  1. It is very easy to do, especially if you have experience with Sony's user interface icons. Ishiyoshi has been kind enough to leave instructions. Please refer to the below link: http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3513# See how easy it is .
  2. I was able to test the noise cancellation in the store before purchasing the a NW-S700 series Walkman. My first impression using a special test centre was that it seemed not to really do anything. This is a special setup, created by Sony, allowed the user to test the NW-S700 in a special case, by pressing two buttons. However, I will assure you that the noise cancellation do indeed work. The first time I used it during my daily commute, I did not think that the noise cancellation made a difference. That was until I turned off the noise cancellation feature, and noticed it worked exceptionally. There are sounds that can not be canceled because they are random. The noise cancellation function will slightly reduces the sound of a person's voice, but will greatly reduce the sound of a crowd. The microphones on the headphones will pick any sound. Wind blowing on the headphones will make things noisier. Any loud sounds close to the microphone will make it seem that there is more noise, because the microphones are designed to pickup noises faraway. This can be adjusted in the setup menu. The design of the headphones and the noise cancellation allow you to enjoy your music at lower volumes, and less outside noise. Those that have a NW-S700 series Walkman, will attest that the feature does indeed work.
  3. The silver model is exclusive to SonyStyle Japan, and the Violet model to Japan. You can get the violet model from an Japanese based seller on sites such as EBay or in Japan. No Japanese eTrailer is allowed to sell any model destined for the Japan outside of Japan. eBay is the only place to get colours not available in your market.
  4. I have to wonder who else are having these kind of problems. I suspect that it is in the minority, but one user having this problem is one to many. I have found more reviews for the NW-A805B. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-NWA805B-CE7-2...2844&sr=1-1 I am however encountering interesting behaviours with SonicStage, and trying to determine why. User error perhaps. Of course the y will be included in my review.
  5. Drum roll please. Did you read the Rules for support-related topics in this forum found at the following link: http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?act=SR&f=13 We need more information that is not including in your original post, such as operation system, etc...
  6. It is apparent that this person does not know about ATRAClife, since we would have helped. This obviously points to user error. There are obvious things that SonicStage does, but there are instructions on how to install the software. It is taking time to write a SonicStage review . Well I better make it an informative review . Most disheartening thing about the review is 8 out 12 found the review helpful.
  7. Hello Falling Animals, SonicStage and the NW-S706 support ID3v2 tags. The Image must be embedded into the song to be displayed on NW-S706 or any other Sony player that supports album art (cover art, album cover). You add the album art through the properties menu or by dragging-and-dropping the image on the track. Having the JPG, PNG or GIF file in a directory do not add the album art when the track is transfered to the ATRAC media device. Please refer to the link below for instructions. http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?...amp;#entry22055 *An Album can have a different cover art to that of each individual tracks.
  8. ON HOLD is an interesting name for the function. With the ON HOLD Display function set to Yes and the HOLD slider is up, the screen stays on while a video files is being played. HOLD will be superimposed for a few seconds after the HOLD slider is placed in the up position. With the ON HOLD Display function set to No and the HOLD slider is up, the screen stays off while a video files is being played. The screen will go blank and stay blank when the HOLD slider is placed in the up position. When any key is press the video is displayed the message HOLD superimposed over it, no matter the setting of the ON HOLD Display. Then it will return to its original state as described above. The ON HOLD Display function, in the VIDEO SETTINGS, allows the video to be displayed when any off NW-A800 series players are placed in the hold status.
  9. Hello Pander, I have some questions. Have you tested the players outside of the case? Is the HOLD switch slide up? Is there a message On hold ... Cancel HOLD function to deactivate or HOLD when you press any button? You may have to press the reset button on the right side of the players.
  10. I am not familiar with audio books. Is it correct to suspect that audiobooks are generally one long continuous file, or segments over 5 minutes? With the NW-A800 series it is possible to search for and play one album only. So if the files are small enough then, it could be manageable. Unfortunately, the NW-A808 is designed more for music playback.
  11. Hello Weaves, I do not have the NW-E507, but NW-E403. The sound quality of both the NW-S706 and NW-A808 are superior to that of the NW-E403. The sound is noticeably different (at 96k). I suspect that the sound difference greater at 256k, however I will test this for you.
  12. Hello Jroeben, Welcome to ATRACLife. From the features that you have described that the Iaudio D2 has, I can tell you that the NW-A808 (specifically NW-A800 series) has is different. The NW-A800 series is design as a music player When the NW-A808 is turn on it returns the last content that as being accessed before it was turned off. The NW-A808 will resume from that point. No matter the previous content, the NW-A808 can resume from the point that the last song was paused. The NW-A808 does not support resumption of play from multiple tracks. The function of bookmarks on the NW-A808 is for creating playlists. With video files, however, they will start from where they were stopped no matter how many videos you might have played. This is automatic on the NW-A800 series, but not the feature you have described. The NW-A800 does have resumption of the last song played, when turned off, or video content played. Resumption of a previous track played is not possible. If you have any further questions please ask.
