Pity the RH1 didn't have a AA battery add-on like the NH900. The lazy option is to just buy another battery but they're so damm expensive or get another minidisc (eg NH1) that uses one too.

My RH1 turned up yesterday 06July thanks to Minidisc Australia. Looks great and is more compact than I expected. One difference from all my other Minidisc units is that it doesn't have a rubber cover over the USB port.

Thanks Sefu for applying the coupon for my order too.

[attachmentid=1795] The Sony Bianca discs would also go well with the white EH50.

"One version for the whole world" would be the quickest & easiest cost saver that Sony could implement. They already have World Tourist models for some products anyway.

The backlight on the MC33-M38 is very bright and clear so the MC40 looks a little dull in low light conditions. Multi-line display is really nice but a cerain angles it shows faint ultra-thin across the plastic which did not have a clear cling protector across it like the 33 & 38 did so I may do as you suggest and invest in a PDA screen protector. I can imagine that the short USB cord will be best when I use the NH3D with a laptop. Haven't untied the long one yet; it looks about 6 foot long.
-
Yes, the stand has NH1 on the bottom too. The plastic on it is the 'standard' silver not the darker silver of the NH600 or NHF800 which is a closer match to the unit's colour. Some times NH3D looks a lot lighter in photos or has a slight purplish tinge (I don't think it is due to chromatic abberations with the camera either) similarly to the EH1. I didn't ask AudioCubes to put the lower price on the Customs Declaration but it is something to remember when ordering from overseas. Haven't tested any of the USB cables yet. The short one is very short due it having several of those silly clamp filters. I'll probably keep the cables as spares in case I roll over one with my chair. The darker blue backlight on the MC40 remote doesn't seem as easy to read as the turquiose blue of the MC35 or 38. And I keep wanting to use the jog roller to change the volume.

Funny old world, Father's Day is Sunday 3rd September in Australia.

DMW, If you have a look at the NH900 service manual(2nd last page) available in the downloads section you can see the part numbers for the adaptor. The model number AC-ES3010K is the same for all countries but the part number is different. 1-477-965-21 (JE) 1-478-423-31 (KR) 1-478-424-31 (CH) 1-478-425-51 (AEP,EE,E18) 1-478-426-51 (UK, HK) 1-478-427-31 (US, CND, TW) 1-478-428-31 (AUS) You could contact your Sony spare parts supplier for an adaptor suitable for your country. Otherwise try an electronics shop for a regulated adaptor with the correct voltage and current output. And also the right shape of connector to fit the charging stand. Alternatively you could try a voltage converter but that is just another thing to plug into the wall socket.

thanks TLV and Richyhu, The pictures weren't as sharp as I'd have liked as I could not get the light quite right. The little yellow creature at her knees made me think of FinalFantasy for some reason, Pokemon never occurred to me. Better brush up on my manga.

You would get a fair idea of the silver NH3D by reducing the colour on Jaylen's pictorial to grey. This one is from AudioCubes. Ordered 6June and picked up at PostOffice 15June which is a pretty good Japan to Australia service. Here is AudioCubes Customs Declaration where they'd ticked "gift" and noted the contents as audio accessories $50 (which helps avoid import duties but could cause problems if trying to claim insurance if it got lost?) The box looks a bit old. Came with long and short USB cables. Standard earphones with an earphone extension cord. A 100v adaptor & no 1GB HiMD disc (all my other HiMD came with a blank) A bunch of all Japanese manuals on really thin paper. Here are is a comparison between the DH10P, NH3D & NH900 in a homage to Bland's pictorials. I haven't a clue who the figure is; my wife found it somewhere in Haymarket/Chinatown. NH3D my latest Walkman with my first NW-20. NH3 with RM-MC40ELK remote which came displaying Japanese characters. Used Ishi's RH10 instructions at T-board to change to English. USB connection on the bottom of the player with lots of Japanese writing. The Controls The NH3D is a lot thinner than the NHF800. The silver plastic on the NHF800 is a similar colour to the NH3Ds metal.

