600 clone , if you set them side by side , the cases are identical , everything except the name on it and the color .

When you Import to a Mac it will all come in as WAV regardless of what you record in , I am on a Macbook Pro , have the RH1 and 10p anything Imported from a HiMD gets converted to WAV , so PCM will be the best quality SP will just be a Lesser Quality WAV , and you really wont ( unless your an absolute Audiophile ) know the difference .

I wonder if the Buffalo MD-HUSB will work with the Mac software , It uses BeatJam instead of Sonic for windows , says it will connect to a Mac, but How ? I might order one if I can get that info , the AA battery and internal english menu is very appealing
-
I saw an RH1 at Sofmap in the used section for 26,800yen yesterday , sitting right next to an RH10 for 16,800 yen I will wait for the PM's post a pic of them later.

You could clean the contacts a little more pressure , but the inside of the cradle or the 10p itself be a little careful about that , to clean the 10p take the battery out , use a small VERY firm hobby brush ( Model railroad store , type hobby shop will have ,them they are white, and look like the little brushes in the dental isle to get between the teeth. Again just damp not wet , scrub the contacts inside the 10p , and the cradle as well ( 3 in total , 10p inside, cradle inside, cradle underside connector.)

Help - How to get the best recording from my microphone
Strungup replied to hsl13's topic in Live Recording
Ok I saw the mic , I will look at mine again , it is the same mic , just different cable out , Do you know how to solder ? this will need a LOW temp solder and a very high quality headphone cable , what we will do is replace the cable that is in your mic , so that you dont need an adapter .It will connect directly to the MD. -
Turn it upside down (facing down ,so that the switches are also down ) and work that pin with a toothpick , to see if something is jammed up in there , there might be some tiny piece of debri blocking the contacts .
-
you bring a point about the cable , as that the USB cable for the 10p is a funky one , Take a Qtip and some alchohol (not the drinking kind get that rum outa yer hand boy) and try cleaning the metal contacts on the funky end of the cable wit a dampened Q-tip . also if you move the cradle around alot , I am wondering if one of the wires inside the cable might be opened , ( short means closed , opened means broken) ......

MTV Unplugged" Alice in Chains /Live" on pre-recorded Production MD , in my Kenwood DMC-F5R
-
Update: I have an older Kenwood DMC-F5R , MD recorder , DC 5 Volts input , and it doesnt like less, I can run it off of the Sony 4.5 volt , but it wont charge as well . The kenwood 5 volt supply charges it nicely , and I know how it acts when its is charging , if it sees to low a voltage it just wont charge. Believe me I have tried all kinds of stuff. I can run it from a USB to DC connector , but I have to be sure it is 5 volts . So anyway direct to the point , The Battery pack is now down to the last LED marker indicating almost empty , and the Charge indicator on the Kenwood is still going , what that tells me is that it is a REGULATED STABLE 5 volts out even when the internal voltage drops , . I mean I have the Litho almost drained , and it is stable at 5 volts . and will stay there untill it is empty . That is very very likable.

Hey "Justlistening" Try this , klik this link and read my most about this setup . At this very moment I have a Sharp MD-SS321 player connected to this battery pack , and it works beautifully , it comes with a cable to go from USB to DC and a Power supply for the wall that has USB out . this will give you portable recharging as well as a Wall wart for the Sharp , two birds one stone ( it is a little expensive , but a big problem solver) http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?s=&am...st&p=130702

Ok today I bought a Lithium Polymer batt pack , ( I had a bunch of unused points on my Yodobashi Card) the " Powerbank Slim " model FPS440 Specs : Internal 3.7 volts 4,400 ma ... 4.4 amp hours folks. USB out 5 volts 1 amp ( I can confirm it , a lot of batt packs state that but are not anywhere near 5 volts , iPod packs are really bad about that) On/Off switch Input DC jack 5 volts A wall wart , that is World Voltage 100- 240 Volts 50/60hz here is a link , http://store.shopping.yahoo.co.jp/komamono/fps440u.html I have connected it to the RH1 , with a standard USB cable , and the RH1 lit right up , absolutely no problem .

