  1. Sent him my MZ-DH10P in exchange for his MZ-R909. The MZ-R909 arrived ridiculously fast (from Japan no less!), in impeccable condition, and was bundled with all of the essentials as well as some much appreciated extras. Guitarfxr is a great asset to this community, and I hope he enjoys the MZ-DH10P and gets much good use from it!
  2. I agree with Superbaldguy, and would love to see the unit. EDIT: looks like I spoke too soon! Thanks for the pics!
  3. To somewhat answer your second question: The RH1/M200 is a Hi-MD recorder. All Hi-MD recorders can record in uncompressed PCM... i.e. 16bit 44.1kHz (same quality as CD), as well as a few Atrac3/Atrac3+ formats (which are the lossy ones).
  4. I find the 00x prefix annoying when for example I have recorded three sets of recordings in one day -- Let's say each set has two recordings in it, with group function enabled. So I end up with three groups having two recordings each. .. When they are uploaded to PC the prefix starts from 001 for each group. ..This is what causes the problems. ...When I upload/remove DRM and move all of these files into one folder for archiving, they are ordered by the prefix and not necessarily by the date/time stamp. For example, they would end up like: 001-First Recording From First Set 001-First Recording From Second Set 001-First Recording From Third Set 002-Second Recording From First Set 002-Second Recording From Second Set etc. etc. Instead of: 001-First Recording From First Set 002-Second Recording From First Set 001-First Recording From Second Set 002-Second Recording From Second Set 001-First Recording From Third Set etc. etc. Make sense? ..This can be avoided by turning the auto-group mode off, or by moving all your recordings into one group prior to uploading. The prefix can be helpful when using a recorder that lacks date/time stamp, but for recorders that have this feature it is pointless and can cause confusion.
  5. Beautiful unit. Hope it goes to a good home.
  6. SonicStage 4.2 can be found here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=17769
  7. SP via SonicStage is only LP2 quality. There are a few threads around here regarding this, as well as some frequency analysis graphs of my own testing...
  8. The RH1 is the flagship model, which is an amazing machine. However, the only features specific to it are the ability to upload to PC minidiscs created with older recorders, and the ability to remember manual record levels. That said... for what you intend to do with the unit, the NH700 would fit your needs nicely. You will almost certainly be able to acquire one second-hand for under $200. As long as you are recording with a Hi-MD recorder (RH1 & NH700 are both Hi-MD, though there are a couple others), you will be able to upload your recordings to PC via USB. Be sure to use a recent version of SonicStage instead of the version that might come with your unit. I recommend SonicStage 4.2 for any OS besides Vista, which requires 4.3. As far as microphones, sound professionals sells some decently priced stereo microphones. Check out their SP-BMC-2's: http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-BMC-2 -Alternately, our own member greenmachine builds microphones and battery boxes. Although I am unsure if he is still offering them. Have fun!
  9. The MDLP decks are labeled as such in the equipment browser. http://www.minidisc.org/part_Decks_Sony.html I previously had an MDS-JE470, which was MDLP. There seem to be a few of these (and others) still floating around.
  10. Modifying the track info of already imported files within SonicStage only updates the tags of the files, and not the filenames themselves. Best bet is to name the tracks before uploading, you can do this easily from within SonicStage. For your files that have already been imported, you'll have to manually change the filenames yourself, and then re-import the files (just drag & drop from explorer into SonicStage). Also don't forget to strip the DRM from your uploads, see the link in my signature...
  11. A440, did your recovered Hi-MD disc have audio or data... or both?
  12. forgot to mention that after I took that photo a few posts back, the unit was dropped out of a (non-moving) car... The display no longer works at all. i did, however come by an M100 for a decent price that will be a gift for my wife (I had given her the RH10, then broke it accidentally), the M100 will be a better suited unit since she primarily uses a Mac.
  13. I'd use my E900 more often if I could turn off the beep... A good portion of music that I listen to is rather quiet, especially compared to the BEEP that seems to deliberately be set to maximum volume by default... I still think there may be a way to disable the beep... possibly via service mode? I love the unit regardless, perfect size... Heres a photo of mine, note the difference in the logo and lettering colors:
  14. You can do whatever you'd like with the WAV files. It's the PCM files (with the .OMA extension) that have DRM and can't be coped to other computers/etc.
  15. They are essentially the same, except the PCM ones are actually encrypted files. They are the same, quality-wise. Keep the WAV files.
  16. Hey guys, I had loaned my NH900 to my friend awhile ago, and he has since returned it to me as it no longer functions correctly... I have a feeling that it may be as good as dead, but figured I'd see if any of the service-mode guys here knew anything I could try in order to fix it... Basically, it has trouble reading Hi-MD discs... Never seems to get past trying to load the TOC or something at the beginning. Standard MDs work sometimes, but when they do load the unit runs into some sort of problem after a few minutes of recording and seems to force a "Save Data / System file write" which never actually completes. If I stop the recording before it stops itself it saves the data and all just fine. So heres where I am looking for some guidance. I'm not afraid to open the unit up and/or enter servoce mode. I did open it up and check the ribbon cable and check/clean the lens/heads. I will venture a guess that what's happening has to do with either the laser output or something with the motor that moves the laser/lens. Are there any settings in service mode I can tweak to see if I can give the laser more output? Or anything else I can try? Again this is a last ditch effort, so if I end up bricking the unit it's not a big deal... As it stands now it's not doing me much good so it's worth a shot in my book. Thanks!
  17. We have a MOTU 828mkII setup. Been using it for a few years, very happy with it. I'd recommend it if you have some use for it aside from just transferring the MD stuff. EDIT: hehe, i think TIA was "Thanks in Advance"
  18. My plans to obtain an MZ-M10 for my wife have fallen through, so I am still on the lookout for one. If anybody has one they are looking to sell, let me know. Thanks!
  19. This unit has been claimed and is on it's way to a happy home.
  20. Are you using Vista? I am on XP myself, when I tried running 4.3 I started experiencing something similar to this and not be able to upload my recordings successfully. Switching back to 4.2 solved the problem for me. I would recommend uninstalling 4.3 and installing 4.2 unless you are using Vista. 4.2 can be found here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=17769
  21. What version of SonicStage are you using?
  22. I guess I could just play it safe and see if the Zune will charge with the RH1 charger. A lower amp rating seems to me that it would be less likely to cause damage. If anything, maybe it just might take longer to charge, or not charge at all.
  23. Hey guys, I recieved a Brown 30GB Zune as a birthday present (which suits me well as a portable player, reducing wear & tear on my precious MiniDisc recorders... but that is a story for another thread). The Zune charges via USB, not unlike the MZ-RH1. My question is --Could I use the MZ-RH1 charger to charge the Zune? Or, alternately use the Zune charger to charge the MZ-RH1? The voltages are as follows: MZ-RH1 Charger INPUT: AC100-240V~ 50/60Hz 6W OUTPUT: DC5V- - - 800mA Zune Charger INPUT: 100 - 240V~ 50/60Hz OUTPUT: 5V- - - 1.5A thx
