I just got an email from B&H Audio/Video, the website where I purchased my MZ-RH1 (and 1gb discs) last year using the all-too-convenient 'Bill Me Later' system. Anyways, I was then signed up for their email list, and this morning I received an email about "Recording Superb Quality Audio & More!" Here is the link they provided to their Handheld Digital Audio Recorders Buyer's Guide, and (near the bottom of the page) our beloved MZ-M200 is listed. Their brief description: The MZ-M200 differs greatly from all of the other devices in this guide because it records audio onto Hi-MD mini-discs, as opposed to Compact Flash, SD cards, or internal hard drives. What's nice is that the discs are inexpensive, rewritable, and hold 1GB of data. The MZ-M200 comes with software for Mac and Windows for transferring files, earbud headphones, a stereo microphone, and a 1GB Hi-MD disc. You can choose to record CD-quality PCM files, or compressed file formats for more recording time. Nice to see minidisc isn't wholly forgotten yet

Pre recorded MD's / Labeled Production MD's
whatsleftofj replied to Strungup's topic in Minidisc Trades
I've got: David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust Pearl Jam - Ten Smashing Pumpkins - Machina REM - Automatic For The People and I'd love to trade/get rid of Bruce Springsteen - Born In The USA MC Hammer - Too Legit To Quit Michael Jackson - Dangerous -
I have two of those They only play 1 cd at a time, and only 1 has a headphone jack, but both play records/cds/cassettes/radio/aux. Very convenient for recording to md

I hate to say it, but I've been using my NW-A808 far more than my minidisc units since I started school again last August. I don't have a huge md library built up, and I used to just make a new day's disc each morning. Well, time doesn't permit that anymore, so this 8gb mp3 unit (which I purchased off the forums here due to it being the last ATRAC unit, I apologize to the buyer whose name I forget) has been taking the 8-hour-a-day wear-and-tear. With regards to Hi-MD vs MDLP: I have a DH10P whose battery life sucks now, and my RH1 is a bit of a pain to use because I prefer a screen. I used to have an RH10, which I absolutely loved, but I sold it to my brother to start him off in the minidisc world. I have appx. 5 Hi-MD discs that I change whenever I want to take my RH1 to work. I keep my E900 (my only MDLP unit) in my car, and I have tons of 'mix' discs that I keep in the car for 'just in case' purposes. Like if my mp3 player is dead, or I forget it at home, I still have that E900 for a backup. If I had a deck I'd probably use MDLP more, actually. I would prefer a collection of high-quality albums and mixes on MDLP as opposed to choosing 'x' amount of albums to put on one Hi-MD disc. That's what my NW-A808 is for. But I really miss md, and hopefully this summer I'll have time to actually create a minidisc library. I've got >20 sealed mds and 5 sealed hi-mds just waiting for me.

I got an 'A' on the speech, but sadly, nobody in my class seemed impressed tough sell, minidiscs are

Oh, I've got a very nice slideshow lined up so far: 15 pictures of blanks, 15 pictures of units. Most of them are borrowed from this board, but I'm hoping that people won't mind their pictures being used for the benefit of minidisc

Definitely! I forgot that I wanted to talk about how versatile it is for exchanging music. Thanks for the reminder!

