Well I was going to start off simple , A Walnut or Rosewood Stand with a USB connector embedded and the Cable routing hidden in the base . So that you can just drop the RH1 into the Stand and it will be properly supported . That is easy enough , a little routing , and some Dremel work , then wiring . Just time and energy to do it .......... 3 years I am STILLL working on this house /.............. We could've built a brand new one for less time and the same money .

Not True ........ On windows you can Upload Legacy recordings thru Sonic Rage with the RH1 Only on Mac is it limited to HiMD format .

It would have to happen , Just as soon as I downloaded the service manual for the Sony MDM4X it gives the " Battery Low" warning and stops reading discs . Go Figure update , the Sony MdM-X4 is officially dead , wont read a disc , I replaced the battery , checked the heads , Checked for shorts ........... Power to everything . But Nobody's Home.......................

I Did a test this morning , of the preamp I put together vs. the Presonus Stereo Blue Tube Preamp . Sony MD4X 4 track , inputs 1 & 2 First from the Presonus , Using my Sony ECM23F3 condenser mic . I had just changed the Tube in the preamp and wanted to make sure it was working , I put a lesser gain tube in it , a 12AT7 , instead of the 12 AX7 , With the AX7 the Presonus is know to be a little noisy when you add the drive into the signal . With the 12 AT7 noise was noticably less , output was better , and gain was smoother . But still some noise . I thought " Hmmm I wonder what this Homebuilt will sound like in comparison ( At this point I had not tried it with the Sony 4 track ) So I switched the cables , and Mic to My Preamp . WOW , what a difference , the Noise level was NO WHERE NEAR the Presonus , way quieter , and good clean solid gain . I will try to post some sample after the weekend , My Family is here so the house is noisy . tuesday I might have some time . But seriously , if you have a 4 track , you need this preamp .

The Mics for Camcorders generally run off of "Plugin Power " which is very low voltage , and current . True Phantom power is a Different animal . Condenser Mics that are XLR Balanced output generally need Phantom Power which is somewhere between 11 - 52 volts , and it will state it in the Mic specs.

Hey Tekdroid , I went to the shop where I buy the goods for these preamps , and They have a box and TWO , poptop AA holders which I can embed in the back of the case nicely Case is 180 MM wide , vs the 150 of the design above , so it isnt that much bigger . But most definately doable . Just let me know The case and Batt packs are a little extra , so I would have to include that in the budget

Yes but I am talking about as the pics show , Transfering MP3 with the HiMD DATA drive , which is NOT in its description , it isnt even supposed to work on a Mac , But it does IF you first use a Disc that has been done in the RH1 , then the Mac MD Transfer assumes that it IS an RH1 thereafter . Cool huh !

I gave the Virtual box a try , IT WORKS , I have an ,.......um ......... IT copy ?!? of XP Pro running on my Mac now ( Not that I will use it for anything )

Some extra pix and a surprise . Mac -->> Md MP3 transfer This time I just took a blank 80 Minute Sony MD , not formating in the RH1 , just took it out of the shrink wrap , stuck it in the drive to see what would happen , BAM it was recognized as a 300 MB HiMd disc ..... so apparently , the Data Drive OR the HI MD Transfer holds the ID of the previous device . Th Data drive automatically formatted the disc , if you look in the pix at the Bottom of the Transfer window , look at the Capacity . This was a Purple Sony 80 Color disc !!!! the 160 mb MP3 file took about 4.5 minutes total , whereas WAV goes a little faster , uploads are just fine

Some pix This was a PCM File recorded Optically to the RH1 , from My DVD player , using the MD Saver Pro , SCMS Bypass interface , Optical in to the MD SaverPro Optical out to the RH1 ...>>>>> To the Hi MD Data drive ( Pictured ) and the File is shown ready to transfer to the Mac or Edit the Name , Whatever . The Data Drive works Just fine ....!

would really depend on the encoding of the BT ....... There are some crappy ones Flac is only good if the source was good , so Legitimate recording , or direct copy is easily understood by my side .

250 views , and .............. Wiz , I will continue working on the Remote issue , and If I fix that , I will email you . Anyone with a 4 track recorder , You really need one of these . The improvement is substantial .
