Yep! I like the last one the best I think. Very minimalist.

thats pretty awesome actually.

Shouldn't be... Hi-MD can only read WAV/PCM @ 16bit 44.1kHz. Some programs default to 24bit, or 48kHz. Anything other than the 16/44.1 won't play, and will probably give an error like the one you are seeing/
-
are you recording the WAV's themselves as 16bit 44.1kHz?
-
Try this if you get a chance: Right-click on the file in SonicStage, and choose "Convert Format" (instead of Save in WAV...).. Now choose the original format. Be sure to uncleck "add copy protection". Alternately, try choosing a different bitrate and see what happens. The converted files will be in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\SonicStage\Packages\Optimized Files.
-
Sorry about that, somehow I missed that! Does the file actually play the whole way through in SonicStage?
-
Try using MarC's Hi-MD Renderer Program: http://www.marcnetsystem.co.uk/ At one point his program was the only way to get .OMA files to .WAV format. I have had situations where his program will work and Sony's will fail/

Mp3s to HiMD - what is the deal? Why some not others?
raintheory replied to uncle arthur's topic in Software
Upgrading SonicStage should solve the problem for you. Ever since v3.4 there have been some massive fixes, including better Mp3 support. Also if you do any live recording, older SonicStage versions have been known to randomly trash discs, definitely a good reason to upgrade. You should also be able to use SonicStage to create NetMD discs as well for your car... -
I don't think the M10 can record in legacy formats (unless you transfer from PC with SonicStage). That was one weird thing about the 2nd gen Hi-MD units.

Mp3s to HiMD - what is the deal? Why some not others?

Welcome to the forums! What version of SonicStage are you using? Also, what unit do you have? -
You just need to sign into the downloads sections with the same credentials you use for the forum. Alternately, here: sony_MZ_NE410_service_manual.pdf

If you want to get your CDs to your RH1 with a Mac, all you need to do is use iTunes or some other software to rip the CD to WAV or Mp3 (whichever you prefer) and then grab the newest version of the Hi-MD music transfer software (you can get it from the downloads section here in the forums). Then just drag the WAV/Mp3 files into the window to transfer. I think you have to drag the files themselves, I don't think you can drag from the iTunes window. If you want to upload your older discs you will need to do that with a PC though.
-
Could be a database problem... What version of Windows are you using?
-
Those first 2 look to be the RH10.
-
You can upload optical recordings to PC just fine with SonicStage. Go figure.
-
We have Bias Peak on our Mac... I've never really used it much though. My fiance uses the Mac most times. I use GoldWave on PC myself. Highly recommend it, been using it for years.

HIMDRenderer not "tagging" naming WAVs or MP3 file names
raintheory replied to Sparky191's topic in Hi-MD Renderer Forum
Here: nxMyFLA.txt Just change the extension to .dll and drop it in "Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins" -a -
Have you tried setting the mic sensitivity to "low" on the recorder itself? I've found doing this doesn't pick up as much background noise.

Uploading a 256kbps Atrac3+ file to a Mac will result in a digital WAV file that is the same quality as the 256kbps Atrac3+ file that you recorded. The file will be much larger due to being an uncompressed WAV file. If you download that WAV file to another Hi-MD it will take up much more space as a WAV, but retain the original quality. You're better off recording in PCM if you are concerned about quality. You can always convert the WAV files you upload to mp3 and drop them onto another Hi-MD disc. This is frowned upon by most, as it is transcoding, but let your own ears decide if you can tell the difference. Hope this helps some. The compatibility with Mac has come a long way, but still leaves much to be desired.

Are you using an optical cable, or are you using a standard analog line?

Changing drive letter for ATRAC device in Sonic Stage
raintheory replied to coldfusionPaul's topic in Software
Start/Run: diskmgmt.msc Right-click on the current drive letter and choose "Change drive letter and paths", choose whichever you like. -
FWIW, standard MD is a bit more reliable in the sense that if something happens and the disc gets erased, you can still access the audio data via TOC cloning. regards, Another MZ-1 owner, aquired in '93. in Maryland though. ( Hmm... Maryland = MD.. a coincidence? I think not! ) -Aaron

And remember, lossless compression is your friend!

You definitely want a recorder that has a mic-in. You can check out what Hi-MD recorders are available, along with information about them from here: http://www.minidisc.org/equipment_browser.html Your N510 can record using a standard analog line-in plugged into the line/optical jack. If you can patch into the soundboard you can use that. Or if you have access to a preamp of some sort you can use a mic through that. The N510 lacks any uploading abilities though, so Hi-MD is definitely worth it. Welcome to the forums, BTW.
