Yeah, it really is a shame considering that when the RH1 first started appearing on this forum, people kept praising the RH10 and some would not stop going on about how much better the RH10 was compared to the RH1. Mr. the-RH1-is-a-bad-player-as-it-has-no-jog-dial-and-can't-display-tracknames comes to mind - lol.
-
Like Sparda said, the unit is the same, but the accessories differ. In addition to the different remote, other smaller differences are: - Japanese units don't come with a 1GB Hi-MD blank - the silver JE-RH1 (and non-JE-RH1?) doesn't come with an extra short-corded USB cable; black JE-RH1 does - JE-RH1 comes with E931 earbuds (can't remember what earbuds are with the non-JE-RH1)

The documentation for the lifetime warranty for the Hi-MD 1GB disc is actually on the reverse side of the minidisc's label sheet. I'm bored, so here it is, word for word: Hope this helps. Good luck.

The infamous "BLANK DISC" strikes again. It happened to my MZ-N1. I started getting stuttered playback and then it would erase discs every now and then. Sony said they'd try to fix it for around $99, and that's IF they could even fix it. It's so not worth it. Now you have an excuse to go minidisc shopping!

I agree with Ishii/MDX. For NetMD, DR80 all the way (and you're right, it has the Auvi amp). I liked it so much that I got 2.

These sentences all point to: RH10.

Quick! Multiple choice time. #1 #2 So which one is it? Do you not come here often because of bad threads or because of your lack of time? (Don't answer that. I was only being rhetorical.) Contradicting your own opinion, in my opinion - lol, just makes you look, well, unopinionated. Before you make any comments on the moderating being done at this forum or give any tips on how to moderate, I highly suggest you spend MORE time here to make an informed judgment of the hard work that these guys do ... for FREE, every day, every week, every mo... eh, you catch my drift. You say you love this forum, but all of your comments have been somewhat negative thus far (towards members, moderators, and the forum as a whole). Saying it and meaning it are 2 different things. I surely hope that you will re-think and re-read what has been said here.

streaml1ne: You're like clockwork. Thanks again.

Wow. Since I was brought up, I'd love to reply. Adrian: Thank you for the love, but I think the basis of this thread lies deeper than my recent posts. duancg: You tried to "catch up with the latest" and you read a nearly 4-week old Classifieds ad? I'm sorry, but I can't help but think that you're using (maybe stockpiling?) these "bad" threads as fuel for your Why-MDCF-is-so-nasty argument (see: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?s=&am...ost&p=79828). So it seems as if you've had your issues with this forum since 2005 and before my time here (I joined in 2006), thus I'm not taking it personally that you chose to point me out today. I’m just convenient to help your argument, eh? Note: These bad threads are one out of hundreds. Keep in mind that MDCF is actually docile compared to most forums so when an argument does come about, it will definitely be noticeable. “ But, as non-active contributor, I don't feel that I am part of it.” Of course. If you don’t actively contribute, how can you expect to feel like you’re a part of anything? LOL Common sense, no? As for you not feeling that you are "part of it," I hate to say it, but that is really your own fault. Don’t blame the threads and bad posters. Don’t blame the moderators. And, don’t blame the forum as a whole for your lack of participation. What it all boils down to is YOU not making the most of your time at and membership to this forum. Just judging by your previous posts, it looks like you can hold a conversation. If a handful of bad threads keeps you away from here, then that is a personal obstacle that you should overcome if you want to be a part of MDCF or any forum community for that matter. The Mods can’t control everyone and everything. It is up to the members to make something happen. If you see a thread, member, or post that offends or disheartens you, do something about it – report it or reply to it. Or, do what most people do; ignore it if it doesn’t immediately concern you or doesn't unavoidably grate on your nerves. Don’t just sit there and whine about MDCF, point some fingers, pout as to why you don’t drop by more often, and then leave for a while only to return to start/join the circle of complaints all over again. Look, I’m not telling you to post more, come by every day, or become some kind of forum vigilante. But, I am asking you to not judge the entire forum by a few bad threads that sprout up every once in a while. It isn’t fair to the forum and its members and most importantly, it isn’t fair to you. Don’t deprive yourself of becoming a part of the group. Secondly, please keep an open mind and don’t let past issues get in the way and keep you away. Thirdly, to become a part of something, you MUST contribute. You can’t expect people to cater to and coddle you all the time. MDCF is a good place – maybe not for long lasting friendships, but definitely for information and entertainment. A bad apple here and there isn’t going to change that. I know you know that, too. So, stop focusing on what’s bad and make the personal effort to try to find some good. Thank you for listening. And now, a word from our sponsors…

