The 4 pole 'male' end sticks into your Sharp headphone socket. The 'female' end is the 3-pole end, into which a normal 3 pole device can be inserted. Hence the 4 pole to 3 pole conversion.

You can get the fully adjustable 6 band equaliser on the European RH910 model if you apply the 2nd generation hack: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9752 This also has the benefit of removing the 2.8mW volume restriction, so it's well worth trying it. At your own risk, naturally.

It's more 'like' than love with my 40GB Vaio pocket: Pluses: Sounds great - usual Sony standard - could do with a customisable 6 band EQ, though. Looking at album overs and lyrics is truly wonderful, storage capacity very good. Transfer speeds good (for Sony). But: battery life isn't too great, not keen on the G-pad sensor, menu navigation is awkward and its a bit bulky. It's doing service as a playback unit for the hifi via line out, rather than a daily portable unit - MD still rules here as far as I'm concerned. Rating: 7.5/10

Is Sony Missing a Beat By Not Offering Hi-MD Options?
KJ_Palmer replied to Christopher's topic in News
A basic Hi-MD deck for playback and editing through stereo systems would be very useful and help to sustain interest in the format. Hi-MD car units are perhaps not so important. -
Thanks - yes you were right, JSP62 - they were all really nasty...

I'm tempted to see what "Panda" looks like at any rate Hopefully I can go back to the default when I'm sick of it... ?

Thanks Ishi - I'll give that a go when I get home then..

Sorry but how do I use them with my Vaio pocket once I've downloaded them? I can't find anything in 'Full Information' etc....?

You could consider getting some more sensitive earphones (eg. Sennheiser MX550) or isolating earphones (eg. Shure E2c). You could even use an external headphone amplifier, though this will add considerable bulk and expense...

This hissing has been reported quite a bit, but I've never noticed any hiss on my D-NE900, it seems perfectly silent in quiet passages (mostly listening to classical/accoustic music). Maybe it depends on a number of factors, in any case mine seems hiss-free

--> QUOTE(steve da b @ Mar 20 2006, 09:31 PM) ←Hi all, Anyone know if the output (2.8mw i believe) of a european model Sony MZ-RH10, can be adjusted to match that of a US model (5mw)? Reason for asking is i saw this advert here: http://www.avland.co.uk/sony/mzrh10/sony-mz-rh10.htm which made me wonder, the custom eq settings would be great too. Thanks in advance, Yes, this would be the thread you're looking for: RH10 etc. hack. You need to be careful when making the mod, but it's worth it.

For Hi-MD users SS3.4 is a must as it allows unrestricted uploads, and probably provides the most stable platform for other Sony users (apart from some exceptions)...

Not sure about the D-NE10 but I'm very happy with the D-NE900, The parameteric equaliser is great and has quite a few sound setting options. Personally the crystal clear sound is a huge advantage...

Hmmm thanks, got me quite excited there  Shame these kiddies smilies are so godawful - can't we have the normal ones?

It's silver, as stated

Yes, other remotes do work, for the basic functions anyway. The RM-MC60 (non LCD remote with MZ-RH10) when attached performs forward/back play, pause, stop and volume up/down, though group forward/back didn't seem to have any effect. When I attached the RM-MC33L (LCD remote) the same functions operated, though no title information was displayed...

The D-EJ2000 also has optical out though, though it's an old model by now. I think the onboard DAC would be bypassed, as otherwise an extra ADC stage would be needed...
-
Silly question really, but why is it important to know?
-
Sorry, I haven't even bothered with this feature on mine (yet...). I'm sure it must mention something about it in the manual. Its nice to see album covers though....

HD5, because of the battery life, size/shape and 30GB version...

Custom. With the treble turned up high.

NW-HD3 - Initial Impressions; What hiss?
KJ_Palmer replied to MDX-400's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
I dont seem to be get any hissing on my HD5, whatever I try. -
The NW-HD5 does stay in Line Out mode with the remote attached, by the way, unlike MD units and maybe the other DAPs.

Most of my audio equipment has ended up being Sony - hifi, mid fi and portables (tape,CD,MD,Hi-MD,HDD). So, while they seem to make a lot of questionable decisions as a company, they make the audio gear I like, and I really don't think that situation is going change much in the near future...

Do you just want the rubber tips for the earbuds? You can have mine - well, the small and medium sized ones, as I only use the large ones. Obviously I need the earphones themselves...
