Well depends, GYM has worked for some people with the A1000/A3000. Not everyone though. As for the mp3 manager, it doesn't work with it since it can't recognize it. Rest assured that there are people here working for a winamp plugin for the A3000 and be able to export files and playlists to the units. you can't edit actual playlists on the units themselves, although that might change in teh future.

It is most likely due to the fact that your atrac files are now 64kbps. If you still have the atrac3 files on the player, play a song, and then press option, the up arrow twice and select song information, check the quality of the song there. If you really want to use atrac format, use 132 for best quality and best battery life, or atrac 192. but if you are lazy like me, just transfer over mp3 files, will be a lot faster and better.

warn is mostly for people who disbehave and post comments if innapropriate nature. I doubt any of the mods or admins would give a warning for posting a post asking a question that as been asked already.

Dinko did it always stop playback after an album finished? I checked it out, playmode normal, not repeat and I was just listening to an album, 14 songs, oddly enough the wma albums I moved over. And after song 14 finished, song 1 began playing. So perhaps the problem is fixed? I've yet to test playlists lol.

So far the only remote working for the most part is the MC35ELK, I tried a MC33 and well it didn't work 100%.

Actually atrac3 at 132kbps is said to sound almost the same as mp3 at 192kbps, but I am not sure about that. Still when I had my MD and LP2 format at 132, the sound quality was rather good, and no complaints about it. I would say its more in between 160 and 192 mp3. If anything use atrac at 192 if you can, that is the best compromise, and if you want the longest battery life at the best quality, go for atrac 132.

Really? huh, I always thought you had to add the artwork via the properties option for the file. But the drag and drop seems much easier. thanks. This will be added to the CP FAQ.

Naviagation is actually a breeze, you don't even need the manual really to figure out the options, shouldn't take a person more than 5 minutes to learn it. It is just like a cell phone. Mp3 playback available and great sound quality and ease of navigation. Well wma support was released, so yes firmware updates are going to be released in the future if need be. as for the software, I would guess that by late january, they will have the software all working fine and stable. Seems logical since if Sony announces the new models at CES 2006 for the US market, and with sales most likely in the spring 2006, a stable and easy to use connect player is a must for the US market.

lol, now I know why I keep getting these, you seem to be mistaking the report button for the reply one. Perhaps use the quick reply option, works great if you ask me.

Well the thing is, the A3000 isn't available online except on sonystyle.ca, and I don't think they deliver outside of canada. So you are kind of out of luck trying to order the A300 yourself off sonystyle.ca. So far none of the other stores here in canada carry it yet except the sony store of course. Unless you try ebay of course, the canadian ebay might have some units on there. But the smaller A1000 is available from other stores, but you can already get the 6 gigs in Aus. I am not sure it would be cheaper ordering the A3000 here, unless you are shipping it directly to the US, which of course might be cheaper if the person marks it as a gift and doesn't charge you an arm and a leg for the unit. I am not too confident that the Sony Australia will honour the canadian warranty but I could be wrong. I would recommend either buying from japan or waiting for it to be released down under.

There was no need to uninstall it, since this is not the programs fault as well, partly. Open windows exlporer, then tools --> folder options, then file types tab at the top Let it search for the files, then go find the mp3 format, in the list, and click on mp3 once, at the bottom of that window you will see the details. Since it is different since you want it to be, click change. then select the program you want to open your mp3 files with.

recommend this player? Well I would but the problem is that everyone has had a different experience with the software so far. I have been fortunate and everything has worked 90% of the time and transferring files is no problem, which is what I wanted the software to do. The player itself I would recommend, it is a great piece of technology and one the better sony products I have come across.

