Welcome to the forums. I would recommend you read around a bit so you understand where we are concerning uploads. It's a bit sketchy at the moment. Nonetheless, you can upload, but only in realtime. I would suggest you look into Hi-MD units, espesically the MZ-NH900. It'll probably fit you well.

If someone can make an adapter to convert the proprietary USB connection that connects to the NH1/NH3D to the normal one that the NH900 + co. uses, I'm sure they'd make a good bit of money.

Good call, and most likely true. However, the most proper way to use a Sharp NetMD unit with softwares such as Sonicstage is as follows: Install drivers that came with Sharp NetMD unit only, and then install Sonicstage 2 after.
