for lectures , and class stuff , I use my MZ-B10 , no muss no fuss . Audio from the internal mic isnt bad ( Not Great , but not bad ) , It has Line in , Optical in , Headphone out For hi fidelity recording , I grab my AT822 mic , and my RH1 ( M200 ) ................. I am on a Mac so I use MD Transfer 2.0 which is a simple flawless interface , unlike Sonic Rage , oops I mean Stage . I am on a Mac , and I dont have iTunes or an iPod ............... think about it .

Yep , I have several sets of this description . My Fave is the little Yamaha speaker ( kinda expensive , but it gets the air play ) and I use a little switchbox selector that has 4 in 1 out on 1/8" stereo connectors so I dont have to unplug anything to plug something else in I have several sets of small speakers scattered thru the house , when I master a recording I do so on my digital monitors , but to make sure it REALLY sounds good , you play it on everything before passing it on to get it copied , so switchboxes are also everywhere , that way I dont have to unplug what is already plugged in , I just plug the 1/8 stereo cable into a port and hit a button ..............

No joke , women are quite welcome , Audio is a UNIVERSAL thing , and machismo is overated . first , how did you come out of the computer , Optical or Analouge second . when you were recording did you see the meters moving indicating an input ? third , how were the sound settings on the computer ?

If you want to put music on an MD , you will have to record it real time , also to get it off the MD you set the 91 ( in the menus) to "Line Output"(Choice between headphone or line level in the menus ) The 91 is a cool unit , cool looking to , nice score dude ( I live in Japan , where are you ?)

Just got a Boss DI-1 Direct Box , for my recording project.

More Mac tips " REC " is a very simple recording program for mac , it has gone thru some changes . It was recently updated to version 2.1 and is a UB for intel This prog lets you select a Region of a recording , and exporting it as AIFF or WAV , also you can select the entire file and export that (Just dont selct anything and it will use the whole file) It also records , has a nice meter , and you can monitor the input , as well as select bit rates . but that is the extent of its capabilities , as I said it is a VERY simple prog , but that is a good thing . Audacity is for effects and more fine detail editing . REC uses very little process power ( hardly any at all ) differences are , the early version of REC ( I have both ) version 1 was an 8 channel recorder , .....simply record 8 channels simultaniously and export as individual wav files , Version 2 is a simple 2 channel recorder with a Loop function , Very useful for creating Apple Loops for Garage Band or , Drum Loops for any other editor , or Import a file and export JUST the guitar solo , as a separate file, Interviews could be broken down into constituant parts , and the renamed as individual tracks . Or a Concert that you recorded on the MD ,........ Highlight a part of the file klik the "Write " button ( the prog is from Europe ) and a window pops up , Name it , tell it were to put it , klik save your done Here is Version 2.1 http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/rec.html When you use REC , here is another tip , Go to System Preferences and open "Sound " leave it open , so that Both REC and Sound are open side by side , You now have Level Control and Input selection from the sound window

Go to you tube , type Arnel Pineda , or Journey ( Make sure to watch the interviews , there were several from different News outlets) Does Arnel have what it takes for the Road ? ......... The Voice is no question , I was blown away ......... I worry about , Burnout , to go from backwater Philippines Bar singing , directly into a World tour with one of the BIGGEST ,Bands/Audience , combination in the world or that the world has seen , .......... that can be pretty rough on someone . Steve Augeri was a seasoned vet in the arena , already a stage rat before he got to Journey ,.......... But this guy ......wow,.........dont comment untill you have taken a thorough look at him ( some of the vids arent of great quality , and the band he was with is not very good , but ....... when he sang Roxanne , ,........ all the Sting stuff this guy blew my mind , what a voice . What do you guys think ?

Ha !!! you didnt actually delete it unless you went to Finder -> Empty Trash ......... all you did was get rid of the header file , not the file itself . You have to run the process before the file is actually gone. That was funny ( I did it the first few days I was on my Mac , external hardrive that had all my Windows stuff on it , ->delete -> delete-> delete , hmmmm how come my drive still doesnt have any space?????)) Card Max , 32 gb HCSD

ok , here is what to try first , on the DR1 , see the "Menu" button , klik it , then scroll down to "Setup" , then scroll down to "Initialize " just in case the FX is locked and not showing properly , this will reset system settings , after that , look at the Bottom right corner of the screen , and see if the "FX" icon , is Blacked out ( that would mean it is ON ) if it is then klik the FX button one time , so that FX icon is Clear not Black
-
sounds like you might have had the effects on when recording , I record from Md , Line out from my Computer , From a Mixing board ( In the studio) , what version software is on yours ?
-
Look at the face of the DR1 , there is an "FX" button at the lower part of the DR1 , Press and hold it , you will se the effects menu , you can choose from a great many . or None a quick push turns it on or off , push and hold goes to effects menu .

Get an Airport express , set it up from the Mac , set it not to connect to the internet , but to power the printer ( via the USB port or Ethernet port on it ) . Password protect it so outsiders don't get in . and then your can print from anywhere in the house , Both Mac and PC will recognize it .

we didnt have time to get to hardoff Bob , what a drag , but I am sure he will be back ......

You may have hit the first known snag in MD2.0 I am on a Macbook pro with Tiger , I didnt upgrade to Leopard for exactly this suspicion , "What If " MD Transfer was designed for Tiger , and Panther , both Intel/PPC , but Leopard is a whole new ball game , in that the Core structure of OSX was rewritten , thereby introducing differences . I suspected that bugs would pop up . If you want , send the disc to me or Have a Friend who is still on Tiger transfer the files to desktop and then drop them as Wav files to DVD as data , I am in Japan . but would do that if you pay shipping and beer money ( gotta have something while I am transfering the files ya know!)
