  1. Don't apologize. I apologize if I came off too strongly, but I also want to make sure that people know that we put these links and instructions as static posts for a reason. I want to make this place a great resource for information, but I also want to make sure that people know how to use it.
  2. The digital amp within the iRiver is similiar to the one found within the E10 and such; it carries no benefit towards the sound and is primarily used in the power consumption sense. I believe the iRiver's output compensates for this, anyway..
  3. Yes, and it's called Sonicstage 2 + many others. Please try looking around our forums for more information before making such a post. If you'd browsed in our NetMD section you would've seen many alternatives for download. Try taking a look at the Announcements and Stickies in this forum. http://forums.minidisc.org/viewforum.php?f=9
  4. There is no information on Hi-MD head units at this time. This has been discussed before; please try searching in the future before asking a question. p.s. I wasn't trying to mark this as being redundant, but I'm also making sure that people get the message that we're not really interested in answering the same questions over and over. You private messaged me with a response criticizing my actions, and I can see that I may have come off too strongly - I apologize for that. Nonetheless, I do recall a thread discussing Hi-MD car units, but I can't find it.. I do welcome discussion captain-kidd, otherwise I wouldn't dedicate myself so much to this forum.
  5. I just recieved an e-mail from David Karon of Minidisco. This e-mail was also sent to the webmaster/owner of this site, and the webmaster of minidisct.com. The contents are as follows:  Most disappointing news indeed.
  6. Well, state what you don't understand or have a question about and I'll answer it for you. :rasp:
  7. Heh, connect.com  itunes.com napster.com musicmatch.com ..and a few more. I think that'll keep you busy for a while.
  8. Well..I would at least try uninstalling everything first [do it the way it's prescribed in the NetMD faq, registry deletions and all] and try a complete reinstallation. I bet if I was at your 'pad I could get it working after a little while..probably just some little discrepancy.
  9. There is a difference, and it's called digital amplification. No modern/popular mp3/etc player has this type of technology in a portable unit other than Minidisc. Most mp3/etc players have beefier outputs, i.e. the iPod has a 30mW output, whereas most MD units have 5mW. The digital amp makes all the difference, though..as I've never met an iPod user who wasn't short of stunned after hearing a MD unit with a digital amp. Most regular MD users who haven't heard a unit with digital amp are usually surprised upon first listen as well. Read this for me: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?p=19090
  10. Larry: Here's a summary of a discussion I had with our webmaster/owner of minidisc.org last night: I can't wait!
  11. This has been pseudo-tested, I believe. The webmaster/owner of Minidisc.org was actually able to test a NH900 yesterday for a upcoming New York Times article and a interview! Should be good press for the site. I believe when he was describing the unit and the uploading functionality there was no error with the uploading process in any aspect. I'd have to double check, but I am about %99.9 on this.
  12. Did you have this problem with iceeedtea's build?
  13. Hello, and welcome to the forums. This question may have been able to be self-answered if you had looked at the minidisc.org equipment browser. No worries, but due try and utilize the great wealth of information available next time. Anyway, the first Sony MDLP-capable car unit was the Sony MDX-G55MK2. So, take a look at this page and scroll a good bit down till you see the aforementioned model name, and then scroll up and you'll see the other MDLP capable units you may want to consider. Also, what is your budget?
  14. I removed the Minidisc Australia and Minidisc Access forums because they weren't seeing any use - and then this thread is made! I feel quite silly now. Anyway, I'm moving this to Hi-MD, and I'm sure that Sefu will take note of this thread and give you a shout.
  15. Hm..go take a look in the Live Recording forum [or just search]. There are some pretty informative threads already. Not much of a taper myself, although I will be once I get my Hi-MD unit. The only downside to recording with a MD unit is getting that recorded music off the MD. Some people have simplified this process with a deck/'shelf with digital out and a sound card with digital in, but unfortunately not everyone in the world can accept this configuration. The only other alternative is analog [and using a male-to-male stereo cable], which is fine if you know what you're doing volume wise [trial and error process, I tellsya], but I like to keep it digital - hence why I want Hi-MD, for it has uploading via USB in a faster than real-time scenario.
  16. Simple question, yet unasked on this forum. What Hi-MD unit are you going to purchase or pre-order? Also, how will you exploit it's awesome functionality? For me, I've decided with a NH900, but I will definitely pursue the remote that comes with the NH1 as a replacement remote. I think that would be a very nice combination, albeit I'll probably need to keep a few spare AA's in my pocket. Also, if you've already preordered, state where you preordered from?
  17. You guys are all over the place! It's obvious to me after reading some of these posts that I'm amongst users who have never used iceeedtea's build of Sonicstage 2! It has cd-writing capability for your tracks, whether they be freshly ripped/converted or even uploaded. I haven't written a CD myself with Sonicstage 2, but I have no doubt that it would work flawlessly. Ripping music off the CD is a different story, but that's not a difficult process and you can use a wide variety of programs to accomplish this.
  18. I would suggest reading up on Hi-MD first, just to make sure you're not making the wrong decision. Otherwise, I would go for the Sharp IM-DR420, as it seems to be a great unit in that price range with fantastic functionality. I know they're about a dime a dozen in the UK, and are available online as well. Don't pay any more than 125 pounds. p.s. info about this unit: http://minidisc.org/part_Sharp_IM-DR400+DR...R410+DR420.html
  19. Welcome. Not really much else to say about this unit, except no uploading to the computer through NetMD. It's a pretty solid unit; I actually saw one for the first time last week and it wasn't as flimsy as I had once thought. You do know the limitations of MD, right?
  20. Keen use for a MD recorder. Welcome to the forums. What's your exact budget?
  21. You cannot transfer a track through USB via "check in". To transfer the music to your computer, you would either have to get a deck/'shelf with optical out and a sound card with optical in and do a 1:1 digital dub - or go analog, with a male-to-male stereo cable and plug one end in the headphone out on the MD and the other end into the "mic in" on your computer and do a 1:1 analog dub.
  22. I have made an addendum to majestic's announcement with the URL you stated. So, by doing so, I've created dupe threads. I'm going to go ahead and lock this one; thank your for the link nonetheless.
  23. Did you have iceeedtea's build installed before you upgraded?
  24. Uninstall everything like so: Re-install Sonicstage 2 only. Then give it a shot.
  25. The model number tells me how your unit can transfer music. Do you already have the associated software on your computer? If not, then I suggest you download Sonicstage 2 here: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4210 Download that and we'll start the introduction process. p.s. do you already have Sonicstage installed?
