ok,, will do;; although i am an advocate of "Voice EFX";; and "Art of Noise" Quilology.. i would rather put my mics to my Roland Harmonizer;; or my DigiTech Vocal 300 Vocal Prossssessssor.. i was TRYING to sleep;; but the CD i was listening to (Madina Lake) was mentally challenging my mind and ears.. Madina Lake shudda read this article BEFORE recording their CD;; and possibly separated their lead vocalist from the insane distorted rhythm guitar.. how can a band be so eloquently acoustic;; and defiantly EMO..!! should they have read your PDA;; PHD;; or PPP;; as to mic placement;; and studio recording;; theyr wudda put me to sleep better..
-
Madina Lake - From THem,, Through Us,, To You,, ?? !! ?? !! (it pays to have 14 grandchildren;; i get loads of free Music just copying their stuff;; this one is GOOD..!! i will remix it for her and add crossfade transitions.. 1 Here I Stand 3:23 2 In Another Life 3:11 3 Adalia 2:31 4 House of Cards 3:36 5 Now or Never 3:23 6 Pandora 3:24 7 Stars 3:59 8 River People 4:27 9 One Last Kiss 3:27 10 Me vs. The World 3:08 11 Morning Sadness 3:46 12 True Love 3:56

even though i HATE reading;; and NEVER read a book in my life;; this will be a good read;; thank you.. with all the gear i have;; i must say i love to igrore the norm and go with the instinct.. i plan to record this year's Easter Egg Hunt i put on for my 14 Grandchildren;; and this gives my an idead to record the whole thing on the Camcorder AND Hi-MD900.. i Love all their rants of how i hide the eggs TOO Hard;; and all the comments i can capture on a "House FULL of mics".. they have REQUESTED me to repeat my "Deal or No Deal - Egg Hunt" again this year;; and the recorded rants would be a source of a good year's of editing and DVD making.. as i (rayzray) always seem OT;; i am always "Right On".. never know when one year i will invite a local band to entertain at my "Peter Rabbit Egg Hunt"!!
-
thanks for that info;; although i believe i (rayzray) probably wouldn't need EG anywheres;; as i AM the former perfect man;; so;; i would record only "Perfect" channels.. maybe i should just stick to my DVD A/V direction.. the FUN of getting the best results out of "minimum gear" is "Where it's At" for me and Beck..

i think i am in a shopping slump;; i went out to buy anything and came come with a sugarfree box of waffers (39 cents);; from a "day-Old" bread place.. nice blings guys;; tomorrow i am gonna get something if it bruises me.. i thought i saw an 8 channel version of the Tascam,, and isn't a carron board illegal is some states?? oh,, i did buy 50 more blank (TDK) DVD-R's which brings me to around 1,350 blanks now..

yes,, i know that;; it's like each is a different inversion of the other;;but that Root difference makes the whole world of difference,, AND;; it is easy to omit the 6th on the Dm6 and just make it a simple Dm;; then inprovise with one of the ralated "Pentatonic" scale;; avoiding the minor-ish sound of the Harmonic Minor scale.. even an occational "Blues" scale in ther;; but it's been so long;; it was soo much FUN being a "one-Man-Band";; i could do anything i wanted;; mainly please the audience and hiding my real voice with rapid intrumental rants and ,, oh yeah;; my beloved "spring Reverbs";; Echo-Plex delay;; analog reverbs (noisy);; and Digital Reverbs;; and then all those great combinations;; the Roland Vocalizer/Harmonizer was also a great escape;; why didn't they invent MD's 20 years earlier?? oh,, late edit]] i utilize a 4 note version of the Pentatonic scale;; i leave out the 3rd note;; thus making it easier to improvise "Radically" like play different pentatonic scales over simple chords like G7 but playing a lightning run with various pentatonis with omitted 3rds..

mmmm,, so was i supposed to "approve" something myself?? i don't remember anything asking me to accept;; which i wudda.. well,, anyways;; i'll go back to washing the floors and listing to MD rayzray re-mixed music and rants..

