  1. just make sure u have all the right cables...for an analogue transfer u need 3.5mm stereo cable connecting from the LINE OUT of your PC's soundcard to the LINE IN on your MD...just fire up a program such as mp32md or Creative MD Center and hit play (on your PC) and record (on your MD) simultaneously and it should start recording...for digital it's similar but u need a different cable, an optic one (usually Sony supply you with square->mini plug TOSLink cable)...connect one end of the cable from ur PC's OPTIC OUT to your MD unit's OPTIC IN and do the same thing as with analogue recordings...
  2. ah yes i remember that model...very old school indeed...^^ forgot about that one hehe...
  3. yep kurisu is right...there isn't an MD recorder out there yet that has a wireless remote...but there is a player that has one...it's the only one with a wireless remote i think, check it out here...
  4. yikes...sorry to hear that...never knew that Sony's software can be such a pain...
  5. yep same here but i've never got that speed before even with the unit right next to the dongle...that's odd...oh well
  6. if it doesn't work with your LINE IN via the computer's soundcard then it means that the mic isn't powered and it won't work on your MD unit either...what u need is an external power box to fix this up...i'm not too sure if the "hack" can give u a powered mic input as i've never had to havk any of my units yet...
  7. basically as iceeedtea said above wait for the Hi-MD's to come out before making up ur mind between Sharp and Sony...Sharp have the advantage of recording over Sony and as for sound as well i think Sharp has the edge (but it's more biased towards the bass than the treble IMO)...Sony on the other hand is what most people use for a ranged music taste and seem quite content with their sound quality...
  8. well basically ANALOGUE : look for a LINE OUT of the soundcard and the LINE IN to the MD and connect a normal stereo 3.5 cable in both the sockets and hit play on MusicMatch and Record on the MD unit... DIGITAL : similar thing as above but look for a TOSLink out of the soundcard (a Square one prefereably) and a OPTIC IN (circle) on the MD unit you have...press play on MusicMatch and record on the MD...that's basically it for recording...
  9. which part stops working the USB connection or the Analogue connection???
  10. odd...it should work when you 1st install the software...
  11. i agree with iceeedtea...if u can try recording it the old school way in realtime using cables from your PC and see if it can record...if not then it's the hardware that's screwed and only optionis to take it in for repairs i'm afraid...
  12. i think that your MD might either be screwed up or the lens can't read the disc properly that's y it takes a while for it to do a TOC edit...
  13. just install SonicStage and then remove OpenMG...the site that mushroom gave above is the full installation of SonicStage even though it says it's an update...

    earphones

yep i agree with KJ...Sennheisers offer best value for money...plus their earbuds r0x0rs... i would recommend the MX500's to u...
  15. um there should be a patch for OpenMG that will allow you to update it...sorry but i can't seem to find the link to it atm...
  16. the 11EL / 12ELK remotes were built for the N1/707/505 series of units so it would work perfectly on it...i would get the 11 over the 12 as the 11 has nice smooth scrolling of the title and a nicer font than that of the 12..plus the 12's scrolling is shocking...very jerky...think something like on the front of the N1 unit...ther 33EL /35ELK remotes are meant for the newer units...they are backward compatible with the 1st generation of NetMD's but some features of the remote can't be used properly such as the group...and in my case i found it a little wierd to use at first and took a while getting used to since i've been using the 11EL since my E900 unit...i would get the 11EL it's cheap and it works fine with the unit without getting to remember which button works on the remote and which doesn't with ur unit... and i use the group quite a bit as i like my music kinda organised into groups...i got into the habit of this when i got my iPod...
  17. i don't think u can just order one off the net...since sony don't sell parts like these...try taking it back to a sony center and ask them for a quote or something...if it cost too much to get (which i'm pretty sure it will coz ironically it's a Sony... ) u can go take a look around eBay or something and see if someone is selling a 2nd hand one (possibly a non-working version) for cheap and use it for parts...
  18. i bet us ppl down in aus have to wait longer until Hi-MD hits our shores...
  19. 1) try updating the program and see if it helps if all else fails there is always realtime SP recording... jk jk... 2) not too sure, try updating the program as i've mentioned above...u could try other programs but they don't transfer in SP modes...only SonicStage and OpenMG do so... 3) afraid not...the only software that allows NetMD transfers are marketed by Sony except for RealOne... 4) Sony's software is dodgy...it's not XP... 5) Simple Burner is another Sony software that allows you to transfer music across but only in LP2 and LP4...
  20. this may be a bit late but the 33EL remote works on the N707 but some of the buttons don't do what it's suppose to...since the remote is newer than the N707 unit the config has been remapped and the buttons such as the group fwd and group back buttons don't work on ur unit...most of the others do work however...but it might get a little taking used to using the remote since some of the buttons have been remapped...
  21. well if this model is indeed a slot in model then it would be like very interesting indeed...i've owned a Sharp 722 model that had was slot in...but if the flap on this unit is similar to the one employed yonks ago on the 722 then i wouldn't worry about it too much...it was very sturdy and it doesn't let any coins in...but then again their eject mechanism was a little unique...
  22. USB uploading as u are aware is not possible yet...not until the Hi-MD's come out neways no current portable MD unit has this feature...but have you taken a look at the Sharp range of units??? they offer practically what you are looking for and they're pretty cheap as well...
  23. hey there and welcome to our forums... to answer your question the new Hi-MD format will be well worth the wait in my opinion...i myself as well as many fellow posters will undoubtly get one eventually...the difference between the existing format and the new Hi-MD format is that Hi-MD's have a bigger capacity it holds up to 1GB of data or around 8 hours of music in SP (Standard Play) recording mode called SP (or for Hi-MD's they call this Hi-SP)...there are also LP (Long Play) recording modes that come in two flavours or so to speak; LP2 (Long Play x 2) and LP4 (Long Play x 4) so on a Hi-MD you will be able to have up to 16 hrs of music stored in LP2 mode and 32 hrs of music in LP4 mode...but other than the difference in how much music can fit on the disc and having the ability to upload music from MD -> PC there isn't much else that the Hi-MD has over the current models...Hi-MD's are bridging the gap between MD and mp3 players because it is a high capacity media that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy bigger storage cards for the unit...also the price of the new units will be similar to that of what you see now with the current units...also the discs themselves will be similarly priced to that of the current MD blanks on the market.... hope this helps...
  24. well the sound output i reckon is loud...much louder than that of my Sharp player due mainly to the higher amp that they employ...sound quality is so so...i reckon MD's are better still but it's not bad...
