  1. heyy there, it looks to me u have enough money to afford the best...^^ the model that i would suggest u take a look at is the NH900...this model is basically the same as the NH1 but with a removeable gumstick NiMH battery...this for me is a good thing as u can hot swap them when ur running low during a recording...this would probably be similarly priced to the MN910 that's currently available on the market...and yes this unit will be able to record from any source that u can input into the device other than ur PC's USB connection...
  2. yep that's right...i think it creates a temp file and then once it's done it deletes it...so far i hav'n encountered any loss of space nor do i encounter the dreaded check-out limit when using SimpleBurner...
  3. if u can wait then it's better to see how good the NH1 unit is before u make ur decision...
  4. i had this problem with mine and it turned out to be a hardware problem with my N1 unit...try recording normally using an cables from ur PC and see if ur unit records...if not then the recording lens is either dead or misaligned and the best bet is to take it in for repairs (which is what i did)
  5. yep more or less...i just like the clean design on the NH1...but yeh i would be very interested in the Hi-MD units that Sharp and Panasonic release as well...
  6. any of the recent car MD units will play back tracks recorded from ur N707 (MD-LP mode) so there's no problems there...

quite bad actually...i wouldn't use it if u cared about the quality of ur music...otherwise i think it's sufficient for recording lectures and stuff like that...
  8. basically any of the remotes used by the current units can be use on the N505 (i think) but i don't know of any that will work on the NE410 unless that unit has a remote jack...
  9. u can't check in files recorded from ur MD to ur PC...u have to record it manually in real-time using analogue cables...
  10. unfortunately neither of these units have an optical output for digital transfers from the unit...look at a deck if u want this functionality and for the time being there is no slick interface of getting music back from MD -> PC via NetMD...

ok sorry that pic was from SonicStage 1.5...um seems odd to me that OpenMG would show that the total track time is about 80min (but the number of tracks that u can fit on it would most probably have exceeded 30...???) if so then nothing is wrong...if not then there's something seriously wrong with the way that u have converted ur songs...because on a 74min MD that i have i have 34 songs with Remain : 03:34 and Total Track Time of 02:14:39 with Size : 149.2MB...all songs encoded in LP2 and an average of about 4min each...
  12. that's odd....did u try to install the drivers when it prompted (as in after it says Unknown device found and search for drivers box pops up??)
  13. (re: previous post) erm :?: :?: :?: anyway regarding ur post about u/l i would think it could do SP u/l...but details are sketchy atm...(not 100% sure yet since no one has a test unit to review) but were u thinking about NetMD d/l and not u/l?? as u can u/l SP (as well as LP) recordings thru NetMD (but in real-time) but u can't d/l in SP quality thru NetMD...
  14. i would say NH1, NH900, NHF800 and NH3D...hmmm...well the NH1 looks like an interesting unit but the internal li-ion battery is something that i don't look fwd to so the NH900 is next on the list but i don't really like the way the front face looks...it's a bit cluttered for me (i like my products to have a simple/streamlined look), the NHF800 is interesting because it has the tuner...would like to know how it performs but it probably would have less functions than that of the 1st 2 unit, and the NH3D is a download only unit which is last on my list (as i do require something small and light with recording features)
  15. i didn't know the DR580's cradle had a digital out...last time i checked they took it out...???
  16. yep Leland has a lot of MD's...not too sure if i have as many as him but i'v owned these models over the years... Sony R2, R30, R50, R55, R91, R900, N1, N10, E2, E30, E900, E10, MDS-JA333ES, JB980, CMT-C5 Panasonic SJ-MR100, MR200, MR220, MJ70, MJ88, Aiwa AM-F70, F80, HX400, Sharp MD-MS722, DS8, Onkyo MD-P30
  17. just install the NetMD drivers again without the unit being plugged in...then once done open up SonicStage and plug the unit in...this usually works for me...

u have to reacord in LP4 for this it be able fit 5hrs worth on an MD...but the quality is pretty bad IMO so i tend to stay away from it...LP2 = 79min on an 80min MD?!?!? LP2 should hold double that amount...i think u were recording in SP mode since ur not getting any more storage space over the 80min MD disc...see this pic to see where you go to change the modes...(this is in SonicStage btw) after going there choose Maximize Available transfer space...

    ATRAC3 help

    how about RealOne or SimpleBurner?
  20. u could be sure that the more expensive models are fully metal...the lower ones i'm not 100% sure of...but in that price range not too sure which is fully metal but around $200 i think that the Panasonic SJ-MJ95 is fully metal...
  21. u could also go for a Sharp DR420 unit as well...they have really good recording features and awesome sound...but other than that the N710 is a reasonable unit for recording...many fellow boarders have it and they seem to be happy with their purchase so i wouldn't worry too much about it...they still sell the R900 in Sony Stores???
  22. well they are bad because u can't take them out and swap them for another fully charged one like a gumstick can and from what i'm guessing would be similarly spec'd to that on the N10 (which sux IMO)
  23. not too sure as this couldn't be done on the current NF810...
  24. most MD units already do this so there's not like a specific model that u should be looking for, for a unit to have this specific feature....
  25. u could use WinAMP along with a plug-in called WinCue (this will make the gaps between tracks that your MD unit requires to make trackmarks...)
