mercury_in_flames replied to MDX-400's question in Audio
the rm-mc40elk shows the titles and u can play, stop, altho not sure about next/previous track option. -
cant u just go the menu (with 'unit' mode on): album tracks artist go into 'tracks', scroll till u get to the first track on the hd3 and click play? wont that play all? or is that only on the hd5?

nice 'sweet and hilarious' err rite.... i know funny jokes but if this is a post that frowns upon rude jokes count me out. well heres a joke i 'borrowed' from the headfi joke thread, loved it : Olaf and Sven were fishing one day when Sven pulled out a cigar. Finding he had no matches, he asked Olaf for a light. "Ya, shure, I tink I haff a lighter," he replied. Then reaching into his tackle box, he pulled out a Bic lighter 10 inches long. "Yiminy Cricket!" exclaimed Sven, taking the huge Bic lighter in his hands. "Vhere did yew git dat monster??" "Vell," replied Olaf, "I got it from me Genie." "You haff a genie in yor tackle box?" Sven asked. "Ya, shure. It's right here in my tackle box," says Olaf. "Could I see him?" So Olaf opens his tackle box and sure eough, out pops the genie. Addressing the genie, Sven says, "Hey dere! I'm a good friend of your master. Vill you grant me vun vish?" "Yes, I will," says the genie. So Sven asks the genie for a million bucks. The genie disappears back into the tackle box leaving Sven sitting there, waiting for his million bucks.. Shortly, the sky darkens and is filled with the sound of a million ducks...flying overhead. Over the roar of the million ducks Sven yells at Olaf. "Yumpin' Yimmny I asked for a million bucks, not a million ducks!" Olaf answers, "Ya, I forgot to tell yew that da genie is hard of hearing. Do yew really tink I asked for a 10 inch bic?"

I'm in the uk, you really should just buy off the internet, I bought my sony nw-hd5 off www.amazon.co.uk. I think i have seen the model you're looking for at www.dabs.co.uk. If it arrives and you dont like the colour, you can normally return it within 30 days, if it hasnt been used. To give you an idea of the price differences, buying the hd5 from a sony shop was 200 pounds, whereas on amazon it was 175. If you arent afraid off buying off the net, go to shop genie .co.uk and search for the model you want, it then comes up with the etailers that sell it and their prices.

the black buttons dont crack and if they do, you cant see it unless you are looking with a huge magnifying glass under a strong light.
-
I find it doesnt work as well if you use capitals. Try sticking to one word, fiddling with the show results as posts/threads etc.
-
didnt know you had the 30 gig version man, would be nice to see the odd photo if you could. Just to see the difference in the buttons.

Well, where to start I got a sony hd5 specifically so that i could call the competition Ipoo, Iposer, Isuck, Isheep (j/k) The truth is that i do like the sony sound. Ive heard an ipod mini and i just asked, wheres the bass and e.q? The click wheel, and all the extra 3rd party gadgets out there are pretty cool, but other than that I am happy with my hd5. It's been said already probably, but for me, its the (poor) battery life, scratchability-even from plastic jelly cases, internal battery, 'poser' appeal in the sense that theres a devide between ipod and non ipod owners. Heck, even I say noooo another ipod, haha. And just to repeat myself, I love my hd5 because: -It doesnt scratch unless you take something sharp like a pin or something abbrasive to it -has a good battery life (stated 40 hours so about 25 hours or so) -has the rm-mc40elk remote so that i can keep my hd5 in my pocket -uses the same bit rate as my net minidisc so i only have to rip one file for both md and hd5 -has a removeable battery (so no sending it off, I can just buy a battery right now for example-before-my battery dies out)

lol u shud see the prices in greece im sure its worse.

hmm Ive heard of Bulldog broadband offering up to 8 meg but you would have to see if they could provide it where you are. try searching bulldog broadband on the net and there should be a thing on their site that says if they can provide the service where you are.
-
yes, the a1000 shows up as a mass storage device.
-
meh, those features are just gimmicks really i would've thought. I have all of that with norton pretty much, except the address's and home page which i dont need. That may be a really good price, but if you're a home user, paying sky tv, as well as broadband, it adds up. do u want the extra speed for work bazzz or other stuff ?
-
I pay 24 pounds a month or around 57 u.s dollars a month. I have a 10 gig download limit and my internet is allowed to be in use 15 hours a day. I dont download that much and am not on line 24 hours a day so it suits me.
-
Well at the moment in the uk, you can get up to 8meg broadband. I have 2mb. Just wanted to see what you all have. I wonder if there will come a time when we can actually use the full capacity of our speeds? I mean with mine i can download at 200kb/s but most sites dont offer that download speed anyway.

thing is I might want to add another 1 gig ram later on
-
Well I want to put a 1 gig ram into my lap top. I would rather go for Kingston instead of other brands, but need some advice. Whats the difference between buffered and unbuffered ram? Ive got the link which says which RAM will go for my laptop but there are 2 256 mb cards and 2 1 gig cards. http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurat...&submit1=Search Whats the difference between the 333mhz and 256mhz ram? They are both the same price. I've checked inside my laptop and it has two 256mb, 333 mhz cards.

http://www.avforums.com/forums/archive/ind...p/t-241411.html they dont say anything there as to what the exact problem could be, I would try updating firmware, initializing the hd3, other than that i dunno.

is it an issue with flash or just sonys flash mp3 players? hard disk players dont have such problems.
-
i think you can use nero sound trax to do it.

Did UK Beta Test 'Connect Player'? | Reflections
mercury_in_flames replied to Christopher's topic in Software
I read a few issues with the connect player, but am wondering whether the issues were flukes or not??? Should i tell my sister not to get one of these because of connect player?? Sonic Stage 3.3 works flawlessly on our comp. -
Im not really fussed lol. I never really use the repeat album or not function. If I want to change the album i do it, and if it keeps playing and i cant be bothered to change it, so be it haha.

What is Sony thinking with the changing designs?
mercury_in_flames replied to lamewing's question in Audio
I suppose after being used to having md in my pocket all the time, and now my hd5 in the pocket all the time, it would just seem awkward for me. -

I tried using it with my rm-mc4elk at the sony store and it didnt work. The display came on, but all you could do is next track. meh. Im not going to bother with a sony mp3 player of 20 gb if it doesnt even support the 40elk. Its like having a himd player that plays 350 tracks and having to take it out your pocket each time you select a folder. haha yeah thats exactly why I stay away from the sucker, apart from a load of other reasons, but yeh. I am not bashing the new series here, and if you want it you will get it regardless of what I say, Im just stating my peeves.
