Not just SONY but all the major record labels. Artists with SONY would probably be more likely to take them to court due to SONY's recent bad publicity with Rootkits hoping for atleast a decent out of court settlement.

from CNET By Greg Sandoval Staff Writer, CNET News.com Published: April 28, 2006 http://news.com.com/2100-1027-6066669.html?tag=tb "Sony playing a Cheap Trick on musicians? Two rock bands, the Allman Brothers Band and Cheap Trick, have filed a lawsuit against Sony BMG alleging that they are shortchanged when Sony divvies up royalties from digital downloads .................... .........Right now the bands receive only 4.5 cents on every 99 cent sale of one of their songs, the suit claims." Not just SONY but all record companies evidently are paid around 70 cents by the likes of iTunes for downloaded songs and by treating this sale in a similar way to a physical CD and assuming breakages, returns, etc manage to avoid paying the artist most of the royalties. Also makes you wonder what sort of margins SONY has with their ConnectStore downloads.

The AudioCubes' MZ-RH1 is probably a World Tourist Model as a multiple voltage AC adapter is listed in the accessories and probably a limited world wide warranty. Also it may have a different remote to the US version. I think Sony just stick whatever price they think the local market will pay for their products. In Australia some their stuff is close to the US/UK prices with currency conversion + 10% but others are + 40-100%. It makes not sense. Its also weird that I have to import from Canada & USA, HiMD units made in Malyasia which is a lot closer to Australia. Stuge, hopefully Sony and others will try and get into the expanding Indian market and lead with reasonable prices.

As Richyhu said it uses the same battery (LIP-4WM)as the RH1 and MZ-NH1, MZ-EH1, MZ-NH3D. The RH1 has is according to its spec the only one which can recharge the battery via the USB connection to a PC. From the DH10P service manual - here are the part numbers for the AC-ES608K3 6volt 800mAmp adaptor. 1-479-329-12 ADAPTOR,AC (AC-ES608K3) (JE) 1-479-330-11 ADAPTOR,AC (AC-ES608K3) (US,MX,TW) 1-479-331-11 ADAPTOR,AC (AC-ES608K3) (AEP) 1-479-332-11 ADAPTOR,AC (AC-ES608K3) (UK) 1-479-333-11 ADAPTOR,AC (AC-ES608K3) (CH) Incidentally the NW-HD5 harddrive player uses the same adaptor and has these two extra versions of it. 1-479-334-11 ADAPTOR,AC (AC-ES608K3) (KR) 1-479-335-11 ADAPTOR,AC (AC-ES608K3) (AUS)

Don't worry in 6-12 months you'll feel the need to add to you minidisc collection
-
tbr, good on you. So now it is 4 x MZ-NH900 ! Nice dints in that silver one atleast the LCD screen is still intact. The black ones really do look nice though. Does this mean another MZ-RH10 & MZ-DH710 to round out the collection? Or a couple of red NH900 ? You can never have too many Minidisc players or recorders.

Happy Birthday Kurisu and Jadeclaw, And a belated Happy birthday, cthulu (hope you had an eldrich time and becareful reading old manuscripts) Hopefully you will get something minidiscish to celebrate

theblueraja, If only ...... that would be a dream Minidisc unit. Especially in black with an external battery pack. -
Sorry, didn't realize you were using a laptop.

I'd prefer a colour LED for album art than have an OLED. Wish Sony had released a few different versions of the DH10P - perhaps a cheaper cameraless one (sorry tbr) -

tbr you must be very proud of the twins. The DH10P does feel very comfortable in the hand. A lot smaller than my clunky Fuji camera. And the pictures are miles better than my stupid Nokia camera phone. I counting down the days till the charger turns up so I can juice up the battery. Will you be starting a new topic with the triplets in the near future ? -
Have you thought about using a USB hub or even better installing a PCI USB 2.0 Card to double your number of ports so you can leave some cables plugged in. Hold on that's not right ....... I've now got 6 USB ports instead of 2.

[attachmentid=1612] Here is a portion of the DH10P carton with the list of components and various countries where they were made. -
Stuge are the CX300s for use with the DH10P ? I saw them in a Hi-Fi shop on Saturday and they could be replacements for the Sony EX-51s if they come to grief.
-
ATRACLife has a review of the SenCX300 with a comparison to Sony Ex71s http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1231 Here in Australia the CX300s are $75AUD while the Ex71s about $90AUD The Shure E2C is around twice the price $149AUD One reviewer compared the CX300s very favourably with the E2Cs http://www.bestheadphones.com.au/product.p...at=0&bestseller

A couple of years ago I downloaded an MP3 "GrimReverb" by Elivis Can't Surf and was surprised to see that it had album art encoded in it which was visible when loaded in SS3.4

Don't they both deserve to be immortalised in the forum ? You know Photoshopping would be cheating. -

That's not long Stuge. You could start building up your collection of songs to transfer to MD and adding the album art ready for your new addition. Hopefully my charger will arrive by the time you get your unit. I wonder when theblueraja will add another picture of both his DH10Ps together ? -

Yes and the confusing thing is that the AC-ES608K3 charger has the same name in all countries so I had to check the service manuals here on the forum for the part numbers. There are five listed for the DH10P (JE, US, AEP, UK, CH) and six (the extra one is Australian) for the NW-HD5 harddisc player. -

The DH10P was delivered yesterday. I was so seduced by TBR's pictures that I forgot to check its power requirements eg the whimpy American AC adapter or that it uses a weirdo battery and doesn't recharge via USB. I've now ordered an Australian version of the adapter, hope it works. Seems the RH1 uses the same battery and charges via USB so now there is another reason to get one of those too. That colour screen is gorgeous though. -
I agree with you on that hypotheis In News Broox Apr 5 2006 noted "apparently the people at the Sony store (Video World) got the good news from the sony rep tues! apparently avail june its a 699 rrp - but they r always cheeper . ne 1 with minidisc in adelaide will know the store" Hope Sony Australia can meet a June release date or even better that Minidisc Australia gets hold of some World Tourist Units to sell before then.
-
2 months and counting but not holding my breath. Sony Australia has a substantial record of not meeting release dates.
-
The EX81s are a sort of improved EX71 with ear clips aren't they ? The cord would have to be more substantial than that on my EX51s - it is very thin and hollow feeling. Atleast the EX90s appear to have a protective covering where the cord connects to the ear phones.
-
Thanks, just had a look at Kurisu's review of them in the ATRAClife blog. They look almost like some-one crossed a doctor's stethoscope with EX71s. Wonder how they would compare to Panasonic HJE70s ?

--> http://www.sony.jp/CorporateCruise/Press/200604/06-0403/ These Sony earphones look pretty good. They have bigger drivers at 13.5mm than the EX51 & EX71s which are 9mm.
