  1. Yay ! I get the very first post in the entire Md forums here at the Sony Insider place holder . Set that aside , Lets talk MD's ......... Hardoff , had been flooded with them and I am in Japan . My kid has now gotten hooked on MD's he does NOT want an iPod , but wants Older ANALOGUE gear ( and he is 14 years old ) Dad did good !!! My Kid now has x2 MZ-R50's and a Sony CD Player , a Fiio E3 Headphone Amp , and a set of Big Panasonic Studio Phones ....... ( But he secretly begs for my Sennheisers , and I think he even think he sneaks them out of my room when I am not around )
  2. Yeah , Since the Minidisc is basically out of production now , But even though I have other digital Recorders ( Tascam ) I think if Sony used the Same concepts on the Mic Pre , in this as they did for the Sony MD's then the Quality is there . Other MD's I have used , Sharp , Kenwood , Panasonic , etc , the Mic pre section in all of them are noisy , in comparison , The RH1 with an AT-822 mic is one of the quietest recording setups there is . It was only really rivaled by the same Mic into a DAT recorder , Man that was way too clean !. The Limiter , is the only thing that was Missing on the Md recorders , ( NOT AGC, but an actual Limiter to keep from Clipping ) Seems like Sony is trying to correct that here . I sure want to hear this one .
  3. Chris , The statement , " No Special Apps needed , Just Drag and Drop " will that make this on Mac Compatible ? That would be Very cool . Right now the Cowon D2 , is the Main non iPod ,.......... Mac utility ..... but if this would recognize as just a Drive , to drop onto , then Very cool indeed.
  4. Bob123 , Are you on a Mac or on Windows using iTunes from Windows ? if you on a Mac , then this would be interesting to me as well , I actually removed iTunes from my Mac because of incompatability with other MP3 players ....... so if you could explain this a little more detailed ....... It would be VERY much appreciated . By the way Hello all , My first post here .
  5. I have done everything I can to be helpful , Wish more people felt that way

  6. I bought Both the FiiO E3 , and the E5 , I gave the E3 to my Kid , and I use the E5 . I have a Pair of Sennheiser HD215 's that cant use with the MD portables because they just dont have enough to drive them . My Opinion , The E3 will add to the Bigger Cans quite well , but definately NOT for the In Ear buds . or Lower impedance phones ( 16 ohms , I was getting hiss in the background even with nothing coming thru ) The load is really set for Bigger cans . which it does nicely . The E5 , Worked with BOTH my Sennheiser Hd215 's , and the AKG K420 's very well ... wider sound field , better detail . Not a HUGE jump in Volume ( Didnt want a Huge jump just some extra power ) which it gives . I was pleasantly surprised with them . My 2 cents .
  7. And the Shri Durga Mon , send a nicely , gracefully worn even , Blue R50 , with the Box addressed to My Kid , who , apperently from the sleepy eyes , and sluggishness this morning , did something other than sleeping , Hmmmmm I wonder what that might have been . Off to school you little RAT ! I rather like how the Battery Lid , has the Rubbed look . It has indeed been used , but at the same time fairly well taken care of . Nice solid feel to the Lid as you close a disc in , Immediate Recognition ( Mine needs a little coffee first ) So now me and my Kid have Matching ( In Color ) Blue R50's ..... The Journey each has taken , is a whole other story, No? Thank you
  8. There have been trades with me also Wiz ....... They just havent arrived there yet But should be there in a day or two !
  9. Also Found that my RH10 does the same thing , and now , I can leave the DATA drive just plugged in all the time , because , I can drop a Blank 80 minute disc in it and it automatically formats it to HImd Weird , but very very cool .........
  10. Well on the Mac with MD Transfer 2.0 ..... You dont have all the different conversion function etc of Sonic Rage , but , if it is in HiMD Mode , You can edit , and Type away for track names etc . Also If I import an MP3 file it carries the metadata with it , so on screen you get Source of file ( Web address sometimes included , kinda cool) Name of Artist , all that stuff . Recently with Audacity , When you save or export something You get a full Metadat editor window to go thru before you export that file , With all the goodies Artist , Genre , Year , Album , plus you can add more to the process if you wish . So Sonic isnt the only way to go ....... But Yeah the Labeling thing is kinda fun , I like seeing the names scroll on the remote . That being said , I still have about 300 discs that arent labeled yet
  11. If you want to Convert to MP3 there s another freebie called " Switch " from NCH Sound , there are 2 version , one is fee and limited to a set number of files at a time , and certain file types , but I dont need more than what it provides . http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html Have fun , welcome to the Forums
  12. Did you Highlight the Files before kliking the Import Button ? You have to do that . Klik one to highlight . Or Command +Klik to highlight several , or Command +A for All files . The Files will be put on your desktop . From there you can drag them into a Folder ( I keep a Shortcut to different folders in MUSIC , and when you drag a file to the shortcut it gets put in the folder in the Main partition where the shortcut leads to )
  13. First ,........do NOT mutipost the same thing all across different threads. Uncool Secondly , The DMC-K7 ( I have a similar machine in my stash ) is an SP mode only Machine . It isnt made to interface with a Computer . Period So , Your ONLY option , is to download Audacity , or Final Vinyl , both are free . and use a 1/8 Stereo ----> 1/8 stereo cable , Male plug on both ends Use the Headphone out on the Kenwood , plug into the Line input on your Mac . Go into Sound settings , and set your input for Line instead of Mic ( usually Mic is default on all Mac Laptops with Mics on them . Play the MD , Record into the Software " Real Time " That IS the only option .
