although I never checked fully, since i only use mp3s and wav files. the mp3s once opened up in sound forge are automatically converted into a file which is basically a wav file since it is rather large. You can edit it anyway you want in tthe program and the options are plenty. The program is tops when it comes to editing sound files, I use it all the time myself.

Ok, like some of you know, my CP was working fine for most of the time before the updates, and now after the updates I've had no serious issues, none what so ever, except speed. Sadly my pc was a P3 600mhz back from the late 90's and wasn't the best pc to install CP on and even though I had plenty of ram, the program was rather sluggish for me. Now I somehow managed and got across over 800 songs and synced the device plenty times since install. I was expecting to receive my bro's PC and he was going to buy a new one, well that didn't happen, instead I got a new pc. So after putting it together and some technical issues, lol, I finally loaded XP on, and then did updates all the way up to SP2. Fine. Installed other stuff to get the pc running 100% and various other programs. specs are: Intel P4, 3.00ghz 1 gig of ddr 2 ram lots of mem and xp sp2 So today, I installed CP. I wasn't sure what to expect. I heard lots of people had issues on faster pcs so I was a bit cautious. Well popped in the cd and began to install, the update option took almost 2 hours, not sure why, but once it installed. I rebooted and decided to open up CP. No songs in the database yet as well. The program opened in less than 20 seconds. Which was a nice surprise. then I went to import my mp3 directory, only 880 or so mp3s, so not that many, took it less than 2 min to import it all. Then I closed the program and wanted to see how long it would open with a database. well surprise surprise Sony, nah, it didn't take 20 seconds, nor a min, not even the 4 min I had before on my older pc. It took a staggering 31 seconds to open fully and be 100% useable. How can this be? The program itself runs just as smooth as itunes and isn't sluggish one bit. Also hooked up a3000 and it synced in less than 2 min as well. So I ask you now, am I blessed that everytime I use CP and install it, I have no problems? be it on an old pc or a brand new one? I doubt that. So why are people having problems with higher end pc's still? Could it be that I use an intel chip rather than AMD? I don't think that is the issue. I'll give it to the CP team, with all the crap they had to put up, the updates and CP have actually come through and the program runs fine regardless of what reviews say. So one more final favour to ask. People who use CP, please post up your pc specs and load up times of CP, I am curious to what you all are getting.

NW-A1000 and NW-A3000: Initial Impressions
Ascariss replied to Ascariss's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Well it's been a while now since I wrote anything here, but basically a quick update on the player. The cover still doesn't scratch that easily, there are some minor small scratches and dings, from the 2 times I've dropped it, other than that nothing major. Uhm there is a large amount of dust now under the cover and I am not sure where it's coming from, I don't want to open it and remove it since I fear I will break something or scratch it. Other than that, it works fine, sometimes the menus load slower than other times, not sure why, but I don't access the player much now with my playlists. battery life is good, and I recharge it every 2-3 days now, since I use it almost on daily basis when going to school. I can truly say the player is great, and I have no regrets that I bought it, and am happy that it was a sony that replaced my minidisc and not some other brand. Only disadvantage is sadly the screen now, in bright daylight, it's useless. -
Sorry that I didn't see this thread, but Miura get both sides of the story before trying CP. CP isn't perfect, but I would recommend it over SS, since you have all the functions working, artist link may not always work, but you can find info why that is on the board here, so I won't go into that. CP works like a charm for me, no problems, and transfers are a breeze, the files I add to my mp3 folder are automatically imported into the library every time I start up CP. Try CP out, and see how it works for you, everyone has a difference experience with it. CP does not change anything to your mp3 folders, why would it? the mp3 id tags will work fine, but remember to have all the info for it, year, genre, artist, song name, and album, otherwise you will not like what you see n the player info when you're playing a file.
-
The A series was designed in mind with CP so I use only that and personally only recommend that with the A series. No scan is needed, just import the files you ripped from the cd, and once they import, choose album view and check to see if they are all in one, if not check the album artist. if you are ripping it with CP, then this won't be a problem.
-
I would recommend you give CP a try, the newest built is quite stable and works just fine for me. I've had no problems with it yet. In CP, there is an option when ripping a CD to specify the artist and then album artist. So when ripping a cd with say 15 songs, and each song having an individual artist, the album aritist remains the same, but the individual artist is what is the actual artist. the album name has to be the same as well, in order for this to work. I've done this plenty of times, even used WMP to rip a cd to wma and transferred it over, it was a mixed cd so it has different artists as well. The tracks are as well all correctly ordered.