yes;; after all these years with MD recorders and players;; i am CONVINCED that MD's are the MOST creative unit ever invented to create music,, ideas;; and just ball busting fun.. now ,, not to many of yous use the MD in the way i do;; at least the more vocal of yous.. they actually GIVE me "Ideas" and arrange for me;; and of course;; when i DJ'd;; they made me a STAR;; and blew away all the other "Regular" DJ's but;; everyone just figured i just bought some "Re-Mix" somewheres and that i was playing someone else's re-mix.. i could actually re-mix a song "on-the-spot";; on the job in "Real TIme" too.. as much as i hate Sony;; i love the MD units.. for instance:: i can take ANY song and cut/devide it up into a hundred parts;; but let's say 24 for now.. then plan a series of chord progression just like a REAL band would for and intro;; the chord progression can be taken from ANY part of the song;; don't have to actually be "Next" to each other.. then just randomly punch in random numbers in the "Program" if an MD-Deck and see/hear what happens;; some of my greatest re-mixes were just random picks;; and wrong programming;; but just sounded great.. of course "Planned" programs are the "Kat's Meow" too.. MD can "Act" just like a human;; a spontainious (sp) human.. i wonder if planted into a "Robot";; can the robot's computer and MD live in harmony and "Create" great musical masterpieces?? i am too old to for this;; so i just sit here and let my MD's create and give me ideas;; did yous think i really had all these brains myself?? if it wasn't for my 28 (now) MD units;; i probably would be an invalid in a local nursing home;; chasing the young nurses and doing musical chair rants with my 800 MD discs.. and THE special editing ones with 100 parts to a song..

nice words;; anyhows.. you got me to sit down for an hour and play Moon River in many ways.. i played it with the chords in my "Fake Book";; the chords in another book;; and the chords in my own handwritten india inked manustcript.. Mancini IS a master;; but in the key of C;; i prefer the Dm6 in the place of that Bm7b5 before the E7th chord.. like the song is really a (( i,, ii,, iv,, V)) song with temporary keys (Harmonic MINOR).. there is too much contrast between the simple and the complex;; so,, either make it ALL Complex or all simple;; and let the Melody or the Words prevail;; as when i hear that song;; i only think of my FIRST real steady girlfriend in High School or that "Wet" Cat in the Movie.. but,, i must admit;; i NEVER fooled around with the rhythm of that song;; i always kept it as a Waltz;; as opposed to when i changed Amazing Grace into a CHa CHa or a Reggae.. i do always "respect" Moon River and Mancini.. although i TEACH my piano/keyboard students to first learn the song the right way;; THEN;; rearrange it;; change it;; kill it;; better it;; and FEEL it.. i don't care what they do;; just change it;; even the instrumentation;; but it MUST convey a story or idea;; or an emotion or something like that.. oh,, thanks for getting me to play if for an hour..

mmmm;; i don't seem to grasp this "Friend's List";; i never had a friend in my life;; how does this work?? i always assumed EVERYONE was "Taking About Me''!! it started in Kindergarden when i got suspended;; and continued throughout me life. i was always at the wrong place at the wrong time;; and got blamed for everything;; but it worked to my advantage;; i could concentrate on my own musical career.. ok,, so,, i got me an "Internet Symbol" analyzer;; so,, i can actually figure out what yous are saying now.. i don't have to rely on my smart-a** 9 year old piano students to explain everything to me.. why would anyone wanna be friends with me?? i am ancient history at it's BEST!! i screwed the world and got away with it;; and as the story goes on;; lived happily ever after..
-
ok,, it's time to calm down;; i am listening to My Life with Thrill Kill Kult - 13 above the night.. i only use TWO Hi-MD discs for listing to music;; and hardly ever listen to Disc#1;; but today is the day;; i don't know if it's Atrac;; Amtrack or Aflac;; but the Duct-Taped Duck on my Red T-Shirt likes the music.. 1 The Velvet Edge / Bomb Gang Girls 3:45 2 Delicate Terror / Bomb Gang Girls 5:37 3 Badlife / Bomb Gang Girls 4:16 4 Dirty Little Secrets 3:40 5 China de Sade / Bomb Gang Girls 4:28 6 Dimentia 66 / Bomb Gang Girls 4:43 7 Final Blindness / Bomb Gang Girls 4:23 8 Blue Buddha / Bomb Gang Girls 7:15 9 Starmartyr / Bomb Gang Girls 5:46 10 Electrical Soul Wish / Bomb Gang Girls 5:30 11 13 Above the Night / Bomb Gang Girls 3:52 12 Disko Fleshpot / Bomb Gang Girls 5:03 13 Savage Sexteen / Bomb Gang Girls 3:03 14 Blue Buddha / Bomb Gang Girls Bonus Track / Master of the Ultraflesh Mix 6:10 15 Electrical Soul Wish / Bomb Gang Girls Bonus Track / Miss Hate Mix 4:14

