  1. Pink Floyd ,......... And yet again , the Russian show his depth of mental acuity. Avrin , I will guess that King Crimson will be next in the MD , or Marillion , or Gentle Giant , or ....... crap I am dating myself again ..........
  2. After I rebuild the circuit , I have it apart right now trying to find the problem , and what parts I need to get , several of the part are going to be hard to find a set of coils , and part of the preamp were fried ( Apparent damage from using a wrong adapter , probably an AC output adapter instead of the proper DC output . I can see heat marks on the circuit trace , in parts of the board , and discoloration of a few components ) Sounds like a trip to AKIBA
  3. It is an odd bird Wiz , runs on 12 volts dc , and has a Battery Compartment for 6 D Batts the Power Adapter is 300 ma , I got a Stylus , and Belt for it today , but learned that the preamp is gone ( yes it has an actual Volume control ) so I have to rebuild the preamp .No Biggie only pic online I could find Rare bird
  4. The R50 was the Pinnacle , Sony did it right with one exception Live Rec level control , The Mic preamp in the R50 is much nicer than any of the others , I have had all of them , I still have the R50 .
  5. Paid a visit to hardoff today got a Zoom 9001 processor for 2,000 yen and a Technics SL-GM12 turntable for 1,800 yen ( Needs a new cartridge )
  6. I have to try that on my Mac , I dont think it will work though
  7. I found a mark6 , but it didnt have 78 rpm , the 5 seems to be like hens teeth , I have been around to quite a few places
  8. I used to have one of those , cool machine , Line /Line out are quite hot
  9. sure , it is a Vintage and RARE piece , but it is in pretty good shape audio wise , I use it on occasion , and have used it with the AT-822 as well But take a few Tie Clip mics , etc , you know what I mean . great for doing a MD - CD mix , Blend , the Line ins get dropped to mic level and are VERY clean
  10. maybe the actual composition is a Lithium Polymer , and just labeled as LiIon ???? , Polymers were common , and are quite durable , Video Cam batts are also built more robust because of the power drain requirement , My suspicion is that it is a Lithium Polymer
  11. Hey Wiz , Spiff is correct on the Rotation and storage thing , Lithiums , slow dow their molecular displacement a lot better than NMhD 's at a cooler temp so fridging them is best thing to do , only one caution keep them in a sealed bag , with Silicon packs so they stay dry , if they condense they will be ruined
  12. Just view the slide show , PM me if anything catches your fancy ( These are MY things , I am trimming down my collection , and they are in pretty good shape ( The older Sony Mixer , is about 15 years old and Mic Level out not line level , it works very well for MD mic inputs , if you have an R50 or something like it , that doesnt have live Rec Control , this will give it to you . )

    My R91 died....

as you said tight fit , so maybe there was some corrosion on the pins in the socket , and the pressure of the other remote scraped it away
  14. I agree with that I have heard that myself , some software encoders have that prob as well , Audacity with Lame versus Peak Pro to mp3 was a big difference

  16. Look up the "Audio Home Recording Act 1992 " It referred mostly to DAT and computers , but it was part of legal processes that had been at Sony's ankles since 1971 , ongoing constant legal battles , over VCR and Betamax , recording devices . After the AHRA 1992 Sony decided to play safe and accept certain constraints . I present to you , "The Unwinding of Sony "
  17. Avrin , you Russian you , it seems like you always have a cool inside tip on the MD front , good tip , keep it up . ( and I am on a Mac ) If you ever visit Japan look me up , We need a drink .
  18. You just have to Visualize BOB ,........LOL Where is my Pina Colada ????
  19. As for # 2 , that would mean it was a NET MD model as for #3 There isnt a single MD recorder made , with that function That has been the bane of MD , no Limiter ( dont argue , I am an audio engineer and have owned almost EVERY SINGLE model of Sony's collection, still have about half) As for it being BLUE ,......... lets try this , here is a link to the MD Browser , look thru the NET MD series , see if you find it . The only other thing would be if you had the HHB Md recorder , in that case you did have a limiter , and it was Blue , and it is still made and available. Browser: http://minidisc.org/equipment_browser.html HHB Website: http://www.hhb.co.uk/hhb/int/hhbproducts/portadisc/index.asp
  20. yes this should best my 959a we will see ...... the specs are nice , low noise floor, and really good sensitivity , at 150 ohms , should pickup fly farts pretty well
  21. I can , 320 is nice , but , it ISNT CD , not in my ears .
  22. They did put the optical out on the PCM-D50 , which is what replaced the MD recording portable line for Sony , The Optical Out on MD was still under regulations of Copyright Agreements because Sony Had been Sued a long time ago over the Optical out ( MZ-1 was the first MD recorder and it had OPT output as well as input , ......subsequently the powers that were decided the possibility of Copyright Infringement was very great , and Sony was sued over it . Subsequent models did not have Opt out ............ the SUit covered any of the MD line ( portables , from thence forth ) so .......2007 arrives A FIeld Recorder does not classify the same as an MD which is a CONSUMER DEVICE , A Field Recorder is considered a PRO device , and there by bypasses some of those regulations , enter the PCM-D1 , and the Subsequent PCM-D50 ( a throwback on the name to the greatest MD's ever made MZ-R50 , MZ-RH1) a Video ( Not Mine , but a fairly good presentation)