I have a Lith Ion batt pack , from Filco /Diatec 4.4 amp hours 3.7 volts , with a USB out , it charges from 5 Volts DC , I just tried to charge it from my Macbook Pro, right USB and Left did the same thing , a Pop Up warning window comes up , and says " The device connected is drawing too much power and the USB port will be deactivated" That should answer everyone here , Ivan is giving fair warning and is obviously correct , I just wanted to test it out . Certain devices can indeed charge from USB as long as the power requirement is within base values , but on a computer with an OS that doesnt give a warning like OSX will , you stand to do damage if you arent completely sure of the needs of what you have connected.

That IS weird, 80 works, 1gb doesnt ,..........?????

Help - How to get the best recording from my microphone
Strungup replied to hsl13's topic in Live Recording
Does the Cable for the 959C come off? if it does , post a pic , maybe I can make a rewire chart for you so it connects directly to the MD http://sp.sony-europe.com/media/8/3575 this is the same mic from the pic that I have but mine says 959a , this site calls it the 959c , but doesnt show XLR outs...... -

Well the Micro Track 2 has Implementations that I had suggested to M-Audio ( A full 30 page PDF presentation ,audio samples , graphics, specs , engineering design etc.) I owned the Previous model , and found it wanting , they fixed most of it for this model , still dont like the internal Battery thing ( How dumb can they be ) anyway ,.... The new one has advantages for line level recording that MD wont have , ( Limiter , Multiple settings , various other likables like HUGE file size ) PCM on HiMD is about 1 1/2 hours , HiSP and HiLP are not PCM , they are lesser bitrates of ATRAC compression , but can be converted to WAV . If your coming off the board Balanced ( XLR outs ) then the MICRO is what you want , it has TRS ins , and you just make two cables XLR -> TRS or by pre-made , The Limiter is before the converter I believe if they actually listened to me and will give you much better definition in the long run . For portable recording though, MD still rules . battery issues aside , the Mic pre in the Sony MD's is hot , and Clean , learn to use them properly and you really cant get better , ( AT-822 connected to mine)

My MZ-R70 lasted 6 years ......... hmm not worth anything .....? or was that sarcasm , I havent had enough coffee this morning and MD did have a serious enough effect on the portable world, a lot of Review sites and online stores , electronic shops etc, when you look closely at the link or button to get to portable audio you will see an icon , that looks like an MD example CNET Portable audio/MP3 button

There is an RH10 at Hardoff for 10,200 yen , .... that is about 100 dollars , Box and all goodies .

Well , if you cant believe it , then you just dont understand the economics . The MD recorders were introduced at a time when Sony was trying to be "Cool" , everything was about experimentation ( Hey what if we could do THIS!!) and it wasnt so much about the money , Sony had other markets to sustain them , so the little Audiophile niche was more of just having fun with it . Enter MP3 and the internet , " Woo Hooo !!! we can SHARE music now . ........... Hey no biggie Mp3 sounds like crap , so no big threat >"" MD gets a little wider distrobution , then , Whoa MP3 PLAYERS !!!! now you can CARRY the crap around with you . Sony doesnt bite ,.... Net MD STILL a long way off . Then comes the Ubiquitus Ipod ......... ( we can hear the collective groan from the entire MDCF ) , Sony STILL doesnt truely bite ( geez a little slow eh! ) Net MD and Sonic Stage , Net MD , hmmm ok cool ,............... Sonic Stage ,.... God the Bugs and gliches , ...........Enter Itunes , with a STORE where you can BUY the Crap . If we can sell Crap , and people will BUY it , then WE had better not let them make GOOD copies of ANYTHING , or WE will LOSE MONEY . Enter" DRM " Digital Rights Management , and the end of any reason to make a "Matchbox " that will record in Wav . if you want a device that records in any quality , at THIS particular time and space , then you have to pay for it . wait a couple more years there will be a DIY kit on the shelf at your hobby shop for 20 dollars .
