dex Otaku
Thunderbird .. and when forced to, Outlook Express, which isn't that much of a security risk as long as the user has more than a pea for a brain.I am big on clients. I loathe webmail, and only use it when forced to.

KrazyIvan
Well, I guess it is not the PDA but the software I use to sync with. Does anyone know of Palm compatible synching software that works with Thunderbird?

Bananatree
I use Mail 2.0 for one account and Thunderbird for others, no reason I use both, but I came out of Win98 using Thunderbird, and didn't migrate when I switched to Apple, so now I am slowly changing. In my case Hotsync. My version only supports email synchronization with Outlook. I like to leave a copy on my machine for backup purposes until not needed. The Low Volta
I use Mail 2.0 for one account and Thunderbird for others, no reason I use both, but I came out of Win98 using Thunderbird, and didn't migrate when I switched to Apple, so now I am slowly changing.I was a PC-using-thunderbird adept... but then I got my 12" powerbook and as I installed everything I kinda automatically switched to mail 2.0.7butI'm quite disappointed... I miss the integrated RSS reader, the labels for messages, the excellent spam-filter, the fact that it signals for new messages even when those messages are immediately directed to a local folder...so with those things combined... I guess I'm migrating to thunderbird again in a few days (I'll still give mail a go this week... but I can't really see things getting much better honestly)butall this being thorn between two options could actually be futile in a week or so as the department we're working together with is switching to Micro$oft exchange server and they kinda expect us (even though we're all on mac) to follow... this would mean I'll have to use 'Entourage'. I'm sorry, I have nothing against PC, but I won't use Micro$oft stuff if here is a good alternative and I do have a thing against using Micro$oft stuff on a MAC!! That thing (as outlook) is bloated on PC already... I dread to see what they have done to it on a mac...excuse me while I go and enjoy my last moments of freedom
Sparky191
I would assume most windows users would use outlook because it was already in the system after installation! Its not. Outlook Express is installed but not Outlook. Thats part of Office or as a standalone application.I use web clients a lot when I'm away from my main PC. I use outlook otherwise mainly to archive/backup mails in PST files. Edited March 16, 2006 by Sparky191

mercury_in_flames
Thers no other way!yep, there is no way I'd ever pay hotmail for a bigger in box lol yeeep I've had my hotmail accounts for over a year and they work fine with outlook express All you do is open outlook express, go file, new account, and just make ur account by giving outlook express your password, ur email address and thats it. I prefer it to going on the internet to check my email because I dont have to enter passwords, or fiddle with any web browser. I just click 'switch identity' and im on my other account. Obviously for custom spam filters and the rest I have to edit that stuff using the web version, but my accounts are ok atm.
pauljones52
I tried that but i get this error message:Task 'Hotmail: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error (0x800CCCF6) : 'The server responded 'Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. mercury_in_flames
I have my hotmail spam filter set to exclusive, so that anyone not on my address book or safe list, gets sent to the bulk mail box. I never give my address to any untrustworthy sites. But with my yahoo address thats another story. That thing has got the weakest spam filter I've ever come across. Anything with a subject that looks like this: £$£$%^*&*(*%^£" comes through and theres nothing you can do about it because the address gets changed every single time,. lol. As far as space goes, yahoo wins hands down, it has something like a gig of space, and a 10 mb attatchment limit, unlike hotmails 1 mb i believe. I guess if you keep your email address to yourself and out of dodgy sites then you should be safe, but once those pesky spammers have your address, you can kiss a spam free in box goodbye. Sparky191
If you have been using your hotmail account with OE for a few years as I have, you don't have to pay for the support. Its seems to be completely random. I had a few hotmail (many years old) accounts that were working with OE and just suddenly stopped working one day. Hotmail gets a lot of spam though. I switched to Gmail for my web email, as its just a much better interface.
