  2. I have been guilty of the speaking the mind thing ..................... SORRY GUYS no intense offended!
  3. Have you browsed the equipment browser yet ? http://minidisc.org/equipment_browser.html
  4. have you ever seen a MZ -E33 ? AA battery , SP only from the front kinda plain , but , flip it over and it looks like a Star Trek device with the button layout . or the E800( I love this one , mine is Orange ( think of the line from Josie and the Pussycats here) . Flip Top Loader , odd bird , but cool , the Charge stand actually locks on to it , and the disc slides in from the Top , really tiny display , and the buttons are on the back . Each portable has it own quirks , they dont have to be outstanding to be special , just the fact that they STILL WORK , makes them so . You see , Sony USED to be "Cool" and the actually had love for the idea , and some of us were in love with that , a company who made something Cool , and loved what they were doing . MD is all that remains of the " Cool " part of Sony ............. and they dropped it .
  5. The S1 , a couple 420's , I collect the portables , I gave BobT my MZ1 the very first model made . He sent me a BUNch of prercordeds (Very cool ) I collect those to .
  6. tuoche' ( I want those portables you stole from ebay !!!)
  7. Wow , a mouthful but ,... I wasnt refering to home units , The Tanberg I worked with was studio gear , As was the Otari , Bang and Olufson , along with a Sony MP3056 mixing board , ADAT , .... oh well not goona go thru the list , just to friggin long to type . Nice collection , I agree with the Teac X3 , but my partiality lies with the 38 as for as Teac/Tascam goes , for RR mastering , the Otari wins but the Tandberg had a Huge Fat sound , and that had its puposes . , and also about the Sony KA3 s , never was any good ( and I like sony stuff ) the 222 wasnt bad though for a home deck . Bob T dont feed his ego ..... you know not to feed the bears at the zoo , they bite .
  8. I have an extra "Volume 3 " of Billy Joel greatest hits.... I dont know how I ended up with two of the same , but ........... If you need a song list pm me . also give me the songlist of the Korn when you do , there are 3 songs in specific I would like.
  9. yeah the Tandberg is good stuff, I have worked with Tandberg Studio reel to reel mastering , and must say that was a FAT sound . Otari 2 inch was more natural , but the Tandberg definately had FAT
  10. AHHHH Got him beat , He doesnt have the Nakamichi CR7A , ............ yet............
  11. I'm crying ,............."the lot for 10 dollars on ebay " ........... it just isnt fair
  12. Update , just got an email , the DP02CF is on its way , I will have it in two days. and all it will cost me is some elbow grease! Update: the DP02CF is home , and review will be forthcoming in a week or so ( after I thoroughly play with it !!! ) Update : Played with it for about 3 hours , ..... You WILL need a Mic preamp with it ( I guess that all portables or small studios fall into that catagorie) but other than that , I like it , a full review later ( different post )
  13. the 707 is somewhat know for issues , the R50 that was mentioned only very RARELY had issues , it was built like a tank, but it was not a NET MD if you can find an N1 in good shape even though it is older than the 707 , if it is in good shape you will see the difference. the 707 record head , an lead cable to the head is the problem , not the usb cable.

Then of course the NEED for interaction and Debate........ Rock VS Jazz ... I think...! So Listen NEWS Guy , this is the MD Forum , we wanna hear about stuff that records !!! Like this ! awww crap , hold on a customer just walk in .............. "Hey TC can you fix this " Dude , you just have a screw loose ok , no charge !

MySpace to MD , via the line out of your computer , anyone else here do that ? A lot of private artist who are not yet released or signed , and their music would not be unavailable in any other way . I usually email them , and ask for permission , and most of the time they dont mind , especially if it is for my own use .

  21. Here is the information on the G3 http://minidisc.org/part_Kenwood_DMC-G3.html Oh by the way , I have a DMC-F5R
  22. It would be better if you Dropped the files in WAV format to a DVD (Data) just as if you were backing up your drive, and mailed it to me . Torrents I dont open my computer to , If you were on a Mac , I could link you to my dot Mac private folder , and you could upload direct to that.
  23. Well , I can definately agree with you there I am getting the DP02CF , because it has optical out on the back so that I can mix directly TO my MD
  24. I am a recording engineer , but I live in Japan , so it would mean shipping for you . I work on a Macintosh , and have mastering software , plus a large collection of outboard gear . Here is an easy way to experiment for you , Download Audacity , for your OS (Windows /Mac /Linux is in the works) then install some third party plugins, there is a 31 band EQ available somewhere , then ( depending on what MD you used) either Import , or Record to Audacity ( to record directly , set the MD audio settings to Line Out , if that is available, then hook the output of the MD to the Line input of your computer) First hit play on the md , and double klk the record meter (top right of the window has a Mic icon (two sets of meters Play/Record) ) the meters should start moving if sound is coming in . Adjust the Rec Gain (slider by the Mic icon) so that the meters are just under 0bd . then rewind the MD , hit Record on Audacity and start the MD .( Audacity has a lot of settings for file quality , inputs , where to store stuff , they are all in Preferences, and for that read the Help file for Audacity and get to know the prog before you do anything.) Audacity is free , http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