I'm taking Speech 101 at my local community college, and this Wednesday night is our final speech, which must be persuasive. Since I enjoy a challenge, I'm doing my persuasive speech on, of course, minidisc. The goal of my speech is "To persuade the audience to use minidiscs instead of any other portable music device." Below is what I have so far. Please, as fellow md users, I would love your input. Specifically, I need some really strong reasons why people should use minidisc. I can simply avoid the negatives all I want, so this should be an outstanding speech--making mindisc sound awesome isn't too hard. Here's what I have so far... Introduction: Nowadays, everyone has an ipod. I have to admit that if I am to give this speech, because people treat them as some kind of new limb, an attachment that may end their lives if severed. I’m sure if I took a poll, I would find that more than half the class owns one. Well about three years ago, I thought they were the greatest thing ever… and then I bought one. Without getting into too many details, it was less than a year later when I found myself looking for a new portable music player. And then I stumbled across Sony’s minidisc, a format I had been always been interested in, but in my younger years never had the money to purchase. So the decision was made, the unit was bought, and I have been trying to convert people to minidisc users ever since. I. Minidiscs are known for their versatility. A. Minidiscs come in 60, 74, and 80 minute varieties, as well as 1gb. These descriptions are a bit deceptive, though, as reformatted 60 minute discs can hold 10 hours of music, and 1gb discs can hold up to 45 hours of music. B. In addition to playing music, discs can also be used for data storage. At $6 for a 1gb disc, it is one of the cheapest, smallest, most durable data storage devices in the world. II. Which brings me to my next point, the durability of minidiscs and players alike. A. On minidisc.org, several users report accidentally leaving discs in their pants while they went through the washing machine, and they ended up working fine once dried off. B. One user, Guido Gabriele, spoke of his minidisc player being dropped out of his pocket on a balcony, sliding down an ice-and-snow-covered roof, and landing on the driveway below. Aside from a scratch on one of the corners, it escaped unharmed and in perfect working order. III. One of the key features of minidisc units is their ability to record. A. Nowadays, most people simply rip their cd’s to a computer, or download music illegally, and then transfer it to their mp3 player. Minidiscs can do that. B. Additionally, however, minidiscs can be used with an auxiliary cable to record from any source that has a headphone or speaker jack. If you ever wanted to record an exclusive song off a band’s MySpace, or if you just want to preserve your old LPs in the best quality you can, mindisc is perfect. C. On top of that, minidiscs support microphone inputs, which is why it has long been the favorite choice of bootleggers for recording concerts. It can also be used to record lecture classes, perform an interview, or even record your band’s practices. IV. It may seem superficial, but the amazing designs of mindisc players, recorders, and the discs themselves, are absolutely unmatched anywhere else in the portable audio world A. Sony alone makes hundreds of different colors and styles of minidisc units, with colors including black, white, silver, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple, and pink, in bodies that are generally plastic or aluminum. B. Most units rely on a backlit remote control for track information, but there are several units that have backlist displays as well C. As for the discs themselves, there are hundreds and hundreds of different designs out there, ranging from solid or translucent colored or patterned to designs of animals, famous paintings, and hello kitty. V. The best reason I can give to any true music lover is, of course, the audio quality. A. The July 1996 issue of the German Magazine Stereo stated that “Considering noise, ATRAC3.5 has already reached CD level, so that minidisc can now only go beyond the CD standard. It is not a secret that this is possible.” Since then Sony’s ATRAC compression technology has only gotten better, with newer versions. ATRAC3Plus is now the standard for the latest generation of minidisc players and recorders. Conclusion: Being a minidisc user for three years this Christmas, I feel confident saying that mindisc is the best: in terms of sound quality, in terms of versatility, in terms of durability, and definitely in terms of stylishness. If you’ve ever been dissatisfied with your mp3 player, or you’re just not sure which one to buy, go with minidisc. You won’t regret it. Please feel free to add anything you think would be a good selling point. Thanks for reading!!

Nice pics, as always I love my E900. It's my car unit, generally speaking. I keep about 5 discs in my car at a time, and I just bring my E900 to the car, pop in my disc of choice, connect it to my car player via aux jack, and then take it back in my house at the end of the day. It's so small and light, I find it perfect for "press play and forget it's there" playback. Still my only MDLP unit, but I hope one day I can get an R900 and/or an E10
-
Sent me a AA attachment for my E900 that I'd been sorely needing. Arrived quickly and still works like a charm
-
Just bought an NW-A808 that was EVEN BETTER than described, and it arrived in 2 days!!! Quite a pleasure, sir. Thank you.

wouldn't we all? (the answer is, loudly, YES!)
-
I have one, though I'd kind of rather trade than sell a unit right now...

Old Sony MZ-R2 (damaged) pictorial
whatsleftofj replied to scuto's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
The pictorial section of these forums has always been my favorite because I can see real user pics of units I've never seen before Thanks for sharing! -
Wow. Looks like one of those annoying roll-around electronic cat toys mixed with a crappy ipod adapter. ...I honestly can't believe that's real. How awful
-
that. is. awesome.

Still unsure. I'm going to a community college and should have an Associate in Arts by the end of spring. After that, I'm clueless
-
I just spent almost $600 on school books! Going back to college for the first time in almost 5 years (I'll be 25 in November). I'm scared about taking out these student loans, but I need to be educated!

rayzray.... wow

i could only hear to 16.7, and i'm only 24 years old it seriously bothers me that i can't hear the ones above that. i'm gonna ask my fiancee if she can hear any higher or if our computer speakers (the ones that came with this Gateway) just suck..... EDIT: okay, i could hear 17.7 when i turned my awful speakers up a bit. the irony is my fiancee, 2 years my junior and very protective of her hearing (no loud music, seldom uses headphones, puts ear plugs in at concerts) could only hear to 16.7. i'd like to blame poor speakers and pretend i never took this awful test....

from the posts here I couldn't quite figure out, does it show song/artist/album, or does it not give the full 3-lines?

...and I'm absolutely speechless. It's so much smaller than I thought it would be. For the record, I've been using my DH-10P as my player unit for the last 6 months at work, then my E900 in the car, but I expected it to be much closer to the other Hi-MD units I've seen. Oh no, this is so small and light and amazing... It's charging now, so I haven't even tested it out yet, but I had to post because no one else I know appreciates such things. The unit is beautiful. I need to go check it out some more. Can anyone recommend a good screen protector, or are all brands the same? I don't suppose a printable template exists? No, silly question. p.s. I'm sorry to make yet another MZ-RH1 post, but I HAD to share this excitement!

Perfect! Thank you!!! I absolutely <3 the knowledgeability of this board

So this is a weird request, I know, but I'm looking for a pair of the SMALLEST covers for the Sony Fontopia MDR-EX51LP earbuds. I somehow lost one of the smallest covers, and the medium and large ones are just too big for my ears. So if anyone has a pair of the smallest fit that they could spare, I'd gladly trade for the medium or large size. It's this model, fyi: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP...._FontopiaEarbud Thank you for reading
