MZ-RH1 advice needed - before I go crazy!
sfbp replied to jim.hoggarth's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
The worst thing I found lately to interfere with USB is Nero BackitUp (a driver they install) but if fresh install, probably that ain't the culprit..... Had you thought about this: with a fresh install of Windows, perhaps there is some device with unsatisfied interrupts? My top candidate is always the sound card. I can remember many times I installed Windows, and sound drivers, and it took about 3 reboots before sound started to function. -

Hi Jim 1. is the "disc mode" set to MD or HiMD? Makes a difference 2. have you deinstalled all Mass storage drivers that might be relevant 3. have you done the clean up to get rid of all other NetMD drivers? Once you have done 3 you can use my version of the RH1 driver (netmd052.sys) install for ALL NetMD drivers. This should clean up the RH1's behaviour. I am guessing you have a bunch of v old drivers installed. Stephen -
FINALLY (I don't know how I missed this before) https://www.services...-424323712.aspx Looks like the relevant part number is 424323712 Does anyone know how to order this? (apart from the fact that it's out of stock, you have to be signed up as a Sony Professional) Either that, or someone out there is willing to find their disk...... Stephen Update: I managed to order from http://www.ued.net/ued/viewItemAction.do?itemCode=SNY424323712 by giving them a US address. We will see what happens........

Was a question for OP. If screen is too faint you definitely need power adjust (not LP, just the main power on the unit). Easy to do.
-
Because that reduces the data to pure 16 bits, inferior to Atrac's 24

Is the Gordon in ur profile the "big engine"? heheh Quick question: is the screen perfectly readable? Or is it rather faint, bordering on invisible?

Bump.... I am still combing the highways and byways, without success, for MCrew 2.51 (I think) specially designed for this machine.

I meant that "too low and you can't read HiMD" affects 1GB disks only. The service manual outlines how to adjust it. You will probably need a Laser Power Meter, that costs more than the value of your unit, is the only problem. Sony no longer services MD's. Some they will replace, but most are not considered serviceable or replaceable. I have had reasonable success with adjusting them myself but I don't offer a paid service (yet). Jim Hoggarth in UK is getting close to having a paid service (he generally fixes MD's for a fee, but just doesn't have a lot of call for adjusting HiMD, up to the present time).

Laser Power adjust. No doubt at all. The settings for MD and HiMD veer off in opposite directions, and the alignment procedure puts the LP exactly in the middle of the two. Too high and you can't read MD, too low and you can't read HiMD (mind you this only really affects 1GB HiMD).

IMO the listing makes no sense. We have no picture of the 300g head (seems way too much, but this is the amount they are stating).

I just finally got loaded a whole bunch of manuals. Please report duplicates by PM to me. Thanks

There was a fair amount of MD action in State of Play, I think