cha cha was conservative;; i once played Amazing Grace as a "Reggae" on a stage with about 1000 ppl in front and also broadcasting to RI and MASS on "Cable TV";; and got many requests to play it that way again.. North of Boston is "Safe";; "IN" Boston is not;; it took me over 40 years to figure out how to drive and get around in Boston;; mostly under duress.. Love China Town and the neighborhood around Berkley College.. played some wedding all around Boston and north of it to;; but the BIG DIG was just tooooo much for me!!

quick answer without showing "Quotes" again.. LOL,, yes you are right and your are wrong;; like;; if 1000 musicians/arrangers arranged Moon River;; you would get 1000 VERSIONS.. i rayzray would rather DE-compose the song;; and play/sing it back different EVERY time i play it.. the accomplished musicians around here never understood how i could keep jobs for a LONG time in clubs/lounges.. i NEVER played a song the same way each time.. now those 9th tones and 5th tones were only in the FIRST beat of many measures;; which i ADMIT "Makes" the sone;; and makes it beautiful.. but it's only the melody;; and i don't believe in making the orchestra dwell over a complex chord for too long.. complexing the songs would classify it as a "Jazz Arrangement" IMO;; and everytime i play jazz in a club;; i LOST my job;; the mass of ppl can't take "Jazz" or complex music;; so un-complex it and "Feel it".. i admit i am not a Jazz musician;; but would LOVE to be one for myself;; but never studies it that much as to become one in fear of "Staving" my family.. *i'm losing my train of thought;; or;; a am in the early stages of "Alzimers disease" ??SP??* i mostly play in 4 piece bands,, trios duos and mucho as a solo with many synths.. an orchestral arrange can handle complex chords well;; buy moi (rayzray) cannot;; as i can't stand "Three Chord" songs also.. the myth about "minor" chords being sad it false;; i can ROCK on a minor chord for a long time;; well various extensions of that minor chord ;; maybe between the Harmonic,, Real Melodic and Natural to help a little!! but we keep it simple now.. i LOVE the Am (8th),, AM may7,, Am 6,, and Am 5 (D7 add9) progression;; it connotes confusion as to sadness or suduction.. or just a long synth solo up in the air.. i did say i sang for a living for over 42 years;; but i am not a great singer;; so it was either the ability to pick the right song at the right time;; or my music ability that carried me;; my instrumental rants;; my wild solos;; and my jimi hendrix/yngvie Malm... mentality.. so,, we are both right;; depends on the audience;; but i would never subject myself to a hostile audience.. as i would never post in a hostile forum.. soo, you win.. late edit and PS]] i think in 1963 i either went to a movie or a high school dance in Allentown, PA;; but can't quite remember which one..

yes;; it really cool to listen to ALL these MD unit from different stereos in different rooms;; (i should hook up my 18" full range speakers in da cellar) too.. now the "Claping tracks;; but i had an accident;; i can't see;; my wife's vacuum sucked up a tissue;; and when i tried to open it up and jiggled the hose;; the tissue and a LOT of dirt flew in my face and eyes.. i only wish i woudda been recording that;; cause the "Whoosh" sounded "Amazing".. right now,, i am listening to my OTHER project i did "All Night";; it the Target TV Commercial that has the short loops of "A Little Bit More,, A Little Bit More" then;; some vocal rant/rap then more "Little BIt...." the comeercial lasted 30 seconds (well,, maybe a minute);; my (rayzray) MD Re-mix is 7 minutes and 10 seconds long.. this could be the REPLACEMENT song that replaces "The Limbo" at parties;; cause every time i Re-Loop the whole thing;; the Little bit more " loops are LONGER in time.. i can't wait for my wife to come home from work and listen to it;; maybe we can do the ,,MMMM,, Limbo..

