  1. What do they mean??? Lossless 256kbit? A new "Fake SP" variant maybe? Is it smaller than PCM on the unit?
  2. Hardly cut in half, it's easy to test. There's always a 'per parcel' charge. A bundle weighs 2kg and the shipping charge for me is $72AUD. A MZ-E310 weighs 0.75kg and the shipping charge for that is $57AUD. 10 MD weighs 0.46kg, shipping for that kind of parcel cost $46AUD.
  3. Could really current Hi-MD devices play Lossless ATRAC3+? 2nd Gen? Or even 1st Gen?
  4. It's correct. We have three NH600 with RM-MC33EL, RM-MC35EL and RM-MC40ELK respectively. All work fine, the 40ELK of course best but is in a different price category (same price as I paid for a NH600). For the 600 there are no important differences between the 33EL and 35EL.
  5. Will hopefully have use for the NH1 icon in a week...
  6. Hasn't Sony Connect started in the UK now...?
  7. If they don't want your money, I... Can't it be you have blocked cookies and the store wants to set some cookies during checkout?
  8. OK, I believe I was early among International orders so I guess my order's in this shipment?
  9. What is this "ATRAC3 ENABLED DISC FROM SONY MUSIC" included in the bundle? A pre-recorded MD that you could otherwise buy? Can you select which disc (seems to be 6 different)?
  10. What format did you use? RH10 can play mp3, NH900 not. I don't know if there's any of the Sony formats where the players differ, but maybe.
  11. It's not entirely done yet, but I should've ordered when shipping was free over a certain amount... Now shipping would cost me three times the cost of the players... Edit: That option returned, I hope that's something that'll stand... Edit #2: Well, I got a confirmation email, so I guess it's confirmed and binding... Edit #3: No, the shipping isn't free (the site still isn't ready) but the shipping is a reasonable amount.
  12. ...but if you don't need compatibility with non-Hi MD players you would use Hi-SP for good sound quality through SonicStage.
  13. Not a solution for me, but surely interesting for many NH1 owners. For me it's just less bulk on long travels, to be without the cradle. But it could be interesting for those thinking of recording very long sessions (or being out for a long time in the wild).
  14. OK, so it's a bit more complicated... ...probably too complicated... That seems like the only viable solution, one could look for someone that has broken his NH1 and is willing to part with his (for him) useless cradle very cheap...
  15. ...and if I go away for 6 weeks...? That's the problem, I need a charger... The NH1 unit itself, being all-metal and slightly thinner, looks very good to bring for these kind of trips. Is there a close-up picture of the connector in the cradle and the hole/connector in the NH1 somewhere? Perhaps it's possible to find/create something that could work as an adapter. I agree with that CHA200 unit being a non-solution. And thanks again for your interest
  16. My search only found this charger, CHA200: http://www.hubgiant.com/p_cha100200300.html But the voltages aren't right: 3.6/3.7V, 7.2/7.4V, 10.8-11.1V or 14.4-14.8V... And one would have to be careful not to make a short and destroy the battery, maybe a small building project with plastic/spring steel. But the voltages aren't right anyway, I wonder if charging at 3.7V would do (though take longer) and/or if at 7.2V gradually (or immediately) would destroy the bettery...
  17. Thanks, for your answer. How bulky is the NH1 cradle really for bringing on travel? It looks larger than what one would like to bring on a "light luggage" trip. So, the supplied charger - is that a standard one, with a standard connector? It plugs into the cradle, but is removable? But the NH1 has a non-standard connector that only fits the cradle, and an adapter between the charger and NH1 is nowhere to be found? The cradle is the only adapter...
  18. Made this a topic of its own, since the answer is important for me because I listen to a lot of music on travels... I've read that the NH1 can't be recharged without using the cradle, and the cradle looks a bit too cumbersome to bring on backpacking-like trips... But I wonder if there aren't any small sized chargers for the LIP-4WM batteries, just remove the battery and recharge? On a trip I would like two batteries anyway, since there could be a day/night or so without electricity in some countries. Anyone know of such a recharger, preferably Universal Voltage, of course? Any experiences? Where to buy it, and batteries?
  19. That was what I feared, recalled reading that quite some time ago. But I guess there ought to be stand-alone chargers for LIP-4WM batteries, would be nice to have if you have two batteries - one in the player and one on reload...
  20. Vinyl doesn't have that great frequency range, but a HQ pressing using non-recycled vinyl, played on a highend vinyl player has a higher "apparent resolution" than the meager 16 bits of the CD format (apparent since vinyl isn't digitized and you can't count bits). When it comes to digitizing vinyl I would bypass (Hi-)MD altogether, execpt for as the end format. Buy one of Creative's new X-Fi card with built-in phono pre-amp and digitize it to your HD. Then you can de.noise/de-click if necessary and finally download it to Hi-MD.
  21. As I understand it, but I don't know for sure, it's data transfer only. No fault of the R1, music has to be merged with the other music on disc into one big file (.HMA?).
  22. Where will you use it? If at home, or at another place with a computer, you don't need the R1. Then just connect both your Hi-MD player and a standard card reader (they're cheap) by USB on you can drag-'n'-drop your photos since both devices will show up as a disc in Explorer. Without using a computer, I know of nothing else but the R1 connected to a Hi-MD player.
  23. It's a tough call which I'm contemplating at the moment... The NH1 looks better, but it feels pretty silly for me to buy it because of that when it's gonna be inside a pouch/bag/case anyway. The NH-900's ability to use AA batteries could be crucial for me when going on holiday trips. BTW, does the LIP-4WM battery last the specified 15 hours (Hi-SP) and can it take 500 recharges or so? It's pretty expensive... Is it possible to recharge the player without the pretty, but bulky, cradle?
  24. Wouldn't matter much (probably nothing) since the writing speed of a Hi-MD is so slow...
  25. Yes, the site will automatically deduct the GST. But on my order Swedish customs will add 25% Swedish VAT...
