  1. http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=5519 btw, I recommend all people upgrade to Sonicstage 2.3 at the link a few posts above that Latexxx made. Very nice.
  2. I understand, it can be a bit confusing. Here is a listing of most of the Minidisc models ever made: http://minidisc.org/equipment_browser.html Hi-MD is at the top. To get a decent functional recorder, you'll have to stretch that budget just a little bit. You can get a regular MD recorder [the units listed below Hi-MD in the link above] but the ability to upload your recordings to computer in an easy manner will be comprimised. If you get a Hi-MD unit, you can upload your recordings to computer fast and convert them to *.wav, which gives you the ability to do whatever you wish with the recording - burn to cd, manipulate in a relevant program, etc.
  3. Then read this: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=7073
  4. Do you want Hi-MD? Because that's really the best solution for microphone use and this format.
  5. Some new smilies:  :peace: :spite:  :welcome: :thumbsup2:  :elitist: :rasp2: Just click on "View more Emoticons" when posting a reply [i will look into finding a way to make this work with quick reply]
  6. Freezing, eh? Check to make sure you don't have any of the bad stuff mentioned here: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=6621
  7. lordmoney, welcome to the forums. :welcome: What operating system are you using?
  8. Welcome. :welcome: This is the case, I believe: So yes, it appears so. :thumbsup2:
  9. Holy crap, there's a ton man. You need to make better use of minidisc.org's Equipment Browser and these forums! I'll get you started, but tell me, what's your maximum budget?
  10. There were some threads where I remember jadeclaw clearly stating that he heard sonic differences between Sonicstage 2.0 and 2.1 I believe. I wouldn't doubt they've manipulated the codec slightly "for the better", but everyone has a different opinion about such. I wonder if there's any difference in 2.2 and 2.3?
  11. So, you dropped it eh.. Did this all start happening after such?
  12. Then give these a shot: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=7173 Comments can go in this thread.
  13. All functions should be 100% operational. The RM-MC38EL remote will work as well as the 40ELK. Other various remote models work, but full compatibility reports are not in stone.
  14. The revision of ATRAC on the MZ-1, the aforementioned unit, is sonically inferior to the equipment we use today [as it employs the first version of ATRAC]. I can't vouch for how good it would sound or even if it would be compatible with today's encoding [as bland eludes to], and I'm not sure if it'd be a worthwhile endeavor. Test and see, I guess.
  15. Be sure to write back with your impressions.
  16. You're dead on. They don't see the need to bring that over the ATRAC3plus codec. If they can improve the spectrum they've enlisted for the lowest and the highest bitrates with the codec, after a few generations of maturity, then it won't be that bad of a codec after all. I just don't honestly believe it will happen with ATRAC3plus; it's not in the ATRAC WORLD, n•code Professional ATRAC3plus Audio Encoding Tool [it says 132kbps there, but it's really ATRAC3 if you do some reading] or any other of those websites. I just say use mature 132kbps ATRAC3 and be content with it. Would the difference between it and it being in a ATRAC3plus form really be a worthwhile endeavor? What I'm saying is that they made the right decision - low bitrate ATRAC and high bitrate ATRAC needed the most improvement. I'm excited to see what 256kbps ATRAC3plus will be like with a couple of revisions, and the same with 64kbps.
  17. Welcome to the forums. This doesn't happen very often, so I have alot of interest in this matter. Anyway, have you tried recording in realtime and then seeing if it occurs? Like with a mic or via an analog connection? If it occurs there then I think we'd have a better idea of the issue.
  18. Yep, try searching next time, we've discussed it before.
  19. Can the aforementioned people and possibly anyone else with an interest private message me with some other topics we should put as stickies at the top of this forum?
  20. That should be a fine recording unit as long as it's coupled with a good microphone and perhaps battery box. If you want to upload your recordings it will have to be in realtime however, but all in all that's a damn good deal for only $50. Does it come with the original FM/AM remote?
  21. I'm not sure yet as I still haven't recieved my NH900, but it seems like more people favor SP. There is a ton of thoughts about this here: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=5950
