  1. Let me tell you one thing, that screen problem your having is definitely not normal -- I really consider the HD5 to be one of Sony's best (sellers), but at the same time one of the worst units to ever debut in a certain sense. I also agree about the build quality -- there was a dip if you consider the HD1, HD3, HD5, NW-A3000 -- which one is the odd one out? You really should have your unit looked at, regardless. Do you have the latest firmware?
  2. Wow, so I was right. This is good, real good. Anything that's high bitrate and works well is always a step in the right direction. I wonder what the battery life would be like with WMA only. Does it say WMA when playing such back on the unit itself?
  3. I have heard that the unit may have better preformance with this update. No offical word yet. Any luck with WMA's?
  4. I'm not sure why the article states 192kbps is the max for VBR. From sources that have been extremely accurate in the past, this is what it does support: CBR 32/48/64/80/96/128/160/192/256/320 kbps VBR 40-75/50-95/85-145/135-215/240-355 kbps Unless anyone can disprove this statement, I will edit the inital topic accordingly.
  5. Ok, it looks like it was a primary fix for several database and library issues and nothing more.
  6. I initally thought this was an update for enhanced WMA support to coincide with today's firmware update, but apparently it's a small set of bugfixes. More as I get it.

Why do you consider it strange? Make sure that when you post a new topic there is actually some content in it.
  8. I would've preferred some sound samples from the author of this piece. I have heard it in action before here: http://ad.impress.co.jp/tie-up/roland0503/index.htm Scroll down a bit and you'll see the 16- and 24-bit recording samples available for download.
  9. EQ Magazine has a brief piece on the Edirol R-1 and MZ-M100, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of both devices accordingly. The review goes on to say about MD, "..a consumer format that flopped in the U.S., but was reborn as the pro’s choice for field recording, interviews, and other audio-on-the-go applications." -cgm+++ Click on the image below for the full review:
  10. A better description of the exact issue is in order. As stuge inquired -- any error messages? Explain what happens step by step.
  11. Sefu, the owner of Minidisc Australia, has been seemingly MIA. He is a great guy though, and I'm sure that there's a reason for it. I imagine that he was not ready for the influx of interest, amongst other things. I will see what I can do.
  12. Bump, I updated the topic with specials from Minidisc Canada that are pretty hot.
  13. Yep, I've covered this a few times in the past. Windows XP Professional 64-bit is surprisingly stable, steadfast, and Sonicstage runs well within. As you cited, NetMD doesn't work -- I don't know if its a driver issue that may need customizing (aka, driver decorations) which wouldn't be too difficult to accomplish. I believe that if interest is high enough, I would attempt to create NetMD 64-bit drivers; I was able to "decorate" 32-bit drivers to work for my soundcard back when I was beta testing 64-bit XP.
  14. How long does it take to convert atrac files on that beast? I don't know if I even have the patience for that.
  15. C'mon, I want to hear more! Happy Holidays!!
  16. My bad, I should've known. Yeah, we've crossed paths with those guys quite a few times, and welcome anyone from that community. I can only hope that one day we may work together..
  17. Please upgrade to Sonicstage 3.3. Links are available in the Software forum.
  18. Great tips here -- I really enjoy these types of threads, please continue to share..the pictures are inspiring and will certainly help others.
  19. Please private message me if you want this!
  20. Did you have this problem with Sonicstage 3.2?
  21. Even edit? What happens when you try to edit? I'll have to mess with this on my NH900..
  22. I've yet to hear any good speakers on a laptop.
  23. Good impressions -- for the price it seems like a decent set of cans. It'll be interesting to hear how they are after a hundred or so hours of "burn in". One thing I really like about Sennheiser, regardless of the price range, is that most of their 'phones are quite comfortable in long-term listening situations.