  13. Hello 456of789, It should appear as FAT32 when looking at the properties through Windows XP. I hope this helps.
  14. Hello Zephir, Which version of SonicStage is installed on the Vista computer? Was Vista factory installed or an upgrade? What device are you attempting to connect to Vista? I am not aware of a NW-E75. The drivers for NW-A808 should be included with SonicStage CP 4.3. Music files can be dragged-and-dropped into the NW-A808, but will not play. SonicStage must be used to transfer music files to NW-A808. Using Windows XP all devices Devices are automatically recognized as WALKMAN. This should occur with Vista also.
  15. Hello Zephir, 1) The current version of SonicStage is compatible with Windows Vista, contrary to what you might have heard. The current version is 4.3. SonicStage is designed to manage your music library. SonicStage transcodes only to ATRAC, but it supports WMA, MP3 and other audio formats. Audio files can be drag and drop to add them to SonicStage's library. SonicStage does not store your music files, but refers to the location that the files are on your computer. You can download the current version of SonicStage. 2) The NW-A808 has 4 Present and 2 custom equalizes, which include Clear Bass. There are other sound enhancement funtions, such as DSEE and Clear Stereo. I am unaware of the sound quality of the NW-A800 series compared to Cowan D2, but other can comment on that. 3) You veiw video by going to the Video Library. Videos can be previewed through Quick Time. If the video files are in AVC (H.264/AVC) do not need to go through image converter, but the files must be correctly named. 4) SonicStage supports drag-and-drop for adding album art to tracks or albums. SonicStage relies on the ID3v2 information for album art, and this information can be updated using SonicStage. The NW-A808 can not sync with Windows Media Player, but it does support WMA files.

    Hissing Sound

Hello skunkbro, May I suspect that you have just recently noticed this hissing. What type of headphones are you using? What tracks do you hear the hissing on? Are these copies from CD, etc?
  17. ANGRYBADGER, I am in shock. You have the Aiwa HS-JX707. Aiwa made high quality products, before Sony bought them. My is works erratic, but it is my favorite audio model of all times. Thank for man.
  18. Zizone, I suspect that the mention of WAV is just a typo. I have been able to successfully import WAV files into SonicStage as PCM format, or to be precise PCM(WAV). Of course this will have to be transcoded if the format is not supported by the ATRAC player.
  19. STAN☆STAN, Nice pictures. I have good some great surprises listening to the NW-A808 (relating to sound quality). I have been was looking for new headphones, but it has been difficult. The supplied headphones seem to be good enough for my ears. STAN☆STAN have you been able to test the EX90 with the NW-A808? If yes, how do you think the sound quality is compared to the supplied ones?
  20. I have always preferred the sound quality of Sony Walkmans. The reason that I purchase them is not for sound quality, but my experiences have suggested that it will be good enough. I know that sound quality can be improved by purchasing better headphones, which I usually have done in the past. When I found the MDR-EX71SL, I felt that it was the best for my uses. I know that there are headphone with better quality, but just could not justify spending the extra money for them. Now, I just don't like the MDR-EX71SL after purchasing the NW-S706. lyris your experience does not surprise me. Apple's dominance in the market has created problems. I remember that Sony came out with a player that 100 hours of playback life, and the Apple fans complained about the memory size. I always make a decision based on compromises. I know that I am giving something up to gain something. That is life. I have considered in the past to purchase an iPod, but have considered against it. More because there are other players that do things better that the iPod and visa-versa. Also, it is a consumer product. So many people purchase it, than Apple is not forced to make improvements on it. Thank you lyris, BIGHMW, GQ Smooth and others for sharing your experiences.
  21. doclloyd, As what AntiPod has said, Sony has not released an arm band for the NW-A800. I do not believe that they will. However, it may be possible to use an armband designed for another player. The controls for the NW-A800 are quite integrated which will require the occasionally removal it from the arm band. Being able to create playlists on the NW-A800 resolves this quite nice. STAN☆STAN, I would have to agree with you on the sound quality of the NW-A800. However, have a built in noise cancellation has a significant advantage for those commutes.
  22. Welcome aboard. Yes, transcoding is long, it is fine if you prefer that ATRAC. From the main menu change the setting as follows. Tools --> Options This opens the Options dialogue box. Under Category select Transfer. Under Device/Media select ATRAC Media Device. Click on Transfer Settings. Set Transfer mode to Standard Transfer Mode. the OK to save the settings. When SonicStage 4.3 install it seems to set the transfer mode to Specified bit rate transfer mode. SonicStage will import in various audio formats, but only transcode to ATRAC.
  23. Questions: Were you given a language option when you installed SonicStage 4.3? Was the original language on the Vista system German or English? SonicStage should give you a language option when you first install it. You may attempt to download the German version of SonicStage and see if this installs. http://www.sonydigital-link.com/hotnews/vi...p?l=en&f=nw
  24. The has been no announcement about this product by Sony Electronics America. So, it seems that Americans may have to wait or drive to Canada.
  25. The pictures are excellent quality. You can see the engraves for the 5-way, option, and back buttons. We would like to see the right side. Nice case. It is very stylish. What I have noticed is the flap acts like the hold button when closed. The flap secured by a magnet built into the case. This is the case that I purchased with my violet NW-800, however mine is black. When the unit is in the case you can only see the screen. GQ Smooth, I would like to hear more of your opinion. Quality, etc...
