i (rayzray) buy DVD-RAM discs (Panasonic) for $12.95 for 5 discs;; they are GREAT!!!! they rarely go on sale.. i use them for collecting music off the music stations ;; then erase and start over.. i save my most sacred stuff on them;; but,, i think you HAVE to use the same Brand Recorder/Player to play them back;; once i used another brand Recorder and it made me "format" it and i LOST what was on the disc!!!!!! oh,, and if i were you; i'd buy a FEW same brand recorders and players;; enough to last your lifetime.. i have 12 Panasonic Recorders now;; enough to last (my) lifetime;; and more..!! late edit]] what's nice is that you can store music in PCM quality;; and DOWN to the lows

gee,, i took all of my many 78's out to test them;; i had the cone half built;; will a safety pin work?? i didn't see any she-lack (sp) on them.. i (REMEMBER) buying some 78's when i was little.. but very few;; then,, i "UP_GRADED" to 45's;; the NEW and final medium/media.. all aside;; i think archiving is VERY important;; and i archive on CD-R's ;; DVD-R's;; Standard MD'zz (Never Hi-MD);; and,, i also have much music archived on VHS tapes in SP speed.. i would archive on a banana if i cold..

listening to Marsalis Family DVD - A Jazz Celebration (in stereo) (recorded in Auguest 4, 2001) i copied from a DVD in the library that is not an original!! (you know,, the ones with the chapters every 5 minutes). i am re-chaptering it properly and enjoying it properly.. Marsalis is playing with his FOUR sons;; a rare event,, and Harry Connick Jr plays about three songs with them!!!!! 1. Surry with the fringe on top 2. After 3. Sultry Serenade 4. Cain and Abel 5. i used to see the Dennon rack mount "Years Ago" at a local music/instrument shoppe;; what impressed me was that i think you could "loop" with it;; not sure.. like "A" to "B" thing.. this unit seems to be a duplicate of that;; maybe without the loops and A/B things.. i think there was also a "Quick start" which would ignore any silent space before the song and just play from the song when you picked a track with silence headers.. the price was never good enough to rate one;; i would rather DJ with TWO Sony 520 Decks..

thanks for the quick reply,, WaywardTraveller.. you have givem he another option in my "endless" search for the "Perfect Listening experience".. it's always been (what the ear hears;; and;; how it sounds).. money is the second hurdle,, but always approachable.. i think i have more ear buds and headsets ,, now,, than ties.. so, the tie rack is looking nicer for storing my ear/blings..

can those slanted ends be straightened out;; or,, are they permanent like that?? very interesting;; i (rayzray) like them;; my favorite buds are those soft rubbery end type;; really locks in the Bass (and locks OUT my wife's rants)..

listening to three things at once here;; and watching another on dvd.. 1. i am listening to Pirates of the Carebbean 2 soundtrack - track 12 on my HiMD900 that i have been taking on my piano lesson sessions;; i devide the students' songs into parts and put the headset on them and make them play along (on repeat).. but,, that song don't seem to "follow da beat" something's wrong!! they are idiots;; so,, my students and i (rayzray) will have to "Fix-it" (remix it and flix-it).. 2. i am also listening to TV#1 in back of me;; trying to catch some good songs on my Sony MDS-JE520 (optically).. no luck!! 3. am listining to a Movie i am copying on my Sima A/V Mixer;; need to hear it to know when it reaches the end;; when i don't hear it no more;; it's done..!! 4. and watching Stevie Wonder Concert i copied on VH1;; just trying to see his fingerwork on da keyboards;; catch a chord or two;; he don't play that complicated;; it's all the OTHER keyboard players;; including Herbie Hancock!!!!!!

you are right;; some of us have too much time on our hands;; you have a right to have a mono ear plug.. i just don't believe in too many adapters sticking into my portables units;; it puts too much pressure on the inner part of the headphone input.. as the Beatles did a LONG time ago;; they spent many many weeks and months preparing the "Perfect" Mono LP;; mono CAN be fun sometimes..