Sony Hi-MD RH1 (Black) pictorial
bogon07 replied to The Low Volta's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Great pictures TLV. Some of yours have a more dramatic style with a shorter field of focus than Ishiyoshi's. The red bits came out really well too. The sequence displays was very neat, at first it looked as if you'd bought a whole store's stock. I can feel smoke starting to come off my credit card in anticipation of the release of the RH1 here. -
Sefu, That is good news, thanks for the update. Is that why you've removed the picture of the silver RH1 from your site.
-
Drag-n-drop! with no special software! -and make Minidisc compatible with WindowsMediaPlayer * A colour display like the DH10P. * Able to use AA batteries if not then provide a portable charger for the batteries. * Jog dial. * metal body
-
As RobA says the NH700 is a much nicer unit than the NH600 particularly the jog dial. Plus the added versatility of a mic input. They both come with old versions of SonicStage so you will need to upgrade to a later version such as SS3.4 or SSCP from the forum downloads section or the SonyAsia Pacific support site. Minidisc Australia also has a link to the Sony WaveConverter Tool. http://sonyelectronics.sonystyle.com/walkmanmc/wav.html I think you need to record in HiMD mode to be able to upload to the PC "Use is presently limited to audio data that has been recorded on "Hi-MD" in PCM mode and uploaded to a computer.-about 1hr&34 mins on a 1GB disc" Minidisc Australia also includes a Bonus pack with rechagable batteries and charger, a carrying pouch and some regular Minidiscs. I think the unit comes with one 1GB Hi-MD disc so you may need to order a box or two of them as well. If you order three items then shipping is free. http://www.minidisc.com.au/default.php?cPath=1_47

Most people here would like Sony to come up with a few companion models for the RH1 for the sake of choice, backup models and just collecting the things. Perhaps a cheaper unit with AA batteries and a player. A lot of members of this forum back up their words with hard cash just look at how many units they own. The biggest danger to the MD market has and will always be Sony themselves in the way they deal with their customers and retailers. Their practice of making several versions of the same model for different markets rather than a world wide model is also commercial madness.
-
Tiesto your EH1 looks considerably thinner than the DH10P(which you left the sticker on -presumably to upset Stuge). The EH1's greyish silver goes well with your collection, more subtle than the black version although that is nice too. Did it include a long and a short USB cable ? Unfortunately it is too late for bland10000 export business to help, I've placed an order with AudioCubes for a silver NH3D.
-
Isn't the NZ-N10 battery soldered in or does it clip in.
-
Haven't seen any MD media in Sydney City JB HiFi for months. Although they still have the labels on the shelves and have boxes of mini-CDs in that area. Thanks for the update Sefu, good to hear that the RH1 is finally coming here if only in Silver. Will this RH1 be a world tourist model? It will the very interesting to see which stores will actually stock it and at what price. The recent A3000 smoozle here may have made retailers here wary of advertising Sony musicplayers.
-
Tiesto, Great pictures of a sort after unit. Everybody seems to want one these days. And your collection is expanding nicely. Glad to see you got a good result from PriceJapan. Here's mine from Tuesday: "SONY MZ-NH3D is discontinued, no more available. Don't ask price quote if MinkDisk Player's release is one year or more passed. Most of case, those old items is not available. Kaneda"
-
The MZ-EH70 is available at AudioCubes $209USD http://www.audiocubes.com/category/Home,+P...isc_Player.html It maybe cheaper elsewhere such as http://www.pricejapan.com/PriceJapan_com.htm but you'll to search for it.
-
Seems an odd sort of satin white. Accentuates the NH600 styling even more; reminds me of the SMEG retro fridge. The NH600S is my least liked MD unit and spends all its time in a Sony HiMD bag.
-
The 2004 Biancas are my favourites, as you say like the ES with a discrete use of colour. So glad I bought four boxes when they were available as they are no longer in stock at Minidisc Aust.
