  1. Welcome. Format? You have to play a little hardball with Sonicstage to let it know that you're the boss. Try reinstalling via the directions in the FAQ, and/or state your system specs according to the rules.
  2. Do you have a Sonicstage database of your existing songs? How about a new Walkman or HD5?
  3. It's hard to tell at this point, but if enough people speak out for it then I'm sure they'll deliver. To be honest however, Sonicstage 3.3 is your best bet until Connect matures a little bit.
  4. Cease this hostility and confrontation immediately -- this is your only warning.
  5. I ran this by Invision (the forum software creators) and they say that you need to update your Mac via the Software Update -- exact quote follows:
  6. From what I can tell this is NOT the update I was referring to my last post, but is noteworthy nonetheless. <br /> <br /><strong>Only Available Through Auto Update Procedure</strong><br /><br /> <p>Sony offers this CONNECT Player Software Update for the owners of the following Network WALKMAN :</p> <ul> <li>NW-A1000</li> <li>NW-A3000</li> <li>NW-A608</li> </ul> <p> <strong>Fixed Issues - 1.0.00.10190</strong> </p> <ul> <li>CONNECT Player software hangs when exiting</li> <li>Windows Security warning message is displayed when CONNECT Player software is started</li> <li>CONNECT Player software reports script errors when accessing the CONNECT Store within the application <p> <img alt="" src="/i/AU01_1.gif" border="0"> </p> </li> <li>CONNECT Player software displays “tinyhttp.exe” error message when more than 1.000 tracks are being transferred to the device.</li> <li>CONNECT Player software instability after having imported more than 3000 tracks into the application</li> <li>Connect Player software does not restart after having dragged and dropped more than 3000 tracks from the library into the 'Now Playing' queue.</li> </ul> <p> <u>1.0.00.10190 / 1.0.01.11020</u> </p> <ul> <li>CD Extra and WMA are supported</li> <li>Improved Audio CD Ripping</li> <li>Improved New Playlist creation</li> <li>Improved Track Transfer / Editing and Sorting</li> <li>Improved Gracenote CDDB registration</li> <li>"Tinyhttp.exe" error while formatting A-series WALKMAN in CONNECT Player has been solved</li> </ul> <p> <strong>How to check the software version</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Launch the CONNECT Player software.</li> <li>Click on Help button</li> <li>Click on About CONNECT Player</li> <li>CONNECT Player version will be displayed</li> </ul> <p> <strong>Update Process</strong> </p> <ul> <li>A popup window will appear informing you there is a software update available</li> <li>Follow the onscreen instructions in order to update the version of CONNECT Player software</li> <li>Restart your computer when the process will be finished</li> </ul> <p> <strong>After the Update</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Make sure that the new Software Version is 1.0.02.11170</li> </ul>
  7. I don't believe that is the major update I was referring to. Remember, I said v3.
  8. Hi jonny, please ask this over at our sister portal ATRACLife.
  9. ATRACLife has an interesting summation on the state of the new Walkman and how things with Connect Player (successor to Sonicstage) are up to this point. A question that lingers for us -- will USB capable Minidisc units still be supported with Connect Player? -cgm
  10. For hopefully acceptable reasons to you folk I shall close this thread as I'm not keen on this type of conversation -- observing past discussions of this nature it truly leads nowhere and can offend others.
  11. As most of you who visit the forum know by now, 'Connect Player' (the successor to Sonicstage) has been a miserable experience for those in the United Kingdom who purchased the new NW-A series*. For whatever reason, the UK saw the release of the new Walkman more than a month before Japan; it hasn't been debuted or been mentioned officially in the USA. Confusingly, 'Connect Player' has yet to be officially distributed through the Connect portals -- Connect USA + Europe + Mora still feature Sonicstage 3.3. It's been a very odd and esoteric journey for the new 'Walkman', but what is the deal with 'Connect Player'? Don't get me wrong, the NW-A3000/1000 is one of the best hard drive music player units ever made from any company. It's the software that once again has now stopped Sony 'dead in its tracks', so to speak. From its initial discovery, the community was elated to learn that a true change was on the way for those who have had bad experiences with Sonicstage in the past. Screenshots appeared, and a promising iTunesque facade reeled us in steadfast. As time progressed and momentum reached a near fever pitch, the NW-A series mildly debuted in the UK without much fanfare from Sony other than a few commercials. Japan however has had a very vivid and forward campaign and is meeting projected success. How could a music player so intuitive be so silent in the market for that one month in the UK, though? Are we still beta testing the new 'Walkman'? Is this just another causualty in the seemingly failing Sony personal audio line, or just bad timing in the middle of a massive restructuring? It's hard to tell what will come next with the software, but at least the changes occur quickly. Their gaming segments are no different, with my time in Star Wars Galaxies giving me enough observance of their erraticies. Shame on you Sony for putting the UK and Japan in such a situation with 'Connect Player' -- Sonicstage has reached its most mature and stable point with v3.3, yet you want to move on and/or split development with new software? In another stunning move, it becomes apparent that 'Connect Player' is a fresh slate, and backwards compatibility may or may not occur with other devices. You are so fragmented right now and it's saddenly obvious; sort of watching a train wreck in slow motion. To succeed, you must have a unified approach to capture whatever market is remaining that will actually pay attention to your cries; I'd love to see a focus group given the NW-A3000 and 'Connect Player' and see how well they can wield it. I hope this restructuring does something, Sony. It also doesn't help that 'Connect Player' has a process called tinyhttp.exe that consumes more than 100mb of system memory on almost any configuration PLUS the OpenMG processes -- this is true bloatware. Obtaining the software is esoteric at best right now (it is being supplied with units sold at this moment however), but you can learn how to do so with relative ease. Nonetheless, I have word that a major update will come to 'Connect Player' in less than two weeks. After the update, it should be gold stamped, meaning it'll be ready for real distribution through the aforementioned Connect Portals and compact discs, which could indicate an upcoming release for the United States. Apparently this will be Connect v3? It seems like Sony really wants this to work -- I just wonder if those programmers get any sleep judging from the bugs we come across. One can only hope that after this upcoming revision the software will be useable. * - Our Software Support forum has many other topics speaking of numerous 'Connect Player' woes.
