  1. I have an european NH600 and it has line-in and remote connection (The remote from my NH900 works perfectly on it).
  2. I'm using MD almost only for recording, and I could easily sacrifice mp3s support for the new bitrates (Especially recording at 352k). And the new bitrates are also an easier compromise to implement than 2Gb discs (which would have been nice for PCM recording, but i don't think it will happen).
  3. IMO, I don't see the point of trying to make an exact copy and re-uploading at such a low bit rate (as you should have an original CD if you were using SB).
  4. Play with SonicStage and use TotalRecorder (or simular) to grab the audio ... (search TotalRecorder for details)

    New Hi MD Model?

I don't think so, they have already two units (M100 and M10) that can upload PCM on the Mac, and i believe it to be similar. So far it looks a lot like a cross between M100 and NH1.
  6. Please avoid double posting. You will likely have to rerip your music if you have reinstalled your system. For the next time, there is a 'Backup my library' function under 'Tools' that you should use before a crash/reinstall. And if you use the latest version, you should be able to rip your music without DRM.
  7. And there is usefull backup tool with SonicStage for tracks that are encrypted.
  8. NH1 is already the top of the range. AFAIK, there's no more hacks to be done.
  9. I've seen Lars backstage signing live shows on tape. If it's for personal use, he doesn't mind.
  10. I would also suggest HiMd because of the uploading capabilities. And with more than 7 hours in HiSP, I don't see anymore need using LP2 for live recording, even if my NH900 could do it.
  11. As it appears, the recordings on those units probably don't have encryption, so the PCM recordings are almost identical to the WAV: the uploading tool just need to locate and read the data, and apply the correct WAV header. Uploading compressed tracks would require Sony to write a Mac decoder for Atrac3+, and it seems that they didn't have the budget or motivation. At the same time, it took a long way for SonicStage to be where it is now, so it's better than nothing for a first release.
  12. What about those threads ?: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=14420 http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=14120 And the various pinned threads about uploading ? The support of HiMD deck is already very low (which is a pity), so the lack of support of older legacy products is not that surprising. Windows 3.1/NT lacks full USB support, and Microsoft will do nothing about it. HiMD are recognised as mass storage unit only with HiMD formatted disc, not NetMD. The format is just different. Having said that, I'll be glad if a next gen. HiMD unit could ease NetMD uploading, but I'm not holding my breath ... Edit after Russell Letson post: I also thing it has something to do with content protection (this would surely allow prerecorded MD uploading) and/or firmare. Sony should give up on their content protection, and spend R&D to update the firmware (assuming it can be done). With their restructuration and closing of manufactures, somehow I doubt it's on their priority list ...
  13. Only european models are volume capped, so there no need for a hack on non-european units.

    mic for rh10

No, you'll need to buy a separate mic. There are actually very units with built-in mic.
  15. 45s first time, 10s the 2nd time. Specs: PII 400 Mhz 192Mb RAM. Library contains only uploaded recordings (around 25)

  17. Sony would need to build new components with low consomption, but this could be interesting. And 1 Gb HiMD would then be the equivalent of almost 2 Gb for lossless recording purpose. This could be added in the pinned thread that dex Otaku has started on improvements for HiMDs.
  18. The standard windows Format doesn't work, so it is very likely that this will not work either. HiMD must be formatted by the unit or SonicStage to fit the DRM in a hidden portion of the HiMD.
  19. In the subforum with HiMD FAQ, at the top of this forum ...
  20. Just right-click on the file within SonicStage, and you get a context menu to 'Save as WAV file'.
  21. The difference between the two has been stated previously, and the NH600D sells in North America whereas the NH600 sells in Europe , Japan, Australia ...
  22. The majority use a prismatic battery with an external AA battery attached. If you want one that use only AA, you're choose will be between the NH600 and NH700 (1st gen.). No idea about availability in stores ... (I'm in Europe)
  23. If the file has been transfered, you should be able to right click on it within SonicStage, and save as wav from the menu. Or use HiMDRenderer ... And SonicStage 3.4 is much more stable ...
  24. The recordings are stored inside DRMed .hma files, which is normal behaviour and they should not be touched. The latest release of SonicStage will let you upload the recordings as many times as you want. Can you actually play them on your RH910 ?