The 2 gig A608 is also for sale at futureshop and possibly best buy, didn't check their site. the price is 239 Canadian now, 10 bucks instant savings. the don't ship outside of canada though I think.

I've used allofmp3 once maybe last year, then got lazy. I mostly now a days use juno.co.uk, htfr.com and traxsource.com.
-
still sold here in canada, yet to see one person though with it. I've seen plenty of people with the other flash based players though. even the round shaped ones.

have you tried resetting the player? perhaps that might help?

NW-HD3 - Initial Impressions; What hiss?
Ascariss replied to MDX-400's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
No hiss on the A3000 on my end. -
I have one folder that is watched, its called mp3 and everytime I add new songs, CP automatically imports them when I start the program.
-
Uhm, well check to see if they haven't alreayd been added to the actual library, since if it is skipping the files that may be the case. next, it has nothing to do with file size, i've imported mp3 files that are well over 300-400megs into Connect player and transferred them over to my A3000.

Problem: My PC does not detect the NW-A3000
Ascariss replied to David Leth Williams's question in Audio
Hmm, uhm have you tried selecting the player on the left of the screen from the menu? if not do that, the player should be there. As well the transfer window is in the top right hand corner, click that open the transfer window. If that don't work, then try using another USB port. btw does your pc recognize the unit when you plug it in? ie as another external removeable drive? -
I don't use any particular bitrate per se, but I usually try to get it around 192 mp3 cbr, but sadly I have tons of mp3 files ranging from the measly 128 up to 320, with plenty around 40% of my mp3s being vbr at around 189-224. I am too lazy to convert my collection to atrac and as well don't have the space, and don't want to spend time transcoding it for the player especially. that might change when I get a bigger drive though,

Apart from the fingerprint magnet, my A3000 has been rather resistant against scratches from normal use. The only scratches on mine are from the time dropped, other than that, no scratches from normal use.
-
Not sure what the problem is, I tried myself at the network at the uni which has crazy speeds and i wasn't gettign higher than 1.2kb/s

Another disapponting Connect 1.0.03.1313 "update"
Ascariss replied to mgillespie's topic in Software
I should be posting this in the blog but seriously, not too many people will read that there, since more people will read this here. I had the same opinion about it when I installed it. when the update downloaded it began uninstalling the older version, so that to me worried for the library and eventually issues in the long run. After everything updated, and I rebooted, I left it for 2 days, since I was too busy to transfer files to my walkman and had about 120 mps to resort and idtag correctly. finaly got time this weekend and opened up the damn thing, and yes, it still took 4 minutes for it to open for me, like it did before, But granted the program was adding the 120 mp3's to the library automatically after I moved them to my "watched" folder. So no problem with importing mp3s. then I checked to see if all of them were there, and yes they were, replaced some others and then checked for duplicate artists/albums, found 4, with 3 being from the new mp3's imported and one being from the older mp3s. Renaming the 3 new ones took faster than I expected and the songs switched from one album to the other in less time than before the update. As well, there were some other duplicate albums which seemed to have joined together after the update. Then, I hooked up the A3000 and let it sync, thinking this would take a while and well seriously slow down CP, and even make it hang 2-3 times, nothing of this sort happened what so ever. I was puzzled. Once I connected the unit, it said connecting at the bottom, and then if I recall correctly, stated found A3000 or connected A3000, one of those 2. then the updating of the unit library began, it took a while, 750 songs, and was removing some songs I deleted on it as well. But suprisingly, no hanging up of the program and I could use it(the program) as well when it was updating the library on the unit. When transferring files, it actually shows the count of files that are left to go before transfer is finished, counting down from the top to the bottom. Also seemed to be faster with no hang ups for me like before. playlist transfer is no problem either, and interesting enough, I had one song on the playlist that wasn't in the library so the program went ahead and imported it into CP, nice touch. Finally the best part for me, and a surprise, CPU usage is down dramatically for me, and the memory usage seems to be now in the 6-16meg range, at least when I was using it. the problem is, this could all be working for me, since initially CP installed without any hitches and has worked 90% of the time since first install. -
When you run it, the update should begin downloading, if that doesn't work, try the other exe files in the directory, that should get hte update running, if not then this isn't the fault of the program, it would have to be your OS sadly since the autoupdate has always worked for me and CP runs now more like clockwork, albiet slow, but with no problems. in contrast while downloading some podcasts last night using itunes, my pc was rather sluggish, but with CP open and even transferring files, no such issue.

it has to be able to play back while charging, there is no ifs or buts, reasoning being, how else would the speaker system you can buy work? running off battery? sure but i am sure that isn't that case.