I think that the JE520 is pre-MDLP and can play/record SP only, but the JE640 can play your LP4 MDs. Sony may not be the best, but they certainly have made the most decks. Look here under "Decks": http://www.minidisc.org/equipment_browser.html. Good luck.
-
Haha, touche. We both sound like this guy now: I'm with you on that Equipment Browser. It needs to be looked over more carefully especially since a lot of us use that as reference. Hopefully, with the new Wiki format in the works, the oversights will be fixed.
-
Right on, smkranz. The credit card company will probably tell you to try settling with Sony first anyway - at least that's what my Visa told me to do when Bloomingdale's charged me extra for a wedding gift "because the price changed at the exact second Submit Order was clicked." Visa ended up handling things in the end though and I received a refund. Time is really important especially since the charge seems to be mainly labor, something that you cannot physically return. Good luck.
-
Will the units in the Product Pictorials forum be used for this? Or, will you keep using stock pics for the new Wiki Equipment Browser? Since only Premiums and VIP can edit, I'd be happy to pair up with one (or more) of them and help out.
-
Dude. I was playing around. I even added a tongue-sticking-out smiley to show that. Ah, the smileys get no respect anymore... And for future reference, I don't kiss girls. Well, only if I've had enough to drink and dared/bribed. (KIDDING) Seriously though, not to be a drag, but your question to me was if I was certain whether or not the radio remotes work with the NH700. A simple "search" on the forum (or T-Board even) would've answered your question without the need for you to go home and check your own unit. And, you wouldn't have to read every single thread.
-
You can try entering the menu on your remote by pressing and holding down the scroll wheel for a few seconds. Scroll to "Option" and press on the scroll wheel to select. Then, check if "Backlight" is "On, Auto, or Off." Do you have any other MD units that you could test with it? The 40ELK can be used with older models. I just tested it out on a non-Hi-MD player, the E720, and the backlight works. Maybe someone with the 40ELK + NHF800 combination can try it out for you. Sometimes not all functions of the remote will work with every unit, although I'm thinking the backlight should work. Good luck.
-
Like sector said, it's best to check the warranty card that came with the unit rather than rely on what someone told you. Unless the actual warranty card (or phoned representative) from Sony is being quoted, it would be just a lot of guessing and hoping. It's looking obvious that warranties differ from continent to continent.

This news has been out and confirmed on forums since March 2006. But, it's OK. Go ahead and blame the Communists.

NetMD/SonicStage is for people who don't need or don't do field recording. Some people use SS to title discs. SP via SS is "fake SP" and lower quality than LP2. MDLP - no Auvi in Hi-MD - more selection/brands/models - some people haven't "upgraded" to Hi-MD and have no need or desire to do so - relatively cheaper, in some (if not most) cases - some people collect units Maybe when the newness of your Hi-MD purchases wears off, you'll feel a little nostalgia (or want variety and a vacation from Sony) and start putting your old Sharp into the rotation with the others. I still use NetMD and MDLP units. My SP-only deck is the only MD unit that I use daily.
-
mattwmp: Welcome to MDCF. You may want to clarify a little more. "charging deck" = 6V power adapter (that alrose312 and Mr_Bass_Man mentioned) or "charging deck" = USB & charging cradle/docking stand
-
A440 and Mr_Bass_Man: Thanks for the back-up. Wayward: The first pic that I linked is of an NHF800, which as you can see from Mr_Bass_Man's pics, has the same remote port as the NH700. Using radio remotes with both the NH700/F800 is old news on this forum.
-
There were 3 of them at that store, too.
-
NH600D ... for $34.99! My first North American unit purchase and my first time seeing Hi-MD in a non-SonyStyle/internet store. But, boo, it came in a blister pack. I prefer the black Sony boxes.
-
Unfortunately, Hi-MD-wise, only the NH700 and NHF800 can use the tuner remotes. The RH910 and others can't accomodate the radio remote's "prongs." radio remote plug (courtesy of a German MD forum): non-radio remote plug (courtesy of Ishii at MDCF): (The RH10 and RH910 are similar except for the OLED display.) Happy shopping! Hopefully, the forum can point out different e-tailers to get a Hi-MD unit to you at a reasonable price.
-
The Sony Hi-MD (or "1GB MD") units, NH700 and NHF800, can both use the radio remotes, (MC37LT or MC39LT) or "dongle." Search for the ones in bold and you may get more information from this forum. Good luck!

Here's a good place to start: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Hi-MD_Sony.html. Among the portable models, stay away from the NH600D, DH10P, RH710, EH1, and NH3D - they have no mic-in. Good luck!