GYM | Network Walkman BROWSER-PLAYER-EXTRACTOR
Ascariss replied to xispe's topic in Grab Your Music (GYM)
Backing up files doesn't involve the player at all. You backup your mp3 files on your other hard drive, not the unit itself. Either find a dvd or cd and burn your mp3s from your pc to the discs and then the cd/dvd can be used as a backup if you ever loose your mp3s. I am not sure if GYM works with the flash players, as far as I know it was designed for the hard drive units only. I've yet to get it to work on my pc, but gym isn't able to rip the music of my A1000. or A3000 yet. The files are now shown as mp3, but the folders of the ripped file are empty. Granted i don't have SS or mp3 manager install since I have no use for then. And stuge, he doesn't have a new A608, but an E507 according to his profile. So your only course of action is this, backup your mp3 files onto disc and then once you have done that, then you can safely delete the music of your flash player and then using mp3 manager 2.0, retransfer the music to it again. -
Uhm, not sure, I myself us lameXP to encode my mp3s from wav files. Reason it's free and works fine for me. I usually encode in 192, but have done vbr as well. I have plenty of mp3s in 320, but sadly 192 is fine enough for me.

Never ask sony anything. all the new players have native mp3 playback and do not conert the mp3 to atrac format. equalizer supports mp3s, atrac and wma, I have tested them all and they all function with the EQ. There are still bugs in CP, but the program works and you can easily transfer files to the player. If not you can use sonicstage 3.3 to transfer the files. Check out these threads for more info on the A3000. http://www.atraclife.com/index.php?showtopic=412 http://www.atraclife.com/index.php?showtopic=511 http://www.atraclife.com/index.php?showtopic=489 http://www.atraclife.com/index.php?showforum=7

Ok, that makes more sense. The player when connected to the PC usually gathers info from CP to update the play history and as well the fav 100 I believe. I have the same problem everytime I plug it into the PC to transfer songs over, but I only do that when I need to add new songs. Once you disconnect the device, the library should be created right off the bat and not when you turn it on again. I don't think you can change it from playing the first song over and over again everytime you update the player. If it adds the song as being played all the time, I guess the only option is to remove that song, if you don't like it that is. I for some reason don't have this problem, so I am not sure why it is happening to you. I always listen using shuffle all songs, so I've never had this occur. Anyone else experience this?

Currently I am using an external drive from Western Digital, 80 gigs. It is AC powered with USB 2.0 and transfer rate is quite fast. Setup was a breeze and the drive powers down when not in use after some period of time, 10 or 30 minutes or even an hour, never really checked. It never gets hots and it is quite and I can't hear it all when it is working, can't say the same for my internal drive. lol One point of advice, go with brand name for the external drive, since you don't want it crashing on you. I am planning on picking up a 160 gig WD external in additon to the 80 gig I already have.
-
Odd, this has never happened to me, and everytime I go to start up the player again, it plays the last song I was listening to, and from the same point I ended the song as well. One question, can you tell me the play mode you are listening to, the type of files on the device, the amount of files, how they are arranged, ie did you fill in all the info for the id tag, and etc. Be as specific as possible.
-
No, you have to go to the main menu, then settings, then find the option, initialize disk, click that. that will erase all the songs, but will keep your settings and firmware untouched.
-
Depends, if you want a higher bitrate that is the only method of getting the new files on. I wouldn't recommend using atrac, unless you have all your mp3s already converted to atrac. First update the firmware, remember to have the unit fully charged before you upgrade. Once you upgrade the firmware, check to see if it has been upgraded. If you want to re add the songs, yes you will have to delete the atrac files off the player.
-
There is your problem. atrac 64 isn't skipping, it's jus the quality of the file is really low. I recommend doing the wma update via firmware, the info can be found in the news area. Once you have that done, no more wma files will be converted to atrac.
-
Odd, indeed. Can you do me a favour and check what quality the files are on the player. When playing a song, press the option button, then press the up arrow twice and select information, does it say mp3 there?
-
Can you make your resolution go higher, ie above the 1024? if so try that and see if the accept icon appears.
-
Indeed, this does happen on my player as well, since many of my songs are VBR. Although it doesn't do it on all VBR songs, only a few. Not much to worry here if you ask me. At least the vbr mp3s work.

haha, I don't WMP, I prefer winamp for some reason, much faster on my PC. I rarely rip my cds using wmp, but I might use it if it can do mp3 format. Would have to compare it to other methods I use for ripping and how fast each is. DG55 there was supposed to be WMA support, but only after the firmware update actually. There is a member working on a plugin for winamp for the a3000, not sure on his progress, but I am sure he would also make one for WMP.
