  1. Yes , it will record in MP3 VBR ( the highest quality Mp3 , as well as in WAV 16 or 24 bit . the owners manual is a free download , from the website. http://www.samsontech.com/products/related...user_manual.pdf website http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...cfm?prodID=1916 also Zooms website ( better pics and info) http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h2/index.php
  2. I am also a Musician ( just look at my name ) I use MD for lessons as well , but sad to say ( especially from me ) there is a better alternate for you. The Zoom H2 here is why . Built in Mics ( not bad actually , not great but not bad)Built in Metronome that is very usable( every musician needs this)Tuner built in that is quite accurate, I have used it a lot Records in mp3 format , so you save disc space USB , uploads directly to Mac or PC fits in your pocket,or guitar case, backpack Runs on regular batteriesIs not expensiveand you can Monitor yourself in the headphones , with the Monitor on setting , the Mics stay on all the time , so you can record a part (Rythym) and then practice the lead part while listening to the Rythym in the headphones ( you will hear both! )I have the RH1 which is the M200 , and the quality is very nice indeed , I use an Audio Technica AT-822 stereo mic , and that is basicall for premium outdoor recording or event recording . But for lessons and truly every day use , I would have suggest the H2 (which I also have ) It really is the perfect Musicians tool.
  3. I miss typed one sorry , 7025 not 7255 12AX7, 12AU7,ECC83,7025 are compatable but different characters and voltages Here is a good link http://www.torresengineering.com/groovtubec.html groove tubes
  4. yeah a 12au7 will take the harsh out of it , and different mics have different character dont forget that , the Audio Technica 2020 might be a nice cheap mic for the matching to that preamp
  5. Which model presonus? they generally have 12ax7's , but if the specs allow it a 12au7 can be used for a little less gain and a warmer sound . 7255's might also work but I need to know which model.
  6. Hey Sparky , I bought a pair of the PX100 's and with the EQ set at normal , no bass enhancement they suit me just fine, I have been using them everyday , and have become standard issue in my backpack . I will agree, that the bass is solid in the PX100's , very solid , but take out some of the eq( which will save battery life) and just bring them to natural . I bought them because of the reviews here on this board , and ,.................. I wasn't disappointed .
  7. Hey Chrisrus , you have to put your mouse in the box past the quotations when you want to type something and it show up . When you hit "Reply " a little window opens up , sometimes below the visible screen , scroll down to find it, then type in the box .
  8. Talk about seeing the light
  9. We have A4 here , no prob , and the docs open , just getting a printer that will fit my place ( small flat compartment type printer of decent quality and mac compatable ) ............ok I know I just asked the impossible.
  10. The GP's are good standby's , I have used them and sent them to people
  11. Gauranteed , there are many fakes out there , they are packaged to look exactly like the Sony , the retailers do not check that close , the packaging is identical only when you take the battery apart under the label , the chinese components become known I live in asia , and counterfieting here is outrageous , you wouldnt believe it unless I took you down the back alleys and showed you . there are several articles here on the forums about this very subject. The Real Sony's dont blow up, they just dont . they leak sometimes , corrode , but they dont blow
  12. Mac guy here , Macbook Pro core2Duo The Optical out on the Mac is continuous , that means there is no signal break for the md to recognize Sorry , Mine does the same thing , so I just add the track marks afterwards . The Edirol interface will be the same way , iTunes isnt the problem , it is a system feature , because the Whole system is going out of the interface . what you could try , is to isolate the system sounds from the interface and send ONLY itunes to it , soundflower is a mac prog for routing signals , it might help. I havent tried it though. I have an iBook G4 for my kid hidden under the bed.
  13. Chinese fake battery , it isnt a Sony , just packaged to look like one. You will have to take the case apart to get it out . And the only off brand I would suggest are GP batteries .
  14. Johnny Witherspoon A Spoonfull of Blues 12 " Vinyl

    which MD

Actually for the price and features the Tascam looks interesting , when I get a chance to hear it then I will know.
  17. Yes they do , SHibuya and Ginza and I had an appointment setup at Shibuya , but just called to confirm and get info on my Apple care program and the Assistant said"Well if you want , I can cancel the appointment and just send you the battery , to save you the trip " Wow , ...... ok , umm two trains , an afternoon worth of time , the stress of going into Tokyo ( I hate crowded places) very cool I thought , so I said "Ok that would be very helpful" , I expected a week to go by , which I wouldnt have minded at all . but BAM next day here . Exchanged the old for the new , no charge . A new Battery for a Macbook Pro 15 inch Core2Duo , is 15,800 yen in most places .
  18. Man that was fast , I called yesterday , about a battery problem for my macbook pro, the delivery guy was here this morning with the battery . Charging now . 1 day turnaround , unbelieveable!!!!!!!!!

    Discovery

The reason for having an MD in the first place , this is what they were for in the beginning
  20. you have to be carefull with those , they have slightly different pin spaces from model to model , I have a bagfull of them so I know . Different sizes for different player/recorders
  21. Actually he wont be able to answer that , the mic he got from me was custom made , and of pro quality , not a cheap mic , but I had it for awhile and wasnt using it any more There are some underground audio places in Akihabara , and some places back in the US I deal with . Fullcompass is a good source for audio gear , they are online , and have a fully browseable catalog .
  22. Well the website makes erroneous statements , MacOSX doesnt support USB Audio ( What Planet is this guy on ???????) Mac is ABOUT audio Everymajor production company uses Mac , heck my MacbookPro has OPTICAL In and Out on it , via Toslink mini connectors anyway back to the subject , They are cool small one function devices , that now exist in many forms , to sell it you wouldnt get very much for it . If someone has a Computer that doesnt have Optical out and NEEDS it ( only if they are an audio nut AND on a very old Computer ) then there would be a need to fill , and you could put a smile on their face , by just putting it in their hands .
  23. His self effacy and style of writing made that a good article , I really appreciate the one comment about "blanket being thrown over the speakers " that is a good description.