  12. We're getting busy, and Ishiyoshi and I can't do both forums without going insane. Send me a private message if you're interested in moderating for Atraclife. Please list prior forum experience (not required), why you feel you'd be a good canidate, e-mail address, MSN name (if possible). It'd be nice if you already have a presence on the forum, as well. This would not be a backseat position -- meaning you join the team and then post normally. We are seeking an individual who can speak authoratively, understand when to close topics, delete certain posts, merge posts, etc. This isn't a difficult position, and doesn't require you to be on 24-7. Thanks!
  13. Does it matter where it's made? I've seen high quality audio players by Sony from both locales, so I think that these concerns are fruitless..
  14. The latest Harry Potter and Walk the Line, both are excellent and highly recommended. Walk the Line was just perfect, you will not be disappointed at all if you have even a remote interest in Johnny Cash.
  15. As many of you will be indulging in a feast today at home or abroad, take a moment afterwards to read some fine reviews by our forum members. dex Otaku has written an authorative piece about his orange Sony MZ-RH10. Mikami has a few thoughts and a pictorial of the new blue MZ-EH70 Hi-MD player-only unit, which is curiously devoid of MP3 compatibility. Finally, the Disc Pictorials forum has become very refined, with more than 60+ high quality pictorials of odd Japanese style discs and more by forum moderator Ishiyoshi. There are a great number of premium reviews by our valued forum members in the Pictorials/Reviews forum. Have a nice Holiday. -cgm
  16. It's been a while since we noted MarCNeT's Hi-MD Renderer, and it has truly evolved into a helpful and mature conversion tool for self-recorded uploads from Hi-MD and now NetMD (realtime). Click here to download Hi-MD Renderer v.52. Bugfixes and new features include NetMD compatibility, ID3 tagging, Hi-MDLister (a program to print track lists from a Hi-MD disc), and much more. The instruction guide has been updated accordingly, and readers with questions or woes can reach MarC at his support forum. Don't forget to donate (if possible) as the program is free. -cgm
  17. I think I'll spend some time soon and upload all Hi-MD user manuals to the Downloads section. If interest is high enough I'll do NetMD and others as well. p.s. Welcome to the forums, motr.
  18. I have a custom-built Socket 754 Athlon 64 -- - A64 3700+ @ 2.4ghz, can overclock 500mhz on air (XP-120 heatsink, 120mm panaflo fan) - Maxtor Diamondmax 10 Plus 250gb SATA w/ 16mb cache (170ish gigs free I think) - Firewire connection to a Sony DRX-510UL DVD Writer - Windows XP Professional 64-bit - 1 gig 2-2-2-5 DDR PC3200 - Radeon X850XT I'll do some tests this afternoon with Sonicstage 3.3 and see what the speeds are, as it's been a while since I last took an official measure.
  19. Hello, Any specifics? Were you doing a certain action, or was it upon loading anything at the site?
  20. All the best from the MDCF crew. Stay warm, eat alot, and don't forget to stop by after you're tired of the family. As for me, it looks like I won't be able to eat much this year. I was eating a sandwich today, and about halfway through I took a bite and the chomp took a little more than the sandwich. I could literally hear my teeth going into my tounge; the damage wasn't too severe but it is certainly not a small gash. Yipes. It was pretty bad, and now I can somewhat talk but food is a no-no -- the day before Thanksgiving, just my luck.
  21. Gallery updated to v2.0.4; bugfixes include:
  22. A new phone number, as someone has been obsessively calling and threatening me.
  23. Been busy. Anyway, new skin is almost ready, you can get a sneak peak here: http://support.1lotus.com/ Of course, it will be modified to the previous standard, but obviously above in a certain respect as well. The big numbers weren't the only thing that's peculiar, it looks like the info for us in topics is on the right side now amongst other things. I think it'll be very nice. I'll be getting a dark skin next.
  24. If you have a problem, please use the "Report" button on the offensive post. It is impossible for the staff to screen all posts, but I do know we have a very friendly and relaxed community here and I'm not really sure of what posts you speak of. If you have a specific problem with a certain member, you may always send a message to myself or any of the moderators for further discussion. As this post has nothing to do with Hi-MD, I must move it to the off topic forum.
