Caught it. This thread has served it's purpose.

Hello, I've read before from the words of jadeclaw long ago that it seemed like there was an improvement in the prepackaged* ATRAC3/plus codec that comes with Sonicstage 2.1 over 2.0. This has always made me wonder, is there really a difference? Was there one from 1.5 to 2.0 [specifically LP2]? I'll call Sony later today or tomorrow and see what they have to say. I may do an ABX test somehow. I cringe at the thought of installing and uninstalling all these versions of Sonicstage. * - yet still inferior to on-unit codecs

How to change the language setting on the MZ-NH1(remote)
Christopher replied to Aznsilvrboy's topic in Minidisc
*high five* -
SS doesn't allow unlimited checkouts, it's the newer version of OpenMG that does so. SS2 = facade. The newest package of Sonicstage 2 comes with a better encoding codec, I believe..compared to 1.5. I don't have firm tests on this, but it seems to be a somewhat general consensus.

Analog recording to a Nf-610 type S
Christopher replied to albertonium's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Doh doh; that's what I get for going to bed at 5ish am last night, waking up at 2pm and immediately going here. Thanks. :rasp: -
Looks like the database woes have been corrected and things are back to normal. Anyway, I consolidated "Japanese MD/Hi-MD scene + MD/Hi-MD Media Discussion" and made it a subforum of "Tips and Tricks". Not the most appropriate place to put it, but the forum wasn't seeing much use anyway. Reactive Sounds now have their forum in the Marketplace.

Striping is useful for boot times and multi tasking situations, but honestly I believe that's about it. Comments on this? http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=2101

Holy smokes, it's the ghost of iPod past. I dunno man, how much will that cost you? I think a single Raptor won't be too loud considering I sit next to an AC unit.

Do them a favor and have them upgrade to Sonicstage 2.1 as well! It works for NetMD units, too.

Questions/Comments for Marc's uploading utility.
Christopher replied to journalist's topic in Hi-MD Renderer Forum
It'll be interesting to see what occurs when this is announced on minidisc.org today. I told Eric to mirror it so your site doesn'r explode, marc. btw, expect something on Wednesday. -
Analog recording to a Nf-610 type S
Christopher replied to albertonium's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Welcome to the forums. The optical port is indeed purely optical. Male to male mini jack connections can only be made with a mic-in connection. An analog to digital cable is easily available online, perhaps you should scout some websites and see what you pull up. Shelf systems? What's your maximum budget? You can't upload because you're using a NetMD unit. This functionality is only available with Hi-MD units. -
Fixed.

Voice/Music recordings to a regular CD via a PC...
Christopher replied to edlittlejr's topic in Minidisc
Welcome to the forums. If you want digital uploading to the computer in a faster than real-time scenario you will need a Hi-MD unit. Using the R50 would be sufficent, but uploading would be a semi-hassle and you'd probably fare better with a Hi-MD unit. I would recommend the NH900 if you can swing it. Forget the wav converter. marcnet has done it himself: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=6087 I'm not going to comment about #3, but I know that someone will chime in and give you a great suggestion. #4..will get you a few biased opinions. I'm thinking that if you keep everything in *.wav as your archive, and make a web-version copy of each in Ogg-Vorbis format you'll fare well. Ogg would be good in this situation. Stick around, friend; we'll take care of you. I'm interested in these recordings, too! -
Uninstall via the directions here: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4171

Direct link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=5721217459 I can't find these anywhere else. I recommend buying them if you're in the market for new batteries.

I'll see what I can do, but I doubt there's anything like this considering what I have modded with the forums.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Maybe sell the broken unit on eBay?
-
And you followed the directions within this thread: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=6087 Exactly how it states?
-
You are using a Hi-MD unit, right?
-
Are you employing a Hi-MD unit? Are you employing Sonicstage 2.1?
