  1. Why don't Sony just give us the information on how to recover a lost data, that would be a lot easier.

    Hacks for RH1?

It would be cool if we can make this crossfade, but I hardly doubt it.
  3. I hope you didn't take it on the customer service rep, they don't make the final decision, is the management above them. I work in retail store and it is difficult sometime to deal with customer.
  4. I don't really have the answer honestly other than maybe an opinion. Based on what you said about pausing for an hour with the unit might have something to do with it. This is maybe a default within the unit to go back at a normal state at stop after a long period of time being at paused. This perhaps to prevent the unit from being burn out from wear and tear. I have had units like VCR recorder for instance where it has limited amount of time to be at paused and just stop. So I hope that kind of explain your issue and hopefully make sense.
  5. I'm not using md as much but they come in handy. MD or Hi-MD is mainly my recording gears and iPod is my playback of choice since I can listen to my 5500 songs shuffled, crossfaded and all songs are normalized from MP3 gain, that what is amount to for me. But the recording of choice is minidisc all the way for me. As of a matter of fact I had some SP legacy md that I transferred to iPod and now they are all mix in there and I can't really tell the difference whether is compressed at 128kbps, 160kbps etc. they are all there and as long they have been normalized for recording levels it's all good.
  6. I'm not trying to start a flame here but me is just the opposite. I take my iPod for listening purposes and using RH1 as my personal recording device, maybe a playback from it from time to time. However, the reason I use my iPod is because of Rockbox that I am using with it. It gives me an option to have a crossfade on between songs. I am not here promote the rockbox useful feature but other than just expressing my thoughts. MD still is the best thing there is and I hope that the future for it still clear. RH1 is probably the best md recorder I ever had and will always be unless Sony release a Hi-MD pro deck then will see.
  7. don't blame you there a bit. This is why I am considering a playback only hi-md but awaiting for a player with dynamic normaliser with it. I want my music with consistent level.
  8. I've been seeing the N505 from my local pawnshop and I think I saw about 4 or 5 of them from the two pawnshop I went to this weekend.
  9. The mic the comes with M10 is great...I'm thinking about getting one for my RH1. welcome to mdworld.
  10. Thanks and great job on the review. I always like to read reviews and I also love the RH1 myself and I only own it less than a month. I recently bought a 5 Hi-MD as well to do some PCM recording eventually. I have been an mduser since MZ-1 came out and I think that was released on 1993 so I know exactly what you mean...thnx again. BTW you probably wrote prior to the release of SS 4.2 but that is fine. 4.2 is great by the way. I also own a Powerbook G4....anyhow, thanks again!!!
  11. I wonder whether he owns a RH1 so that he can upload his recording with it. Overall, it's good to know that someone still using md out there.
  12. Have you check your local pawn shop? I know that pawn shop have them in my local area. You could also negotiate with them that way as well. Good luck!!!

    MZ-RH1

I think now that Sony figured out what is all the need for minidisc to succeed, they need to go back to drawing board again for marketing strategy. They are probably already doing this as we speak but who knows.

    MZ-RH1

I wonder about how Sony is marketing the RH1 myself. I had to buy RH1 from minidisco and my guitar center locally here in Boise was carrying mz-m10 and m100 at point and not re-stocking with any md unit. Kinda makes you wonder. Sony's priority seems as if not marketing minidisc as much as it was before now that they finally got it right this time. It records both digitally and analog and it works great live as advertised said although I have not try this for myself but other than people have said
  15. that is what everyone here pretty much in mind. We don't know why sony has not come up with hi-md deck as of yet. Maybe hi-md is targetted for remote recording. But it would be nice if there is a hi-md with PCM capable for studio recording. Lets hope that hi-md didn't came a little bit late. I think if you are looking for high quality uncompressed recording hi-md is the way to go though.
  16. RH1 is the only way to go...so far that is the almost mdrecorder that is close to being perfect arguably.
  17. minidisco have one made by Onkyo...lots of money for it though.

    format

what kind of md recorder do you have? did you try ejecting it and inserting it agai?
  19. I don't know whether you made a good deal or not but for few dollars more you could have the later RH1 that can upload md legacy. There is nothing wrong the m100 however but that was last year's model. Either way welcome to minidisc world let us know your experience with.
  20. Maybe either your N510 that your friend gave you was defective and erases disc or when you place you minidisc player in the bag, the recorder was accidently hit. There is TOC cloning procedure you can read but this procedure requires a minidisc deck to maybe bring back a song, kind of a long story. check out the past Hacking section from minidisc.org website...good luck and sorry about what happen.
  21. thanks! I suspected that this is similar to TOC cloning. Anyhow, at least it available for RH1.
