Good to see some new blanks but why are they still persisting with 74minute ones ?
-
They add a little more weight to be Minidisc package to make it feel more substantial so you feel you are getting more for your money. This allows Sony to get back at any of us ordering from overseas by increasing the delivery costs slightly. Also they generate a subliminal hum that induces you to buy more Sony products.
-
Depending on where you live you might consider http://www.minidisc.com.au/default.php?cPa...google.minidisc Minidisc Australia who are selling MZ-NH900 & MZ-NH1 at reduced prices with the Hi-MD bundle packs as these two include the ECMDS70P stereo microphone which is very sensitive and clear.
-
Be aware that the optical out from the DVD may allow the Minidisc recorder to detect if there is any copy protection on the DVD or CD you are recording.

RobA don't sell NH600D short, it is a downloader not just a mere player. I agree the removable media is the most fundamental and flexible advantage of minidisc. You can continually expand your music collection. I particularly like being able to devote a single disc to an artist and a 1GB can hold quite a few albums at Hi-SP or Hi-LP. Also you wonder about the life expectancy of hard-drives in portable audio players.

Thanks kurisu . The installer that required internet access worked very well to install v3.3 although it tried to access Connect for Europe. There is an installer on the AsiaPacific site which may overcome this but I'm not sure as I haven't tried installing it yet. http://www.css.ap.sony.com/consumer/templa...=Personal+Audio "In this download service, the program which has the language fit to the Operating System language will be installed. (Only for English, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese"

I can't remember if I changed my remote display or not but mine Scrolls Song name Artist Album then stops on the time display till the song ends and starts the cycle again for the new song. You can also cycle through this info by pressing the display button (it displays the song's quality eg ATRAC3/66kbps as well)

"buttons used to change tracks and volume on the RM-MC35ELK" 1. Volume is by twisting barrel end near the headphone socket in either + or - directions. You can do it one handed with your thumb and forefinger while holding the unit with your other three finger. Volume shows as a bar as you adjust it. 2. changing tracks is by sliding the raised stop/play/pause button back or forward. Roughly in the middle of the remote. 3. There are dedicated (+) and (-) buttons to change albums or folders as well. Next to the Stop/play/pause control but near the cord that goes to your minidisc player.

I use a RM-MC35ELK with my NH600 although it sometimes feels odd using it lefthanded. Have a look at the detailed guide to remotes in the forum. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8147 and there are also some good photos in the product/pictorials.

Sony's Digital Rights Mania finally lands them in court

Sony recalls risky "rootkit" CDs From CNET news "Record label Sony BMG said Tuesday that it will recall millions of CDs that, if played in a consumer's PC disc drive, will expose the computer to serious security risks. Anyone who has purchased one of the CDs, which include southern rockers Van Zant, Neil Diamond's latest album, and more than 18 others, can exchange the purchase, Sony said. The company added that it would release details of its CD exchange program "shortly." Sony reported that over the past eight months it shipped more than 4.7 million CDs with the so-called XCP copy protection. More than 2.1 million of those discs have been sold. tbr, Good to see a happy ending to your delivery story. Your black EH1 is very elegant and sophisticated. Hope your other units don't get too jealous of it. Now you just have to pick the appropriate music to play on it... How does the sound compare to your NH900 & RH10 ?

Format's demise leads to Australia facing massive Minidisc liquidation.

Justin42 The AM/FM tuner remote has an FM range 87.5-108.0 MHz and my wife's NHF800 is tuned to Australian FM radio stations with both odd and even decimal points eg 102.5, 103.2, 104.1 Does US FM have the same band range or does it start and/or end lower ? Depends on where these units are sourced from so it may be best to check with Sefu. Also the bonus pack includes a Ni-MH Battery charger BCG-34HC . It has an input 100-240V 50/60Hz 7W. The power cord to charger unit is detachable which should allow you to replace it with a cord to connect to your own domestic power supplies. -

The bizarre world of Sony Australia ! These prices are as extreme as the weather here. 10,000+ units and their bonus packs is just gigantic. Where were they hiding them all. Now we know why Sony hasn't released 2G HiMD in Australia yet. I wonder if there is a possibility of this sort of price slaughter for 2G units sometime in the future ? It would be interesting to see some statistics on Sefu's sale rates for the various units as this progresses. (Especially compared to the MZ-E310 which was the only unit for sale at Minidisc Aust for sometime) -
Congratulations. Hope you enjoy your new addition. Your collection of MD units seems to be increasing nicely.

Sony Hi-MD Walkman MZ-EH1 Pictorial
bogon07 replied to Ishiyoshi's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
You weren't tempted by a blue DH1 - too hard to come by. Sometimes that curvey mark on the front of the EH1 looks like a scratch but I suppose that gives it character. -
Ellen, Thanks for sharing pictures of your EH930. I never thought brown could look so elegant. It is nice the way the colour subtely changes in different light. Think it looks more stylish than the two new HiMD players.

Hope your black EH1 arrives soon. I've been reading your story with interest as I'm contemplating a RH10 in blue or orange from Audiocubes. Better yet put Ishiyoshi in charge of the whole MD division -

Great photos. You've also stated a really good technical reason for collecting more players and recorders. Now if I can just convince my wife .......... -
NEW: Sony Hi-MD Walkman Players - MZ-EH70 and MZ-EH50
bogon07 replied to betamaxDATminidisc's topic in News
Here's my fantasy pic of the new EH70 ORANGE.-theblueraja That is a very discreet use of orange Good to see Sony bring out some more Hi-MD units even if they are only players. Lot of white earphones and remotes rather than colour matching to the minidisc unit. Hopefully these are only the first of a Sony's reply to the new iPod announced today or yesterday. Any release dates mentioned ? -
Isn't there a new SJ-MJ500 which looks similar, coming out soon. click here Ellen: Is that a face-hugger or a very large spider back there?

This online shop also has RH910s in blue or silver @ $193US http://www.bluetin.com/stores/world/shop.html

These days it depends on which country, there seems to be a few in UK. See doomlordis' review of his MZ-RH710 (13Aug2005) http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=11669 In Australia there are no D/RH710s at all only NH600s. Anyway the main point is if you are going to buy a Hi-MD you've more flexibility for recording with a line-in as well as the USB. sonic_rage, if you have some high end net MDs perhaps you should aim for a higher spec model eg RH910 as veezhun suggested.
-
sonic_rage, Go for the MZ-RH710 which has a line-in and power adaptor insocket rather than the MZ-DH710 which is only a downloader. 2nd Generation unit Same for the MZ-NH600 rather than MZ-NH600D. 1st Generation unit.
