  1. Wow, welcome to the forums Ishiyoshi. Whilst I am glad that a few of the people I knew well from the T-Board are here now, I am a bit saddened that things are deconstructing over there. It was never my intent to try and take members away, and I still believe that both can co-exist peacefully without the "rival board" sense. Nonetheless, it is exciting to see this place more active!
  2. I believe for it to work you'll need to do this:
  3. I just got an e-mail from Peter stating:
  4. Ok, I added German support for jadeclaw and indeeego. You can select it on the bottom left of the index. If anyone else wants their native language, just shout and I'll hook ya up.
  5. Shopping 1. Where can I buy blanks for my HiMD? Oh, come on you charlatan. Haven't you tried a Google search, a Froogle search, a MDCF search, or a custom Minidisc.org google engine? 2. Where can I buy XXXXXX for my HiMD units? What about Import Units? Well, a somewhat fair e-tailer is Audiocubes, who features outrageous and impossible to obtain MD/Hi-MD units at quite the cost, but they are efficient most of the time. Minidisco has my nod as the best overall e-tailer for Minidisc in the USA. They are really good people and you will never have a bad experience with them. I can freely say that and mean it. Another unused option is Dynaism , an e-tailer with a great reputation that can do custom orders like Audiocubes.Teamdigital is a pretty major player, and I'd put them behind Minidisco in terms of overall good experience. Don't forget Minidisc Australia for you Aussies. 3. What is the main difference between Japanese, American, European, and World Tourist Units? Well, it depends. It seems as if Sony is experimenting with all of them, but the other companies don't have to worry about such, as they sell in limited regions. For the best information on this subject, please search the model name here at the forums, or through Minidisc.org via our Google search engine. World Tourist models are actually the best of them all and will never be outdone, ever. 4. Why do I need a voltage converter? Where can I buy one? Voltage converters/transformers are used to convert electricity. North America and some other countries operate on 110V/120V AC 60Hz, while most of other countries operate on 220/240 volts AC 50Hz. Voltage transformers convert the power into different voltage, so your equipment can be powered at different countries without being damaged. Remember this.
  6. Damage, I'm trying out.. As I write this. Seems really really slow. EDIT: HA! It fully scanned for bad sectors and didn't find any. Now to accumulate some and see if it'll repair ok.
  7. Download Service Pack 2 for XP if you haven't already, then uninstall via the directions in the NetMD faq and download Sonicstage 2.3 from connect.com.
  8. You do raise an interesting point, Endlezz; Hi-SP through stereo is probably decent. I imagine it'd be great for cars.
  9. I'm really starting to get fed up with my current job. I have been working for a small cable internet service provider here in Maryland for more than a year, doing technical support. My position is part time, from 3pm - 10pm on Monday + Wednesday, 3:30 - midnight on Saturday and Sunday. Not the best hours, but I've adjusted my life accordingly and things were okay. The pay is above average and I get free cable television [hdtv as well] and free cable internet [3.2mbps down/256kbps up]. So, a new year and some positions have been shifted and one fellow was let go. The daytime second shift, which is from 3pm - midnight, is now available. This is a full time shift. My boss has informed me that they now want me to work from 3-10pm on Monday - Wednesday, 4-10pm on Thursday and Friday. I'm not happy with such. This is the second time I've been overlooked on a full time position. A full time shift had opened from 7am-3pm months ago and was given to my former weekend co-worker. He was the bloke who I mentioned had got canned. His nomination to recieve the position initally was a little hard for me to swallow, but I accepted it and moved on. I trained a new person in his place during the weekends and she is now exceling only after a few weeks. So, it seems like they want to hire someone new for the full time shift that runs from 3 pm - midnight. I have worked my ass off for a year plus and I get a few more hours, just slipping under the full time radar; I need this insurance, I need the respect that I've been working for. I cannot believe that they are going to hire someone new in a position that I would do exceptionally in. I'm going to have a meeting with my boss on Monday and find out why I have not been chosen again for a full time position. I will not be obtrusive in my words, but this is seriously starting to bother me and I need to know the truth. p.s. At least this new shift, whatever it may be, will stop this working on the weekend business. What a waste of my life.
  10. About $200. I had used $70 for an Inivison Power Board lisence.
  11. Seems like the webmaster isn't keen on purchasing hardware this time around, and rather just go with leasing it. The plans and hardware that we'd be leasing would be through a trusted associate of his, so no worries about stability. Plus, it'll be a dedicated server that will definitely be alot better than what we could afford with a monthly price just about the same as he pays for bandwidth currently. So, all of the money that was donated will go towards that, or possibly other add-ons for the forums or something along those lines.
  12. Cool, cool. I'll give the Variety Playhouse a shot first as I lived in Georgia for a decade and a half and have been there too many times to count. I'll post some impressions after I get it on Hi-MD and give it a good listen!
  13. That would be nice. Campfire cracklin' in the background, and the cool midsummer breeze to accent the soundstage. Sometimes words can take you there, my man. Any new adventures on the horizon? And what's this about you getting old? p.s. I've commenced "the raping".
  14. I just wanted to thank mrsoul for his contribution. You guys have definitely made my job here feel worthwhile, and I'm glad that you guys are able to help us in our time of need. It looks like the deadline I'd initally enforced is no longer necessary, y'all can donate whenever. I had initally thought that we'd be upgrading at that moment, but it looks like we're going to go with another solution.
  15. Yeah, which needs to change..
  16. Expect to see more headphones geared towards cell phones [as there's mention of the QuietSpot Inline in this press release] as 2005 will be all about MP3's and cell phones, espesically with the Motorola + Apple iTunes phone coming out soon. I still can't get into earbuds though, the potential they have to destroy your hearing is quite high.
  17. Definitely read what streaml1ne linked, it will answer all of your questions.
  18. They are great with Canadian purchases, from what I've read. Wouldn't it be more logical to order from minidisc-canada.com , however?
  19. This was probably to be expected, but skyther has resigned from the moderating team. He has made some very insightful contributions and also did a great review for us a while back about the NH3D. I will miss his presence, but it's for the best.
  20. This thread has devolved into something far from what I had intended when I created this thread.
  21. Easy, guys.. And Mel, it's good you're stating your opinion and all, but it's hard to entrust/swallow your words when they're so biased. There's no middle ground in your context, it's just ranting. But..I guess that's why you'll make a good lawyer, no?
  22. mrsoul, if you had to pick one to put on a Hi-MD disc, which would you choose? That way I can download it and pop it in before I go to work..
  23. Welcome.. Switch the unit to NetMD mode. Refer to your manual for more information on this. Additionally, you can also select SP mode in Sonicstage, but I will note that it is not true SP, but LP2 rebadged as SP for compatibility purposes. The only way to get true SP is realtime recording in this situation. For some odd reason, Sony was never able to perfect SP transfers through NetMD.
  24. The opinions of two moderators do not represent the rest of the staff.
  25. I understand mate. Additionally, if you ever want to make sure you're free of baddies on your computer, you can always read my tips here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=6621
