I can only hope that this constant swarm of hits will end soon, as it has made minidisc.org and these forums nearly impossible to reach at times. It seems to have lessened in severity, but only highlights the limitations of this server. I'll be discussing with Eric server upgrades [hopeuflly] that will occur sometime in '05.

? ? ? ? field recordings? ? ? ? what would you suggest for..

Hi-MD is most certainly the efficient solution. Where abouts are you located? -
Upgrade to Sonicstage 2.3 @ connect.com. Please don't triple post in the future, you can EDIT your posts accordingly.

What's the current battery life on your unit?
-
Welcome. :welcome: What version of Sonicstage are you using?
-
True, sorry, I was in a rush and it seemed like you'd implied that. You can also record optically, with an analog cable or a microphone, etc. But I think that computer transfers will be what this gentleman will employ.

RECORDING PROBLEMS: Sometimes S-S freezes/sometimes it works
Christopher replied to a.sleeper's topic in Software
Uninstall the codecs, uninstall RealPlayer, reinstall via the directions in the NetMD faq. Do not install Realplayer again.. -
Hello, and welcome to the forums. :welcome: First off, it's called Hi-MD [not MI-HI]. To put tracks on a Hi-MD unit, you will need Sonicstage 2.# or Simple Burner 2. Transferring music or various audio files is a very easy process and takes only a few minutes per CD. You can transfer from tape, CD or mp3 but they will have to be converted first, just like how things were with your R900. The difference with these models is that the ATRAC conversion occurs on the computer and is then sent to the unit, whereas the method you had to adhere to was realtime and the ATRAC conversion was done within the unit itself.

Hi-MD is the best way to go, imho. What's your maximum budget? -
Latexxx must think we're insane. Nice review, btw.

The forum has been extremely slow today and was pretty much incapable of serving visitors yesterday as it's getting SLAMMED by this worm. We're not getting hacked or anything, but there are so many variants attacking that our little server can't handle the high load. I apologize for this, but it's out of my control.

Sony's Wav converter -- A Waste of Time -- YMMV however
Christopher replied to 1kyle's topic in Minidisc
Exactly, sxc. It's a very carefree process and there's some misleading information in this post that may influence people in a wrong way. -
Hey, as long as the bugger clicks on ads I'll be okay.. Merry Christmas jade, hope all is well for you this eve.

Welcome. :welcome: Very creative, that jumped at me a bit. I just got my Hi-MD unit as well the other day and I do agree that recording and uploading is an easy and carefree process! I've had alot of fun with it so far. Anyway, seems like a pretty good review, obviously compression doesn't phase you as it does most people on the internet, which is fine, we don't scathe people like that here. If you're so confident with Hi-LP however, what do you think of Hi-SP? And what headphones are you using? Additionally, Hi-MD can work with Mac, sorta. The data transfer bit works, and you could transfer audio but it'd have to be in realtime.

Welcome, Andrew. Read this for me real quick: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=5799

As ROM says, the only way at the moment is in realtime, either with an analog male to male cable - one end in the line out or headphone out on the computer to the line in or mic in on the unit or digitally through an optical out on the computer in question to the digital in on the unit.

how do I title optical non netmd recordings using ss2.3
Christopher replied to bland10000's topic in Software
Hrm, do you have Simple Burner 2 installed? It'd probably be alot easier to facilitate this. -
Atrac Format Why does it have to be Proprietary?
Christopher replied to Mark Pickton's topic in Minidisc
 At the moment, Hi-MD's can facilitate *.wav files, although they are wrapped in a DRM shell. -
Sonicstage issues w/ HI-SP 256kbps and recording through USB
Christopher replied to Da Jay Swizzle's topic in Software
Welcome to the forums. Uninstall the codec pack. -
I am not having this issue on my Hi-MD unit, but it would be interesting if we could isolate this to a codec issue or perhaps too much content? Come back, Cadevil5. :rasp:

Is your unit in NetMD or Hi-MD mode?

Optical recording - pclink not working R900
Christopher replied to PaulBennett's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Have you set the PCLink as the sound outputting device in Control Panel? Go to Control Panel, then click on "Sounds and Audio Devices", then click on the Audio tab and check what the default playback device is. btw, there's a ton of e-tailers that have Hi-MD units and blanks for sale. -
That's it...I've Had it...Done with Hi-MD & Minidisc!
Christopher replied to CygnusTC's topic in Minidisc
I am very happy with my NH900. It takes a no more than five minutes per cd [that includes transcode and transfer], Sonicstage nor Simple Burner has never crashed and uploading is flawless; Marcnet's utility rocks, btw. Live recording with the NH900 is really nice, except the whole default AGC pittance, but other than that I'm in love. The functionality of this device is really fantastic. -
Definitely read the manual! Alot of it is actually pretty intuitive from my perspective. The 40ELK definitely helps..

Enter the menu and select "Option" - "Beep". Turn the jog dial until "Beep off" appears in the display, and then confirm it.
