  1. It's possible, but not as nice to operate as Sharp's. Still too much fiddling. How about looking at an MT190, or the swanky new DR7?
  2. I think that would actually make the forum much harder to manage.
  3. Sounds like that is the problem. You can always go back afterwards and press "T-Mark" on a Sony, or use the divide function on other units.
  4. *Sigh* Apologies, people. The MS701/702 does have 10mW per channel into 32 ohms. However, the 721 and 722 have 10mW into 16 ohms (according to it's manual). And, surprisingly, so does the MT15. Please excuse me. I forgot about the 701. It's like saying most Sonys are 5mW into 16 ohms, and getting upset that the E909 is the only one with 3mW into 32 ohms... Please, enlighten me as to the "many other" recorders from Sharp who's HP out is 10mW at 32 ohms. The only other is the best sounding recorder of all time (bar the DR7, haven't heard that one) the MT831. I guess 10mW at 32 isn't so standard?
  5. Can you try your recordings on another MD unit? I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the unit itself, just the headphone jack. It's unlikely, but try swapping out the analogue cable to see if that is the problem.
  6. I thought that audio MD was 140MB, MD Data was 160MB and MD Data II was 650MB.
  7. If the JB930 has variable pitch and speed, I would have thought that the JB940 and JB980 would too. The JE770 and JE780 also have variable pitch and PS/2 port, but I don't know about variable speed...
  8. You do have a blank MD inserted? Does the unit power up at all?
  9. I buy my blanks from either Sony Central in Perth, Myer, or really anywhere I see blanks for sale. If you want really cheap, really great blanks, keep an eye out for BASF/EMTECs. Cheap cheap! I've got a thing with Sony, so I buy mostly TDKs or EMTECs, even though most of my blanks ARE Sonys.
  10. Only the MT170/180/190/200 were 10mW@32 ohms. All other Sharps were 10mW@16 ohms or 5mW@32 ohms - effectively the same. Sonys are usually 5mW@16 ohms (2.5mW@32 ohms). Check what the impedence rating is on those new Sonys. I think the E909 was 3mW@32 ohms. Panasonic: 3.5mW@22 ohms, or 3mW@32 ohms. Aiwa: 8mW@16 ohms, 3.8mW@32 ohms. So don't just go on the mW alone. My RQ-NX60 tape player from Panasonic is "only" 3.5mW, but that's into 50 ohms. Blasts almost any MD out there.
  11. I've been searching long and hard, and haven't found one.
  12. Ooooooooh, there was one a IGN somewhere. :? Personally, I'd get the MR250 as Panasonic is my first choice for recorders. The MR250 is also more of a "value-added" package than the N1, and dare I say it - it should be built better than the N1 too. I wouldn't put it past Sharp developing a NetMD DR7, but not just yet.
  13. NooWaaG, if you want a unit that does all that (the MT190 doesn't even have an LCD remote), then look at the MT888 or 899. Even then, they still lack a level meter on the remote.

    Help me

Have you set the preferred output device as "USB Audio Device" in Control Panel?
  15. This sounds perfectly normal - that scraping noise is the sound of the reed screw moving the laser and magnetic head moving. You want loud? You should hear my MR200.
  16. If you can still find one, the MT877 had the option of buying a USB kit that allowed, among other functions, titling from PC.
  17. If the speakers are powered, then there shouldn't be much difference, if any. If you are using passive speakers (no power, they run off the unit, like headphones), even then there shouldn't be much difference. The big difference if when you use headphones, and the Sharp would blow the rest away. The MT80 is also oldish tech - there is nothing newer that works for you? At least take a squizz at the MT190.
  18. Does it make the noise all the time, or just when you are editing a disc/using NetMD?
  19. The only reason I can think of is that if you bought a portable recorder or player with digital out, there would be no need for a deck, would there? I guess a deck and a portable recorder is to expensive?
  20. I store mine in a Moss Wood 1.5L Magnum wooden box.
  21. Currently, the DR7 is only available in Japan. Minidisco just imports them direct from Japan. They are a very good etailer, and the only thing that could happen is that customs makes you pay an import fee when your DR7 makes it to the Czech Republic, although this usually doesn't happen. Did they send you an email saying this might happen?
  22. A deck is basically a VCR-like box that only plays and records MDs, in a nutshell. Mini/micro systems usually offer a radio tuner and CD player and speakers.
  23. You can record to PC digitally, however not with a portable. You can record with a portable, and then use a deck with digital out to record (in real-time) to your PC. It's what I do occasionally.
  24. The Sony is half as powerful as your MT15, and the Panasonic is rated the same as the Sony (even though it is 3.5mW). Both should be able to run portable and powered speakers fine. Have you looked at something similar to your MT15? Try the MT190 or MT200.
