I started on the box today ( Finally ) for the supply for my Hardoff obtained Sony ECM-MS 5S Stereo Microphone a website http://www.broadcaststore.com/catalog/By-B...MMS5/ECMMS5.htm an image This Mic was (and still is ) about 1500 dollars US , I found it damaged in Hardoff , with no connectors or cables for 2,000 yen ( 20 bucks ) It has been sitting in a drawer ever since , but I obtained a cool case for the project recently . Brief descript .... 1: 5 Pin XLR input 2: Two standard 3Pin XLR outs 3: Two 1/8 " unbalanced capacitor coupled outs for Md or any other device 4: two 9 volt Batts for 18 volts Phantom power 5: LED Indicator for battery level 6: Switch for Internal Power , or External 48 volt Phantom Passthru from the XLR connections ( Mixing board ) 7: The ability to have it connected to a mixer , AND the MD at the SAME TIME ( Using both sets of connections ) Those are the objectives , I will post some pix soon of the box , I have to go to Yokohama tomorrow to find the right switch , and Battery holders .( flip up internal types if I can find them ) At the moment all the external connectors are mounted and it looks good , now I have to build the circuit , and the internals , we will see how it goes!!!! Cant wait to hear this thing

13 innings and still going , these two teams pouring their hearts out , unbelievable Baseball 9-6 bottom of the 13th inning Tokai at bat only one chance to survive , they have to score three runs to stay in the game update : KEIO wins 9 to 6 in THIRTEEN INNINGS !!!! and this was not boring baseball either , I have never seen such dirty uniforms on a DRY dAY . these guys ate more dirt and poured more heart into this than I have ever seen in any US team , Unbelievably good ball . I was routing for both teams ,.......... Tokai had cooler uniforms , but KEIO had cuter cheerleaders ......... Yokohama stadium was packed to capacity . These are the runnups to the regional championships ............... but I dont think there will be a game to match this one.

He isnt "recompressing " he stated he was recording in real time from the PC out , If you recompress an MP3 , yes you will get artifacts ( bad ones at that ) but recording in real time can actually clean up the source a little , I have experienced this many times . You have gotten to used to conversion in the computer real time although a pain to some , generally yields much better results . My R50 , just plain sounds good to me , even thought I have the RH1 , and several others of a later period . He makes perfect sense to me

As an Audio engineer , I would say 3 db is not a defect as much as it is bad matching , 3db is a considerable difference in any audio situation . My AT 822 , is matched left to right , within .25 db ......and that is acceptable , it is considered an inaudible difference . You can buy a set of matched Panasonic elements for very little money , and make a set of mics with a 70 - 19 khz response with very little effort . Dont get me wrong , I am not bashing your business , but as a basic standard , your mics should be matched when sold as a pair , a Pair means balance , and that IS what they should be . I hate going into a place , looking at a menu with a nice picture of the food , and when the plate comes , it isnt ANYTHING like what they show in the menu , I send food back , and show them the menu , and ask " Does this , look ANYTHING like This ?? " I bought an Azden preamp that touted a 70 db S/N under max gain conditions under a 200 ohm load , on Paper those are good numbers for a Battery powered pre , in reality it tested out at 46 db at 3/4 gain with very nice mics ..........It was back where it came from the next day , the store owner wanted to argue and send it for repair instead of giving my money back . I went home built my own preamps that spec at 88 db S/N and 26 db of gain , One of them is now being used by NHK television broadcasting here in Japan 3 db is not matched , in my opinion ,.............. sorry

That is the expensive part , Wireless transmitters aren't cheap The best place that will have access to the most info , is FullCompass , I have dealt with them a lot over many years , good people , good company . http://www.fullcompass.com/

Ok look at this mixer , Tapco Mix.60 .( Tapco is Mackie's budget line so you get a Good mixer on a budget price) Notice channels 3,4 , on the inputs there are two ways to go in , ( Mono =Left input only , or Stereo on 1 channel both inputs ) also notice that there is EQ on Each channel ( VERY IMPORTANT ) a little EQ can solve a HUGE amount of problems in the Bass area ( To much or to little etc .) getting a Balanced sound between all the mics , each persons dynamics are a little different , so each channel gets a little different setting for a better overall sound scape .
-
The Tapco , is much better built , and yes there are adapters for turning a balanced mic to a wireless . how many channels do you need ?
-
That is a Passive mixer for line level stuff , and it doesnt sound very good ( it is just a fixer ) for a few more duckies , you can get a MUCH nicer mixer . but yeah that is the idea.

Sony PCM D-50 , is the only LOGICAL comparison as it has basically the same mic pre in it . and it is a modern version of the MZ1 the first MD recorder , in that it has Optical In/Out , Limiter , 20 db pad as well , Live Rec level control and the signature Sony Sound that we have come to expect from MD As for MP3 recording , Tascam DR1 , but the Mics when your in Motion such as walking , have very very thin wires that will move and produce some static . Many many new recorders on the Market , that record in MP3 , but I would think that if your doing true nature /Live/whatever , you would want the Quality Look up the threads here about Tascam /Zoom/ M-Audio etc , follow the links , do some serious research before you buy . If I had the extra money right now I would get the PCM D-50 more than likely ( I know it works with my AT-822) -
Me to , I noticed that a fuse was missing , so to do any testing I am going to have to hardwire the power supply bypassing the protection , so that I can get some power to it . My bet is the fuse blew , and it was so old the owner couldnt find the right fuse , so he ditched it . It has a few small dents , and it has been well used , but looking at the circuit last night , was a thing of beauty , you just dont see point to point wiring , and Mil Spec components like that anymore , it is gorgeous inside .
-
A small mixer so that each of the Wireless receivers have its own channel and level control then run the mix to the Md unit
-
I found one of these at Hardoff today , for 300 yen , I have to fix the power part of the circuit, it doesnt power up , Might just be a fuse , who knows , will find out soon

Ok as promised quite some time ago , I said I would post some Solar stuff This one uses a Modified Silva "Solar 2" folding panel ( mine is actually putting out 16.3 open volts @ 400 ma ) break that down I can get 12 volts 520 ma under a 12 volt load The Charger uses a 7805 chip and associated circuitry for back voltage and spike protection for both the charger and Panel enjoy also a friend of mine who is a fellow guitar guru , and MD fan some pix of his shop and car

In the Fat 32 environment 2gb is generally a Max file size for WAV , I am trying to figure how your getting more than that as a single WAV ???? As for the reformatting , your stuck that audio is gone , ......... it is a good practice to at least put some well spaced track marks in the recording ( they can always be joined in the editor) Sorry to hear what happened , and I do know the feeling , I accidently erased a disc of Jam Sessions , that I have had with some very very cool musicians , Live stuff from a Blues bar in VA. and They to were irreplaceable those nights wont ever happen again .

and what does this have to do with MD ??????? or recording , or anything related to this website? " I bought the pink one cause I'm a true girl " ................. I wont touch that statement with a ten foot pole
