I got a Behringer 802a mixer for 39 dollars , testing it out now , and it works , no big noise problems or anything , this will give a decent small mixer for live , almost good enough for recording , but I would rather have the Mackie, or the new Alesis Firewire .

Most DVD players now have Optical out , for decoding 5.1 to an Amp that is capable of it , some use SPDIF , but for it to be MD compatable , in the DVD menu , Audio settings, select PCM stereo or DTS stereo , THX stereo , but not 5.1 anything 2.0 is ok . Standard PCM 2.0 will be the most natural , but THX or DTS 2.0 will give a Simulated surround sound , LIVE if you will .

with over 300 discs to label , ........... I hope the printers has at least a one year warranty , cause i will prolly break it in the first two months LOL

Hey Raj , Thank you so much for this post , I visited the website , dowloaded the doc file for several templates , I have NeoOffice on the Mac , and guess what , they opened perfectly , now all I have to do is go buy some paper , .....oh , hmmm and a Mac compatable printer. I think the only way to get a perfect fit would be to make a Cookie cutter the exact size and use non cut solid sticky back glossy paper , so what Raj has here , is basically as good as it Can get , In a template form. I gotta get a new printer , this is too cool.

I just removed iTunes from my Macbook pro . Reason: After doing a transfer from iTunes folder , MP3 conversion of some podcasts ( French for Beginners) and the transfering said MP3's to my HiMD while iTunes was open , all of the sudden iTunes looked a lot like the blue screen of death , all Garbled and mangled in appearance , so I quit (force Quit) then restarted iTunes , all looked normal and played normal . so I listened to jams for awhile , then i went to quit iTunes , it would quit , log out then pop right back up , it did this 30 times with a span of about 2 minutes in between quitting and it popping back up . I tried repairing permissions , still did it . I used AppDelete for Mac to can it , then moved that folder out of the trash to the desktop opened the folder and began getting rid of resource files first, then individual proccess file after that , down to the final package Itunes executable hidden in the MacOS file. I have COG for Mac as a music player , and it plays everything that iTunes will not , Shorten Flac, monkey audio, etc . I use Switch to convert stuff to MP3 , and it will convert the Podcasts to mp3 as well ( download on demand will download a file called "aauca" or similarand then it can convert the m4a files to wav or whatever you want. iTunes was the only reason I would want an iPood , but now that I have seen it as a security risk , I will not use it . for Cog , just drag files to it and hit play .

The Disc is actually in FAT format ,

actually a forensic team would first have to think that there is data instead of audio on the disc , they would put the disc in a normal md and get "Cannot read disc" that would indicate corrupted file or audio , and mean useless data. What Forensics looks for first is Hardrives , after that RAM , after that any USB devices that would obviously be data storage devices , the MD often gets overlooked because it is sitting on the Audio cabinet . There has to be someone on the team that is an audiophile to recognize the possibility , because the one thing forensics doesnt wish to do at te beginning of a case is waste time. so all obvious bases get covered first , after that fine detail sweeping . they would dust the MD Player for prints and if finding any then it would go into a bag , after that it would get further tested. if no prints or needed evidence it would be left laying there. The Dogs poop would get more attention , DNA , physical remains , drugs , whatever would be bagged and tagged. That is of course depending on the Crime scene, or investigation in progress. The most common list for a Data Recovery team , Phone records , USB sticks , Flash Drives , SD cards , XM cards , Smart Media , Hard drives , iPods , Portable Hard discs , Printer Memory , Copy Machine RAM , and rollers , and the biggest of all ..... yes #1 on the list ....... the Ubiquitus CELL Phone . The Router or modem as well because of password storage and settings stored in them , they can be decrypted and used . Digital cameras also have internal memory which is used by sneakies to store data because the data doesnt show when you have a Card in the Camera , it works from the card , remove the card and you then have direct access to the cameras internal memory . just a thought Max

exactly , it will record from the end of what is already there, if you look in the record settings menu , look for "From Here" of "From End"

MD doesnt erase via magnets , it isnt magnetic based , it is Magneto Opitical .

That function left a long time ago , now every unit ( basically all of them , there are exceptions ) The basic setup is now "Record from End" if the unit has an "End Search " buton , then record over is in it , elsewise somewhere in the record menu settings , "Record from Here" or Record From End" might be available , it is on the RH1 and others , but the Home deck might have the removed as a protectionary measure.

oops yeah forgot to mention that , just wish I knew exactly how it would interface with the Mac , especially because of the MP3's , I have 500 songs that are used for Guitar lessons all in MP3 format , all great Rock tunes , with Musically important Ideas in them , and I use them when teaching Guitar , I traded for a DH-10P just for that reason , but it would be nice to have a Backup in case the 10p gives up , plus the AA battery thing , turns me on to it , I can get a AA anywhere , and it has a DC input so no matter where I am good to go . Basic Teaching setup : Guitar (obvious) , A Portable Effect rig(Line6 Pocket Pod) that Takes a Stereo line input for the MP3,s and mixes with the Guitar , and a small Amp that has Two inputs one for me and one for the Student ( just in case they don't have an Amp ( Headphone Processor's are basically a requirement in a Japanese Apt. ) That way they can plug their rig into my amp and hear the whole deal . I just dont want an iPod . or any other MP3 player for that matter , I have too many MD's to trade off . But I guess the easy solution would be , Transfer the MP3's with the 10P or the RH1 , onto Disc , then use the disc in the Husb . Well ,........ there went 200 dollars , or whatever it is going to cost me . I dont lose by it not working with the Mac if it doesn't , I get a HiMD player that uses AA's and works with the 40ELK remote ( website for Buffalo mentions it) Thanks for sparking the thought process , I was being brain dead , now my wife can hate both of us cause I will blame it on you . !