ok,, so i (rayzray) have toooo much time on my hands;; so,, for today,, i am gonna make a GRAND MD experiment.. ??SP?? i am gonna PLAY "laughing track" clip (loops) for about 3 or 4 minutes.... *now get this* in 6 MD players (well three MD/CD decks and three MD decks);; all at the same time;; on different stereo systems;; some in left channel and some in right.. then,, record a "House Full" of sound on my Hi-MD;; and,, play it back.. i may even try a "Clapping" one too;; depends on how much more time i have after washing the bathroom floors.. (no,, i'm not hen-pecked,, yet).. i am listening and sorting out various and different clips from my vast sound clip collection on standard MD.. i used to like to play the "F*rt" one at weddings when i DJ'd,, if,, i didn't like the bride and groom;; if you play it low in volume;; it sounded like it came from a table close to me..

((IT EVEN HAS A COAXAL DIGITAL IN!!!!!!)) that was my complaint with the Roland.. the beauty of that song (written by johnny mercer and henry mancini);; is the constant use of "OFF TONES" as i call them as the melody.. that is;; the melody note a 4th up from the Tonic of the chord as a lead in melody note to many measures.. myself i could NEVER stand and tolerate some of the chords in that song and "Changed" them to more "Normal" chords,, i HATED their use of a Bb9+5 (in key of C) instead of an "Fm"..
-
i tried something once;; if you want only speech (info) mono and can't do it;; i would record half the book on the "Left" channel;; and the other on the "Right" Channel;; then only plug in the Left ear budd to hear half the book;; and the "Right " Budd to hear the other half of the book.. of course i did that with a BIG a**ed 4 track reel-to-reel tape recorder;; but,, that technique should work.. and;; it frees your other ear to hear the world;; and traffic if you are driving;; and rattle snakes if you are hiking.. Late edit]] like;; if a book is on two cassettes/cd's or just copy that cd again;; and play both into you RH1 at the same time as u record it onto the RH1;; one into the right channel and one into the left ch;;

Lol;; i already made the Rayzray Re-mix of da Movie (Happy Feet) ;; 8 of them for my grandkids;; it features a background of rotten tomatoes in the menue;; and then i make my own "Chapters" and title them "Strangely" as I (Rayzray) interprets da movie.. while i edit these things;; i sneak sound clips into my MD-Deck;; never know when i need a Penguin's rant.. oh,, there is a Deleted scene as an extra with Steve Irwin (Crock-o-dile Hunter) doing the voice-over as an Albatross;; it's cool;; must grab that to my MD;; and of course he did the Elephant Seals voice;; RIP Crocky;; i am sure he is taking care of all my "Dead" cats and dogs!! right now i am listening to my Americal Idol DVD i made last might;; trying to fing a GOOD voice for my MD Clips;; but all i can find is Simon's "Stabbs"..
-
well,, i am listening to Music Channel in my studio and Vh1 in the Living room at the same time;; recording both on DVD/and/MD.. i think i'll put "Happy Feet" on the Kitchen DVD Player with no sound and sit there and feed da sqirrels.. i hope i can at least catch a couple good songs!!

i have TONS of keyboards (a Yamaha too);; i just have no patience for MIDI and USB and computers;; i like realtime recording;; record on 4 to 8 tracks;; down-mix to stereo and burn to CD.. mater of fact;; i lost my patience to "Play" with ANYONE cause no one in this world feels the music like i do;; after all,, i used to perform "Amazing Grace" as a Cha Cha for years and years.. i am sorry i got rid of my Roland portastudio.. i have Sonar 5 but never use it;; i would rather just play into an MD disc and replay that disc and play another part over that onto another disc a few times;; works for me.. i have no one to impress after all these years except "myself" (rayzray).. so,, there are many ways to "skin a Kat";; at least the Yamaha portastudio has REAL sliders to use;; so you can adjust multiple channels at the same time.. does this other unit do that?? what's the name of it?? (The Minidisc Killer)??
-
listening to DVD recorded #5 in my studio/room.. yes,, this is getting rediculous;; 5 recorders and 5 DVD players;; i got clickers coming out of my MMMMMM desk draws.. now,, to hook the audio out into one of my MD decks;; oh;; i am listeing to R&B-HH.. 9 DVD recorders in da house now and 9 DVD players;; i may not miss MD's IF they die out.. gee Outkast is really great!!
