  1. Questions Do you wish to be able to upload to the computer ?Does it need to have LP mode or is SP ok with you ?Do you wish to have HiMD capability or not ? Do you wish to use Microphones , and have Recording level control on the Fly rather than Pause and Record adjustment, unpause ?DO you want AA capacity , or Lion battery , or NMHD , ?Good set of basic questions , will narrow the field of what your looking for . also browse here http://minidisc.org/equipment_browser.html Take a little time to get some ideas , then we can get you a recorder that fits what you need! PS, ...........An R2 , still in use ........... another testament , to the Craftsmanship that went into the MD's original design !
  2. Beer , Peanuts , and Boiled eggs ,,,,,,,.............. dont wanna be ANYWHERE near you for the next 3 days !!!!!
  3. wow , seems like there were a lot more tan I knew existed !
  4. If you look at the pic (Klik it will open much larger) you will see the I use a small desktop music stand , it has increment height (Angle) adjustments on back , so I can angle it to the sun and properly track the sun for maximum exposure . Cool huh! I will post more solar projects soon as the house is done .
  5. Sorry the NH3d was gone , I checked just a couple days ago , I will have to change the pix
  6. I spent the day today , taking apart my SG-1000 Battery , removing the Internal regulator circuit , ( simple LM317T and Varistors , with a blocking diode. ) I built a circuit to allow me to charge it from my small folding solar panel . So although now I cant used the Wal wart , it will charge freely from the sun 12 volts , 7ah battery /Modified Silva Solar2 folding panel actual setup
  7. looking at your list of MD's I can see why OK Everyone , once again , Hardoff = Buy and Sell , no refurbs , only used gear ( there is some new stuff that they carry as retail stores close out inventory , they have a deal with Hardoff to distribution of "New Old Stock " But I have seen brandnew stuff in there as well. Hardoff =Used gear , Great deals .
  8. I appreciate the thought Wiz , definately understand that , but when I make optical copies of CD's it is just for me , and the stay on MD I dont need to put them in the computer , If I want it in the computer I just put the CD in the drive and copy it directly to the computer. The disc copy in Mac OS is 32 bit Floating point up to 192khz sample rate.......... ummm the RH1 doesnt go there!
  9. wow he has been holding out since 92 , then after Sony lets go he finally dives in LOL
  10. Its getting better , just feel like I have a chain around it . your package is still safe.
  11. Not really , that is Sony's way of avoiding Copyright issues , The Analouge PCM recording is just as good , if your coming off the right kind of equipment , and it transfers just fine. Just digital copy is a clear area of endangerment for them on a legal point , I dont have a problem with it . It is the sound I need not the auto Marking , when I go record a Band for a demo CD of their Live perfomance I use the RH1 and the AT-822 , do basic track marks while recording , on the 40 elk , then bring it home , import it , get a little finer in and out regions , individual files , do the mastering ,and effect processing , then order name and number the tracks , burn them to CD for the band ,........... done! The Irish band I just did a demo for was quite happy with the results , in fact they asked me to record a bunch more stuff for them .
  12. Pictures were deleted all these items gone
  13. on a Mac , when I upload from the RH1 , it automatically is converted to WAV . so I can imoprt directly to any editor that runs on Mac . Protools , Garage Band , Audacity , Logic , whatever . the program that Mac uses for MiniDisc , is called "HiMD Transfer 2.0 " My Allowable transfers are as follows: From MD to Computer PCM 16 bit 44.1 Khz , as long as it was recorded from Mic or Line and not Optical ( Optical PCM is not allowed) HI SP mode recordings from any source ( Including Optical ) Hi LP mode recordings , from any source ( Including Optical ) From Computer to MD WAV format , and MP3 of almost any bit rate direct transfer any file in another format first must be converted to WAV. all of the above are imported as .WAV format by HiMD Transfer 2.0 , with no DRM whatsoever . one of the reasons I switched to Mac ( I used to be on Windows XP ) the program for MD on MAC is very simply layed out , with no extra bells and whistles . Drag mp3 or WAV files into it to put on the MD , or Import from the MD in WAV format so you can go directly to work on the audio.
  14. yeah what you bought was probably a replacement for a mic like the AT-822 , ( I have one, love it. )
  15. sounds like its not wired properly , a true XLR to mini , will have pin 2 of the XLR going to both the Tip and Ring of the mini, and pins 1-3 will be ground . what you have is XLR to Balanced TRS mini , so left is out of phase , hard to understand why it worked in the first place ?!?!?!?
  16. wow, ............ nicely done ........ the first picture when you get to the web page , of the campfires on the hillside with the stars on the background , helps to convey the sense of emptiness of the situation quite well. Lost in SpaceTime , We live in a world where all are being displaced in some form or another now . Bad home loans from Banks and Business practices leaving thousands of Families homeless , political upheaval in every country ................ the world has become a difficult place to live. just to emphasize the callousness http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23144420
  17. Update ,........ they fixed the iTunes problem sent out an update notice , and a Securty update as well , go figure .
  18. Well , you know what they say ........" If it aint Barouque , Dont Fix it "
  19. I wouldnt say Obsolete , I use my B10 all the time for lectures and educational stuff , and it absolutely hands down beats any other option for speech level stuff, the clarity is far better than any "Voice Recorder " or MP3 recorder that I have heard . plus it plays in any MD deck I have , uses AA batts ( Removal Changeable ) unlike a lot of other units . The B100 has the advantage of Stereo mics , so you get the spacial sense of conversations , and meetings , and you carry nothing but the unit with you . Also , I can attach a NICE stereo mic to either , and they instantly become High Quality Stereo Digital Recorders with adjustable mic sensitivity on Both . Obsolete ....... ??? I dont think so .
  20. I got an R55 today ........ at Hardoff , for 3,000 yen !!!!!! YAY! Missing remote , and adapter , but I have the original of both ! By the way John You have PM , check your messages .....................
  21. LP2 is Better than iTunes , and I am ON a Mac , I hate the sound of iTunes .............................
  22. WOW , it went for 415 dollars , Unbelievable , that is more than what it was new, the B10 is 23,900 yen where I am ( I have one , very useful)
  23. Does it charge from the USB port on the computer?
