  1. see if converting the files from mp3 -> wav and transfering over to MD again will work...as sometimes this fixes the problem of not having audio after transfering...also have u tried recording in real-time the old school way with cables???
  2. unfortunately u can't...the deck is too old to have NetMD capabilities and there isn't much else u can do about it...it can still record from the computer but u'r limited 2 real-time recordings
  3. looks like another nice program...i'll go and test it out when i have the tie to...
  4. that unit basically just creates an easier connection to the PC for users without the luxury of having an optical output from their s/c...that and it also has ports for u/l to the PC via analogue cables...it's just a device that makes things easier to d/l and u/l to the PC without having that many cables lying around...
  5. don't think it can u/l music from MD -> PC faster than real time...it still has to be done by analogue cables as NetMD wasn't really designed for fast u/ls through USB...
  6. i own an N10 which is basically the same as the N910 and i've had experience with Sharp units...i think that the Sharp unit is slightly better for ur needs as u want to make live recordings and Sharp are reknown for their live recording capabilities...if ur budget stretches to that of a N910 y not take a look at Sharp's flagship DR580?? i would think they are similarly priced to the N910...so give that a look...=) both units are good but the Sharp one is better in terms of output and live recording...Sony is a good all-rounder...
  7. u can get the ones used on the N910 and N10 units (RM-MC33EL) remote for it...it's the same as the one on the N710 but only difference is that it's backlit and silver...
  8. try re-installing the drivers and see if that helps...
  9. i would suggest that u take a look at the new Sharp DR580 unit...it looks like a very model...i also own the N10 and so far it hasn't run into any problems but i did own an N1 that stopped recording for some odd reason...it's all fixed now but it was wierd that it just broke down for no apparent reason...on a whole u can trust these big companies as they try and make the units as best they can...though sometimes faults do appear in some of the models...but there are quite a lot of ppl who havn't encountered anything bad on their units as yet...so IMO it's a safe bet to trust Sony and Sharp...
  10. i think u could take a look at the Sharp DR420...very cheap NetMD model from Sharp...they generally have a higher output than that of Sony units and are very good quality (i.e. matching that of Sony's build)...they are highly regarded units and i would recommend them to u as i own a Sharp player and it rocks... i don't know about the 3 year warranty...i thought that MD's only came with one...well Sony only comes with one...lens cleaners just shift dust around basically (but they clean the lens) though they're useful if ur lazy and don't want to to it with a cotton swab...and yes the Euro models of those units are capped at 1.2mW output...
  11. this happened on my N1 as well...it means that the head isn't recording anything onto the disc (as it probably died or somethig)...i had to get it back to a Sony repair center to get it fixed up...try getting it back to a repair center if possible...
  12. well unfortunately there isn't a driver or plug-in that will allow you to use musicmatch with NetMD...Sony is pretty stringent bout licensing so we have to live with the software no matter how crappy it is...
  13. optical is a special in that it allows transfer of data digitally without any loss of transmission due to interference from emf's or discrepencies in the wire...basically if you use an optic cable to transfer from say a CD -> MD then it will more or less be an exact copy of that CD because nothing is lost due to the conversion of analogue to digital and back again...
  14. u can import them from japan through many various online retailers...Japan-Direct i have used personally and would recommend them to you...they should stock up on them...otherwise you could try T-Station or Minidisco...
  15. the N10 has a quieter motor than that of the N1...it does whir from time 2 time but it isn't as loud as that on the N10...if you want near silent motor sound i would suggest that you get a Sharp unit...
  16. i think u'd better uninstall all the NetMD drivers as it may be a conflict between the drivers designed for the N710 and ur CMT-M333NT unit...then just install the drivers that came with the CMT-M333NT...
  17. i think it's best to take ur unit back to a Sony repair center and get it taken looked @...this is probably your best bet into getting the recorder working again...
  18. you can find where the OpenMG/SonicStage puts the .omg files : For SonicStage : by just clicking on the Menu button on the bottom left then go to Options...from there there should be an option on the left box called Location to save the recorded files...clicking on that will show you where SonicStage puts them....just copy and paste that directory into Windows Explorer and go to that directory and delete all the .omg files there... For OpenMG : this is a similar method since OpenMG and SonicStage are essentially the same program just with a different GUI (though OpenMG 2.2 and SonicStage 1.2 look exactly alike...) Go to the menu on the top bar called Tools then Options the from there a box will pop up with a few tabs on the top...clicking on the one named CD Recording/Playing 1 and going about 1/2 down the screen you will see an option called Settings for CD Recording and below that a box where it tells you the Location to save the recorded file...copy and paste this in Windows Explorer to open up the directory and delete the .omg files...
  19. sorry i didn't see this post...um basically get an external battery box and it should be alright i think...i'm not entirely sure since i haven't worked with these in depth...
  20. hey there, well if u want to get a new MD just for that i would most probably suggest u look at the Sharp DR470 or DR420 if you're under a tight budget...these are very good models and i'm sure u can import them from Japan...
  21. have u tried checking the manual??? i think there should be a table of some sort at the back somewhere telling u what the error should mean...otherwise try finding on minidisc.org the service manual for the model and see if that has it...otherwise i don't know where else u would be able to find it sorry...
  22. heyy there, i'll answer ur q's 1st b4 i elaborate on them... yup that's right 4 all 3 q's... from Sony yes... the 505 unit would work alright but i would recommend that u take a look at the Sharp DR470 or DR420 units...they offer more features that u'd like to have such as adjusting levels on the fly as well as a powered mic input...that and Sharp recorders are reknown for making really good units 4 live recording...IMO their quality of live recording are unsurpassed by any other company including Sony... feel free to ask any other questions you might have...
  23. yep u can use the remote on either of these units...but i don't think u will get the 2 line display...
  24. nope this remote doesn't illuminate dispite what the pictures show...it's just typical Sony tactics in showing the reflective tint on the unit...unless that they changed the remote and it doesn't support radio (same ones used on the N910 and N10 units...) then yeh...but to my knowledge all radio enabled remotes are non-backlit...
