  1. You may want to drop mail to Kohn at the T-Station, see if he can special order it for you..
  2. With NetMD it's always pseudo SP. What he means is you go into the menu to get to manual recording, once there, you are free to change the levels on the fly without pausing.
  3. He's had a problem with someone paying with 'bad' money, and paypal may be good for customers, but the sellers are treated as fraudulent, so his account has been restricted. Go to that site and read about it. It's sad. Poor Francis..
  4. Oh - it's no problem. Apparently LAME is the best encoder out there, so even if I can't hear the differences, I just like to know i'm using the best
  5. Yeah, that's the noise of the motor and optical block saying 'huh? where is that disc? Oh, there isn't one..'. Perfectly normal yes, you are fussing over nothing You want loud? MZ-R37. BZZZZZZ SCREECH. R900? Long, long bbbbbzzzzZZZZZzzzzz sound.. heh. Sharps are known for being quiet and getting the job done. Good unit you have there
  6. I use winLAME, with alt preset standard.

Yeah, NetMD uses MDLP which MD's from Sony's R90 and older don't have.
  8. I think he meant N707.. But it doesn't have an optical out edit: Mistaken! There IS an N710, it's like the NF810, but no radio. Interesting. No optical out though.
  9. www.t-station.net has reviews on them, they are reliable, just don't pay via paypal at the moment..

yes. You can't erase tracks on the DR7 that were recorded with NetMD though (the Japanese section tells you..)
  11. With my DR7, I get a 'bZZzzz' when changing tracks, a 'clunk' when going into edit mode, and a very soft scraping sound (the disc spinning noise, not the motor noise) when seeking
  12. I seem to recall some recorders not wanting to leave service mode even if you DO remove the power source. In which case it's doomed.. I think that's most likely to be recorders with internal batteries though.

    Type-S/New Sony's!

Dude, you think you're being overcharged? I'd LOVE to have american prices...

    sony mzr70 opinions

I think it's an 'okay' unit, as it's old, not MDLP compatible, doesn't have a line out, and has a giant battery bump. If you don't need any of the above and don't mind the battery bump then second hand for maybe... 50-70 US dollars... that would be a good deal. Otherwise, you could consider these models: Sharp MD-MT190 Sony MZ-N707 Sony MZ-N505
  15. NetMD is for .mp3, .wma, or .wav transfer at high speed. Yes, computer based. If you don't care for recording from a computer faster than real time with LP2 quality max (it's not REALLY bad, but not the best), then you don't need NetMD.
  16. It's better than all of those, except it doesn't have netmd.

    Type-S/New Sony's!

Easy. Doesn't use Type-R in NetMD transfers. That's completely true. It does however use ATRAC3 for NetMD (different to ATRAC1 Type R)
  18. I don't, but I have used an N707, wasn't particularly impressed with the control button (kept hitting the wrong thing) , and general size.. (it's pretty fat, coming from an R37 owner..)
  19. Japan, yup, it exists. In fact me friend just got back from japan so i'll be getting mine in a few days, joy for me. You can order it from a few places, some of which (in no order) www.hyperjack.net (via t-station.net), www.japan-direct.com, www.minidisc.hk.st may have some, and www.minidisco.com sells 'em too.
  20. Confirmed through people who own digital amp sonys and the DS8, who spend their time tweaking the EQ of the Sony to make it sound like the sharp , and another person who had a DS8, gave it away, and bought a DR7, which sounded better than the DS8. I never found out whether the DR7 sounds better than the MT831 though.. No fear Sony Bigot! I'd never buy a sharp for one reason (assuming I don't have a deck): NO TITLING IN PLAYBACK MODE. WTF?! DUH! But never fear, I still like sony, my home deck has 28mW x2 @ 32 ohms for that nice, rich sound. Unlike the uhh.. somewhat weedy R37 I own. I didn't think it was that bad until I switched to the PC1. Also, the Sharps are apparently (note that word) more detailed than the Sonys. Will see if I can notice (probably not) between my PC1 @ DR7, and if I haven't sold my R37 by then, that too
  21. Yeah, I mean it's on the home decks, surely it wouldn't be too hard to shift it onto a portable, all they're doing now is shrinking 'em so they might as well.
  22. when it is complete, fixed, PLEASE backup the disc.. It'll save you grief!
  23. SP on netMD is LP2 sampled to 292K for compatibility with older units. And I still think you should get the MR220.
  24. If you listen to 128k mp3, then LP2 is better.