  14. It Just shows , that The Baroque period , was a more carefully crafted point in time .......... We fly by the seat of our pants nowadays ....... so to speak Ahhh , for want of 1 more really good composer to grace us , another Vivaldi ........ wouldnt that be nice ?
  15. I have 2 Pre Recorded Md's , Thx to BobT from many moons ago Michael 's " Thriller " and " History" disc 1 ........ now if I could get disc 2 for the set . Also Farrah , She wasnt just Charlies Angel ....... at one point in time she was every guys poster on a wall . And every teen fantasy ......... if your a certain age , do not even try to lie . But the internet has made EVERYBODY famous now so to speak . So , Goodbye also to innocence .
  16. I have a" Pearl Jam "- Live on two legs , Pre MD if you are interested . As well as some others that I dont need in my collection .
  17. that is a Great idea , a lot less to lose , investment wise , And Practice never hurt anybody , bad technique does . Learning to do something like sharpening a blade is a personal issue , when you have a lot of experience USING blades , then you get a feel for how YOU want the blade to perform and for what purpose , but when YOU have to conform to the blades design in an unfamiliar way . that can be a tough adjustment as that we are talking about a Microscopic area of adjustment and feel . When the edge works in a way that FEELS GOOd to YOU .... then the process is much more natural , and less intimidating . The Facial hair is tougher than the arm , but the arm is a good place to test . When hair comes of WITHOUT ANY Skin pull ( which even a sharp edge on a chisel will do) Nut cutting the skin but there is a very subtle pull that happens ( some skin might flake just a little , white areas , are a sure sign ) but when hair on the arm comes off and you cant really feel the blade ,it is just like it slid off ,....then your close to face quality , a little strop action and bingo , your ready to go .
  18. The Battery is soldered to the main mother board , you have to dismantle the whole unit keeping the screws attached to a length of tape in the order you take them out , then marking all wire attachments so you can get the mother board out , and desolder the Battery from BOTH SIDES of the board ( It is a two sided board ) . and you have to be very careful about static discharge , it will fry the processors . Involved process , not really for amateur hands but if you have some technical ability , then it isnt a big deal . just time consuming . the battery is a standard CR2032 but with solder tabs , an electronics shop might have one
  19. Ahhhh The Edge ( Great Guitarist by the way, oh we are talking about steel ! ) Here is the Hint you need ......... There is a fair amount of odd Hardware and Woodworker supply stores around . So here is what you need , a 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick plate of glass ( that will be a trues flat surface ) then Wet /Dry sandpaper starting at 6000 grit then work up in this order 6000 --> 8000 ---> 10000 ---> 15,0000 if you can find it . once you get to 10000 use VERY LITTLE pressure just motion , lots of it . If you can find 15,000 then Stropping wont be as much of an issue . but a Wood block with a few layers of leather top with a smooth layer or a Cloth buffer wheel with compound and your done . As a Guitar Repair guy , I have to keep my tools really sharp or I stand the chance of messing up a customers ax , Not Good . Woodcraft Supply should be in your area http://www.woodcraft.com/ use their store locator ,........ I love woodcraft , these guys are cool.
  20. Awww com'n Narp dude ......If ya got the skills for hacking RH1 , your hands should be steady enough , No ??? Maybe I can trade ya somethin' for the Set you have if not !!!
  21. Hey Narb ...... No Intense Offended ......... Just , very much so Noob gard , issues , but if you have the skills then ups for you I am a Crafstman myself and do VERY delicate work ....... So I do understand .
  22. ?? My Joke ,..... or the Cable ..........
  23. My Edo Period razor is made from Katana Steel , the real stuff ..... You get an edge on this thing very slowly , working it up with VERY LITTLE pressure other wise you damage the edge , and somwhere around 10,000 grit , you can start the Honing process , ( Up to 10,000 is just the sharpening) from there , getting the burr down , and the true edge to come out . Then you can shave a Cats butt without him even knowing your doing it .
  24. Picked up The RH10 today ,.......... Already found a trick to make it work on my Mac ....... Yes the Impossible My RH10 is acting like an" M " YAY , And it sound really good , I love that I can access all the goodies without the remote , But The Remote ,. WOW Nice 35elk they threw in , I havent seen a 35 Elk that looks like this . I will have to post pics . Just not today , I am enjoying myself ! Basically this thing was New , or almost new ...... not a single scratch . All original twisty ties on everything and the battery was half full. I Also put some money in the bank YAAAAAAAYYYYY first time in months , Paid my wife 100 bucks , sent packages to people ( Hint Hint ) Transfered money to people ( Hint Hint ) Good day today .
