THIS SUCKS
the tab should be in the position slid open so you cant see the part of the disk under it. i think the write protect switch is stuck inside the unit. you could try to bank lightly on the unit to see if you can get it unstuck. there is also a chance the disk is bad do you have another one you can try? bobzilli
I get the same message when I try to erase discs on the RH1, I put them in my AIwa MD deck and and it erases fine. I don't know why, wish I did
Syrius
The disc could be bad as well. Especially if it's one of the first-gen blanks.
jrnmcm
I have a sony MX-NH600D (silver) and a Hi-MD 1 gb and sonicstage 4.3. Everytime i tryto put music on it says protected. I tried formating it again but it keeps saying its protected or something. Please help I don't want this broken. (its not mine)Hi!I have the same model as you, and today, a year and a half after you, i was faced with the same problem. I googled around and I saw a german forum where they talked about the service manual of this model, especially about a connector that serves to detect if the disc is write protected or not. Anyway, I dismantled a little bit my unit, just to observe the appearance of that switch and it happened to be a double switch, that is, it has a couple of mechanical pins that must be accionated when the disc is inserted. One of the pins moves because of the white stripe on the disc that is used to write protect it and the other moves only if the whole placed under the white stripe is covered. So, the solution is this: use a adhesive stripe to cover the round hole placed on the back of the disc, just beside the whole that gets white when the disc is not write protected.Insert the disc and you will be able to edit your disc.Hope it helps
Avrin
This problem has already been discussed to death:http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=20475 (see Post #15)http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=17690
Broadkazter
I have a similar issue with a MZ-NE410, is there any method to erase a write protected disc, I don't care about the music in it, everytime I try to erase, or transfer anything I get the same error, the device/media is write protected error 0000664f, isn't there any app that could help me with this? Because sonicstage 4.3 just can't
BearBoy
I don't suppose you have access to an older MD deck do you? I use my MDS-JE500 to wipe discs that have been write protected via SonicStage.
sfbp
The best way to blank a disk completely is to acquire a portable with a busted OW head, so that at the first attempt to write the disk it is completely "empty". Just be careful that said unit is kept in a locked cupboard so nobody even your can take out and try to use by accident. First time you press Track Mark..... booooom! Broadkazter
I wish I had one of those at hand but, no I don't :,( 9 hours ago, BearBoy said: I don't suppose you have access to an older MD deck do you? Because I don't have a faulty unit at hand neither This is so sad and frustrating... 9 hours ago, sfbp said: The best way to blank a disk completely is to acquire a portable with a busted OW head, so that at the first attempt to write the disk it is completely "empty". Broadkazter
So far I've tried SonicStage 3.4, SonicStage 4.3, Web Minidisc, Platinun MD and QHiMDTransfer with no positive results, I'm going to check if there's more open source solutions, wish me luck! 18 hours ago, BearBoy said: I've not tried it but maybe Web MiniDisc or Platinum MD might be able to do it?
