I think irrespecitve of the region code held in the MD unit itself the ability to display Kanji on the RH1, is determined solely by the remote. The unit itself can't display Kanji and the fact that the RM-MC35ELK can is based on the higher resolution screen on the remote. (It has more pixels than the 38EL allowing it to display double-byte characters).

Just right-click on an album in Sonic Stage before you transfer, go into the Properties dialogue box and click on the "Remove" button. Simple as that

What you may want to do is either use the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon to stop the device before unplugging it from the USB port or pressing the stop button on the MD unit when connected to change the display from "PC-MD" to "Eject OK" before removing the disc. *Moved to Software Discussion
